Old Surrey Restaurant
The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.
The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.
Wonderful meal and the staff where delightful.
We all ordered chateaubriand and I was disappointed. Why the gravy? Bearnaise sauce was not good. Waiter seemed tired with all the tables ordering the special with so much table side preparation.
Enjoyable as always.
It was a great evening as usual. Cheers 🍸🍸
I’ve never had a poor experience here. This place is a hidden gem. My favourite restaurant by far and I’m such a foodie. Service is fantastic, food is to die for and prices are very reasonable considering what you’re getting. Wish I could give them more stars !
Excellent service and ambiance wonderful. Caesar salad which is usually excellent was fair as had way too much oil in it. Fish dinner while okay was a little on dry side
Another fantastic dinner and experience at this excellent establishment
Really nice evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Excellent food at very acceptable prices. Nice warm, friendly staff, too. Keep up the good work. This was our first visit. It will now be the first of many!
We were there to celebrate our 50th wedding anniv & we were all (there were 4 of us) blown away by our meals...spectacular.. as were the servers😊can’t wait to go back but have to save up.😉
We had a very nice dinner, the server made the salads and deserts right at the table. Great overall experience
A dining experience not to be missed. Superb in every aspect. Gourmet food without the Gourmet size! Generous portions!
We’ll be back
Service was great and most of food was excellent. Lobster was like muss (no we did not complain, it would of off set our eating together).
We always choose this great restaurant for special occasions. There is a fabulous menu with specials to choose from to cater to every one's tastes. The staff is very friendly and it's nice to be welcomed back as 'regulars'.
If you want a great restaurant with fabulous service, food and value - look no further!
Service was pretty slow. Food was decent, but oyster appetizer wasnt worth it with 5 small oysters for $18. Overall, not the hest experience for the money
Very enjoyable dinner for 2 on a Friday night. It was a quiet evening business wise and it was most appreciated that they did not seat all of their guests in the same area, instead allowing them to pick an area of their choice. Food was and great and our server was outstanding. Would certainly recommend this place. The Caesar's salad is the best we have had in the past 25 years.
I love it here
Food is incredible and service is great
I have nothing bad to say
Even some food I normally don’t like tastes good here 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
We have been to this restaurant a few times and I am usually very happy with the service and food. Tonight’s service was average. I realize it was fairly busy and kept that in mind while waiting for food and drinks. We were never offered coffee or asked if we wanted more drinks after our meal arrived. My husband loved his meal (the halibut with pasta). My sister and I enjoyed ours but I found the Caesar Salad a bit too vinegary and the sirloin was cooked perfectly but I didn’t enjoy the red cabbage as a veggie. The tiramisu had a bit too much liqueur in it for me. Overall I’d give it a satisfied.
Great choices and the food was very good with good size portions.
Fantastic service! Food is the highest quality. Highly recommend for a nice quiet high quality meal.
The server were great from the time we got there and they didnt have sections for servers they served the tables and helped out one another out so they were great service
A very enjoyable experience overall. The food was quite good, except my steak was slightly overdone (I ordered rare and got closer to medium) but the meat was still tender enough that I didn't feel like sending it back. The asparagus was a bit woody. Minor things really. The service was impeccable, we didn't need to signal the waiter for anything, drinks were always topped off, plates were always cleared. Very good sized portions.
Remodled old farm house restsurant. Most white doors turn dark especially high traffic areas. Good execution of quality food. Good service, could be a bit more attentive. It could be noisy if customers from next table do not have public ettitque, who like to "broadcast" their conversation.
This truly is a hidden gem we have been many times always very good There are a couple of things that are out of sorts $36. For a Caesar salad (which is still the best I have ever had plus made at table) $45 for a house wine and 52 and up for anything else my only two complaints still keep going back. The special are always a great deal but would not hesitate to order anything on the menu
We were there to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and the atmosphere as well. However I was a bit disappointed that they didn't realize that it was my birthday and put a candle or something on my dessert even though I wrote it on my reservation and called them to let them know.
We've been to Old Surrey Restaurant several times, always for a special occasion. The food, the service, and everything about it makes every visit special. The cost is more than we'd usually pay, but for that special night out for an excellent dining experience, why go all the way to downtown Vancouver (or even further) when there's such a great place conveniently near home. We'll definitely be there again, hopefully not too long from now.
The food and service was fabulous. Prefer this local restaurant over the Keg, better food and you are not rushed. Our go to place for a nite out.
Wonderful food and service! Always a place to go, enjoy and be pampered.
It’s a special occasion place or just a treat for the tired cook— either way worth the drive to Surrey for this piece of heaven.
The art of table side service is alive and well and practiced here with style and pleasure. Caesar Salad is absolutely amazing and their halibut —- perfection.
The restaurant is very romantic. The staff was exceptional . They were both friendly and gave excellent service.
The food was very good also. Who knew there was this gem in Surrey. We plan to go again.
Would definitely recommend. Such a great meal and we could actually hear each other. Very nice atmosphere and the service was so good. Beautiful dinner.
Always great! An example of why people still seek traditional fine dining! Table side service, knowledgeable wait staff, diverse menu
I booked a few days ahead for Mother’s Day and was able to get a time for 5 people. The Old Surrey Restaurant has a special set 3 course menu for Mother’s Day which makes picking and choosing things very easy. The restaurant feels like a home, and delivers a relaxing yet fine dining feel, and the servers were very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious - I had the tenderloin and it just melts in your mouth! It took quite a bit of time for the main course to arrive, most likely because of the increase of guests on Mother’s Day.
Dining at the Old Surrey Restaurant continues to be one of the best meals that is served anywhere in the world.
My husband enjoyed his meal as did our son however I did not like my meal. It was an odd combination of schnitzel topped with artichoke, tomato and unmelted cheese. Honestly, if I had known tomatoes would be on it, I would not have ordered it. The artichokes were too briney tasting, the topping was wet and the sauce should have come out in a separate container so the schnitzel remained crispy.
Oh, and more veg. One small carrot, three potato puffs and a small portion of steamed cabbage was not sufficient.
Very attentive and efficient service. Loved the tableside preparation of the tiramisu dessert. Beautiful restaurant with lots of natural light from the windows at the front. Although it was very busy when our party ate there, we hardly noticed due to the thoughtful spacing of the tables and different sections of the house itself. The food was amazing (the Caesar salad alone was to die for).
We loved spending our 31 st anniversary dinner here for the first time ever at this restaurant. Our host Michael was a pleasure to have provide the old fashioned experience of classic restaurant experience. We had the Spring special and the Halibut dinner was the best I have ever enjoyed. Being on a middle of week evening the room was romantic and quiet. Thanks for an enjoyable evening. Lyle
It’s like you are eating in a very old house. Business seems family run - very friendly and attentive. Food was really good and decently priced.
Perfect restaurant to join a partner or date to be able to have a dinner conversation without all the echos and annoyance of a larger chain style restaurant bar !
Had a lovely conversation with a couple from Seattle during our last visit. Lots of laughs as well. Excellent service every visit.
