Old Stove Pub Ratings and Reviews
On the expensive side for the type of food. Odd combination of Greek and steak as if they did not know which way to go. Restaurant is literally an old house. Such places cam have a rustic charm but not here. You are pretty much aware you are having dinner in an enclosed porch. The steak was cooked perfectly and they let the meat do the talking. It was not overly spiced and grilled perfectly. The steak sauce is excellent. The creamed spinach was too creamed and the garlic mashed were no better than Friday's or Applebees. Overall for the price ($52 for a Tbone) does not meet the standard it should.
This place has decent Greek food although I was a bit disappointed they weren't offering octopus the night we were there. Anyone who knows Greek cuisine understands a properly cooked octopus dish is a mainstay in Greek dining. Change that and our server's less than enthusiastic attitude, and I'd return for a second shot.
It is always pleasure dining at Old Stove Pub. The The food is excellent and the staff is quite gracious. It can get a bit noisy, but we are usually through with our dinner by that time. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
Cannot wait to go back again.
The food was OK, but not good enough to justify a return visit anytime soon. The service was dreadful, apparently the result of some confusion as to who was to wait on our table. Of our order for 4 drinks, 2 came out together (after being told - after the order was taken - they were out of the beer they were featuring), the other 2 had to be requested again. Of the 4 dinners, 2 came out... small lag... then another... small lag... then the last. Our waiter disappeared to cover outside tables with no one picking up the slack. Had to request our table to be cleared, and the check. C'mon guys, this is your season: make it count.
The steaks are the best by far than any other place in the Hamptons. The staff cannot be any friendlier. A definite must is the baklava at your meals end. Better than any Greek pastry shop.
I miss the sign of my youth "When your fed up with the chic come to the Greek.
Our group has an amazing meal, all the Greek classics are to die for. The world class steak is outstanding. Welcoming and great for groups (although I have to admit first hand I know it's also great for dates) awesome vibes super good energy the food is truly delicious, all around a 5 star experience can't wait to go back
Had dinner here twice this summer and both times food and service were excellent! Had one past experience a couple of years ago where service was a disaster -- but they have fixed themselves. Manager George is charming and on top of things. Greek specialties and steaks are excellent. Nice ambiance inside or out. Able to accommodate "real" gluten allergy (celiac)!
Very disappointed. Wait staff friendly but disorganized and inattentive. Thought we were going to a Greek restaurant, but it is more steak, burgers - only some of the appetizers, two gyro options and moussaka. I've eaten far better moussaka at Greek diners, for a lot less money than Hamptons pricing. Sorry to say but we'll pass the next time, there are too many other good restaurant options in the area with better food and more attentive wait staff.
Haven't been back for years, now with a new owner who really seems to enjoy what he does!!! Great (dbl great) Greek salad, warm grape leaves (never had them warm)....Moussaka , delicious ...even though not a fan of cinnamon...wine excellent and reasonably priced for a very nice "pour"... Will definitely be back!
Had the gyro and a Greek salad. Salad was big enough for three and gyro was large with a generous helping of fries. Overall food was very good. I sat outside and as the sun set there wasn't enough light for me to see my food on the plate. I had one tiny candle on the table. I didn't want to get up so I suffered through. Quite expensive for what is was. Had a glass of house wine and desert and bill was over 100 with tip.
I have been here before since the new owner took over and always enjoy my dinners. Summers in the Hamptons are always hectic, particularly holiday weekends, but the restaurant handled the busy traffic very well - as well insuring that a group of infamous loud mouthed reality TV women and their entourages did not annoy the other diners . Food quality did not suffer and I love the variety they offer. The grilled octopus was outstanding and they do a good job on standard Greek fare. Our waiter was very overwhelmed and inexperienced but fundamentally a nice guy. I think the service (or lack thereof) was the one thing that took away from the dining experience. I definitely plan to return on a regular basis - probably off season or at least on a less busy night.
One of my favorites places in the Hamptons. Amazing Spanakopita - not your little triangles, a large yummy rectangle filled with spinach. Love the Moussaka. Fish delicious and the baklava. Probably other great things too, but I always get what I love:) Family run. Staff so friendly and ready to help. Highly recommend!
