Old Oyster Factory Ratings and Reviews
Cannot get fresher sea food and Service is always excellent! Friend them on Facebook to find their events and specials which are not always listed on their regular menu.Very accommodating for handicapped. There is a wheel chair elevator. Many times I plan my trips from N.Y. to correspond with their events.
We loved the atmosphere and the food was wonderful. We had a table overlooking the water and enjoyed the lights over the waterway but I would recommend dining during daylight hours if you want to get the most enjoyment out of the view. I would definitely make a return visit next time I'm on Hilton Head!
We had a great experience. Service was very good. The food was very fresh and very good. The hush puppies were killer. They were so delicious, best I have ever eaten. I was told to go to watch the sun set. But when sunset is at 5 PM, we had to settle for going when it was already dark. The tables were spaced very well so you could not overhear other conversations. We would definitely go back.
Booked a table for a sunset view. They have a reduced price menu for sunset dining since it was off season and early evening. Nice selection of items to choose from but was disappointed that the crab cake platter only had one crab cake as an entree. The crab cake was tasty as was the gumbo. They give you a large basket of hush puppies for the table, which were very good. Restaurant has large glass windows overlooking Broad Creek which gives you a great view of the sunset. Well worth timing you dinner or drinks at the bar to see it.
Crab and artichoke dip was one of the best I’ve ever had. Old Fashioned cocktails a must. Tilapia was average and could have used more of a flavorful topping to make it really good as it can sometimes be a bland fish. Was hoping for more of a selection of oysters considering.. from VA, so wasn’t interested in getting my regular old reliable James River pearls for twic what I usually pay at home. I would still go back and try it again...
Went for Thanksgiving Dinner as we were on vacation and didn’t want to do all the cooking ourselves. Restaurant is lovely and the location does have amazing views of the marsh and waterways. The Thanksgiving menu had enough variety to suit everyone st our table, and the service was excellent. Our server went out of his way to be great with our kids and mother. All the food was excellent, except for the turkey, which was a pressed together “breast”. That’s the only reason it gets 4 stars. If a particular item is the star of the day, it’s best to go for the whole thing, and not cheap out on it. Everything else was excellent.
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner if I had one complaint it would be too much food, it was very good but after the first two courses I could not enjoy my main course as much as I wanted too. No complaint really just wish I had eaten only half of the first two courses so I could have eaten more of the three course. I guess this is a nice problem to have. We love the Old Oyster Factory and hope to return next year.
Wonderful dining experience on the water. Excellent views, service was impeccable, food very well prepared and presented, imaginative extra ingredients for exceptional depth of flavor. Highly recommended, worth the drive from wherever you are. You will love it!
Our Server, Brittney was amazing- so friendly & attentive. Her manager Bob was especially knowledgeable about the various oysters; and even brought 3 different ones for us to try, on the house! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was great! Looking forward to returning in a week!
Our last visit to what we considered one of our favorites was hampered by "thanksgiving eve " crowds. Service was still excellent. Once again my Open Table request for a window seat was honored for which I am grateful. The downside this evening was food quality-- bland crab cakes, soggy salad, dry swordfish. I will try another visit on a less hectic day. I'd hate to lose this spot to dine.
Expensive for an early dining menu, especially for meals that were of fair quality. Alcohol was overly expensive....when people are purchasing full meals, they should not have to pay an excessive amount for alcoholic beverages when there are happy hour prices in the bar. Fish was dry, potatoes were starchy and dry, veggies were under cooked, less than al dente. $7 dessert was not exceptional. Only saving grace for us was the excellent coffee served at the end of meal. It was steaming hot and had a superb aroma and taste. Will not be in any hurry to go back, if ever!
Great bar tender. Drinks and oysters @ the bar make a wonderful starter for the evening. Table location was @ windows, Quiet corner. Terrific service & the fresh seafood platters were the best! Compliments to all @ The Old Oyster Factory! I visit there often! SWY
It was absolutely wonderful...I asked for a window table and got a window table where we could enjoy a beautiful sunset (not that the restaurant has control over the sunsets!). The food was perfect...in fact there was so much of it we had to pick and choose --- wife left the rice so she could focus on the seafood, I left the potatoes so that I could focus on the steak and shrimp. Our server was topnotch!! We visited on the recommendation of a friend and were NOT disappointed!!
We loved the crab dip. Sooooo yummy! We had a mixed a seafood entree and the scallops were the best we've ever had and we eat a lot of seafood. The rice was tasty too. The other portions of seafood were not that great. The salmon was a bit dry and fishy. The desserts were outstanding. One of the best key lime pie we've had and the sugar crusted mascapone was out of this world! I've never had a dessert quite like it! Service and ambiance were lovely.
