Ole Tapas Lounge & Restaurant
We shared a number of small plates. Lamb meatballs and calimari plates were outstanding. Nice dinner in an uncrowned restaurant with good service, although plates did come out faster than we would have preferred.
Love, love, love this place. The staff is warm, accommodating, and friendly. Food and wine is top notch. Sometimes the service is a little slow....but the rest of it makes up for any downfalls. A little hole in the wall, but with lovely decor. The booths are great for dates - they draw you together over food and a damn good bottle of wine. Ole!
MMM, Asturian white beans with chorizo! Beef tenderloin perfectly done. Salted beets just delish.
A group of 10 came after theatre. It was new for some people. Tapas is a great way to try several dishes. Their specials were a big hit. They have a great special on paella on Sundays. Quite a bargain
Great choice for a special occasion; Excellent service; Creative cuisine; Comfortable seating
Great fun atmosphere for absolutely delicious tapas!
Been coming here since right after it opened. Never a bad meal. Great wines are always on the menu. Didn’t get the table I reserved but we loved it as always. Tres Leches a must to try.
We have been coming here since it open and it is always enjoyable. Food is great and staff and chef are personable. It is a staple in our dining life.
Food was nicely prepared and tapas dishes were fun and lots to chose from. They also made a virgin sangria for us that was outstanding.
First experience with Tapas. I couldn’t have been happier.
Food was very good. And that’s coming from a 2nd generation Spaniard.
A lot of potential to be a great night. Seems like the staff had a rough night prior to our arrival.
We love Ole! However, this time the place was so loud we could barely hear each other and it was really smokey. Our clothes smelled like grease.
This was out third time there. Our first 2 experiences were far better than this one. They were expecting a huge party in the main dining room so our table of 5 was placed by the kitchen doors. The server was new and not very friendly. I also felt like we were being rushed due to the large party expected.
Everything was great!
The food was not good.
Authentic Tapas , great selections , above average tastes; speedy service , they keep your tapas coming , hot and fresh ; nice atmosphere for a date or business lunch , no screaming children 👶! Has bar seating , also ! Highly recommended by me ! Enjoy!
Always a treat to eat at Ole Tapas! Yummy! Glad to see the lentils back on the menu, hopeful they will be a year round offering!
Our server was great, liked having live guitar music, some dishes were good. However, some dishes were very overcooked (lamb) underwhelming (beans w/ pork), or inconsistent (some orders of gambas had raw garlic, some frizzled) and the dining area was VERY smoky from the kitchen.
Our first time and we loved it. We will definitely be back!
The food was not overwhelming yet all delicious. The service was great. Our orders came in succession and was well presented.
Outstanding meal! Everything was fresh, hot and tasted great.
One of my favorites, but I don't do well with change. The Kennett Mushrooms said it had garlic, which I didn't taste, and they added pearl onions which did not work well with the dish at all. The complimentary nibbles was excellent...some type of spicy ham mixture. The Procutto was very disappointing. They used to offer several slices on a wooden board. Now you get about eight pieces that are less than 1 x 1 inch. Not enough to even taste. Calamari was excellent. We ordered something almond that was nothing more than diced bell peppers on a cracker with melted cheese, one bite was more than enough. The dates and plantains are always good.
Stopped by while traveling through Delaware. The staff was very friendly and personable and did a excellent job with follow through on any special requests. Sundays they have all-you-can-eat paella for $18 and you're able to try any of the five different varieties. I enjoyed the seafood paella as well as the mixed combination paella.
Delicious food, nice selection of wine, attentive high quality service, Would love it even more if was byob
Excellent service and food. I recommend the sangria flight.
I've reviewed this restaurant several times already, so I won't repeat myself except to reiterate that this is one of the best restaurants in the Newark (Delaware) area. One problem we have found with it, however, is that often dishes we like are dropped from the menu. Octopus has been on and off the menu, in several different versions, but yesterday it was unavailable. Lentils were are missing, as were wines we have liked in the past (such as Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha). Yesterday, we had a brand new waiter who was unfortunately not familiar with most of the items on the menu and therefore not especially helpful. Overall, however, despite ups and downs, this place remains at the top of the list for Newark-area eateries.
Has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. However this experience will insure I don’t return. Service was the west dining service I’ve ever had food in appetizing my friends and i wondered what had happened to the place was every one from cooks to serve Evers bartender on vacation not sure won’t return
We thought we were back in Spain❣💃
Great food! Casual atmosphere, friendly servers, cozy halfround booths available. The two of us ordered the seafood paella, and shared a couple of tapas plates to start with a pitcher of red sangria. All the dishes were fresh and full of flavor, it was really a perfect meal. Plenty of paella to bring home for the next day, too 😊. Thank you Ole Tapas, we intend to be regulars and will tell our friends!
We ate six tapas. The cod fritters were inedible, too salty. The mussels were in a very watery tomato that needed salt, even with the chorizo. Shrimps were just a mouthful of garlic. Other three tapas just okay. Will not go back. Too pricey for the quality of the food, not the quantity.
Make sure you pay attention whether or not it’s dancing night. It’s lovely but also drags your meal out and very loud. They do a great “show” though!
Fernando, our server, was excellent and our food was delicious!
The food was very tasty. They may want to use lemons instead of limes in the paella as lemons are traditionally used.
I would not recommend this place for dinner or lunch to anyone. Tapas are still ok, but that is about it. Not coming back for sure.
Went to Ole Tapas for a birthday dinner with the intent of ordering the Paella Mixta which the restaurant advertises as taking 40 minutes to prepare. After a very good small plate of artesian cheeses they paella arrived. I would definitely not recommend this dish. The rice was flavorless as well as the calamari and chicken. Very disappointing. Ordered a shot of tequila, five empty bottles on the shelf. No tequila. Requested two bottles of wine on the wine list, both of which were not available. The server, Manny, was very accommodating, although the quality of the paella was sub par. I would recommend this restaurant for tapas, definitely not the paella.
Authentic Spanish cuisine. From small plates to paella for four, there is no need to leave hungry and fully satisfied. Excellent adult beverages.
Delicious food. Perfect proportions.
