Old Oyster Factory Ratings and Reviews
Expensive for an early dining menu, especially for meals that were of fair quality. Alcohol was overly expensive....when people are purchasing full meals, they should not have to pay an excessive amount for alcoholic beverages when there are happy hour prices in the bar. Fish was dry, potatoes were starchy and dry, veggies were under cooked, less than al dente. $7 dessert was not exceptional. Only saving grace for us was the excellent coffee served at the end of meal. It was steaming hot and had a superb aroma and taste. Will not be in any hurry to go back, if ever!
Great bar tender. Drinks and oysters @ the bar make a wonderful starter for the evening. Table location was @ windows, Quiet corner. Terrific service & the fresh seafood platters were the best! Compliments to all @ The Old Oyster Factory! I visit there often! SWY
It was absolutely wonderful...I asked for a window table and got a window table where we could enjoy a beautiful sunset (not that the restaurant has control over the sunsets!). The food was perfect...in fact there was so much of it we had to pick and choose --- wife left the rice so she could focus on the seafood, I left the potatoes so that I could focus on the steak and shrimp. Our server was topnotch!! We visited on the recommendation of a friend and were NOT disappointed!!
We loved the crab dip. Sooooo yummy! We had a mixed a seafood entree and the scallops were the best we've ever had and we eat a lot of seafood. The rice was tasty too. The other portions of seafood were not that great. The salmon was a bit dry and fishy. The desserts were outstanding. One of the best key lime pie we've had and the sugar crusted mascapone was out of this world! I've never had a dessert quite like it! Service and ambiance were lovely.
Other than the ambiance of the building itself, our experience was very disappointing. The food, service, and the price did not meet our expectation. The price would have been satisfactory if the food and service were worthy. Red Lobster is much better than this.
We visited this restaurant that we had not visited for a while. They have a good menu selection and variety. The seafood is quite good and they also have steaks and other non-seafood entrees. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and prompt with our food and drinks.
We took our friends from New England to sit on the deck to enjoy the excellent seafood, warm evening, and Lowcountry sunset. They were so impressed! I had the seafood medley which was excellent, as was the halibut special, she crab soup, and crab cakes. Our waitress was delightful and efficient and handled the three bills perfectly. One of our very favorite places on HHI.
My husband and I married on HHI four years ago and had our reception dinner here. It's been my mom's favorite restaurant for almost 20 years and we return every year. My father had had a few bad meals (scallop dishes) here but overall the food has been great. The view is amazing and it's a great place to watch the sun set. The staff is always pleasant and beyond helpful. We will be back next year!
Very limited menu, poor service (slow) plus they brought out appetizers, salad and entre's all at the same time. The manager was courteous and acknowledged the problem. Even with perfect service we would not return because of the quality of the food and the limited menu.
Just OK. Waiter was not great which was part of the disappointment. Make sure you ask what the filet is in the medley... we did when the appetizers were delivered and was told it was too late to change when learned it was Salmon and mahi. Salmon in a broiled medley? Really and too late to change!! I don't think I need to say more. I eat fresh catch on the Jersey shore all summer and this was not close to that level. Best part of the meal was my soup of the day... a potato with crab.
