This restaurant needs a makeover!
Our first in person meeting in 12 months! Outside on the beautiful secluded patio with attentive but not intrusive service, food large portions beautifully served and a location that we will definitely return to!
Lovely on the patio - shaded, water element, tables well spaced. Good reward for long months inside.
We always enjoy the Old Mill. We live close, so it's our local go-to place.
Booked on the patio, but the weather was iffy so we were set up inside. Nice room.
Enjoyed the lobster sliders and salmon.
Great ambiance and overall experience. We really enjoyed the courtyard patio. Will recommend to friends!
We are long time fans of the Old Mill and return at least once a year for tradition. We ordered the Lobster Slider, Steak Frittas and a Chicken sandwich. All entrees were excellent although portions were not overly generous. We shared a limond (lemon tart) for dessert and were disappointed so I would recommend another choice for dessert. The staff were very gracious, the setting was beautiful and there were tables with people who had been enjoying themselves for hours. Definitely a place to go if you want to enjoy a quiet, beautiful setting, without the pressure to rush. The restaurant was not noisy and there were plenty of nooks and crannies to choose from if you wanted a quiet, private space.
Great service and ambiance. Very accommodating staff.
It really needs to upgrade the food quality in order to match the beauty of the place. Wine list is decent
We had a lovely time, everything was perfect. I can't wait to try another entree & dessert.
Lovely quite peaceful patio in a lovely setting, very relaxfull
Food is not bad. Not the best but it’s not awful.
We booked a patio table for 6 people, but was squeezed to a tiny 4 people round table. Hope this will improve when everything reopens
We had an excellent brunch. Even though it rained and we could not sit on the patio area, we were able to dine in the solarium and it was lovely.
Beautiful patio. Great service. Food was hot and delicious.
Food wasn’t great, but the service was nice and the garden is beautiful
An overall good experience! Next time would request a table away from the fountain- found it too noisy for conversation with seniors. Also hand rails on stairs of bridge and entrance to interior from patio would be helpful. The demographic on the day we dined was mostly seniors.
The patio at the Old Mill is great!
A cozy place NOT close to or overlooking a car park.
The staff is very friendly and polite.
The lunch menu offered fun and light options
The salmon and lobster rolls were delicious.
I would return there in a heartbeat.
Thank you Old Mill 😀
This has been a family favorite for some time. Happy to be back!
Great ambiance, good food and friendly service....
The menu is very limited but we all found mains and desserts that appealed. A recent trip for brunch felt as though it had a broader choice. Food was good, especially the Cauliflower Bites.
The patio at the Old Mill is a little oasis in the city with a great ambiance and Old World charm. The food is good and prices are still reasonable.
We had a great time and the food was actually really good - we weren’t expecting it to be that great. We went mostly to enjoy the patio dining. We started with the truffle Parmesan fries. Then I had the steak frites (and more truffle fries), my friend had the lobster rolls and both meals were delicious. My other friend ordered a salad as her meal (I know why?!) but she also enjoyed it — but I think she could have ordered another item to feel full. The salad should have just been an appetizer/starter (as it was on the menu). But that was an ordering mistake and not the resto’s fault. We had a great time and would definitely go back to try brunch next time. We would have stayed a bit longer but the espresso machine was broken so we couldn’t get coffee at the end of our meal. But overall great experience - would highly recommend.
Lobster brioche made with canned lobster. For $27 not good value for money.
Food was good, waiter took long to come back, had to ask for him a couple of times
The food was very average and the service was just okay. However, enjoyed the time with my friends.
We'd been wanting to try out the Old Mill for a while, and were unfortunately quite disappointed with the experience. We had a reservation at 8pm, which they confirmed the day before.
Then, at 5:10 the day of our reservation they called to let us know that the kitchen would be closing at 8:20 -- 20 minutes after our reservation -- despite the hours being posted as staying open til 9 or 10, depending on where you look.
This didn't give us a chance to change the reservation or rework things with our babysitter, and it was not great to get this call less than 3 hours before the scheduled time.
On top of that, the food was quite mediocre. The menu was very limited and basic, and nothing we got was anything above average. The selection of wines were mostly cheap, low-quality wines, and the wine we did order was tough to drink -- and we aren't wine snobs by any means. Put together, the wine and drink were "tourist trap" quality, we felt (though at least they weren't too overpriced).
The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed, though I'll chalk that up to this being only a few weeks after reopening patios. And they were friendly, just a bit disorganized.
The ambiance is great, and the building is quite cool, but the overall food quality and general experience were nothing to write home about and I sadly don't see us going back any time soon.
Really enjoyed my first experience here. The food and the service was great!
Been here many times and the food was excellent. Now it is overpriced. The service was very slow to the point we almost left having been left waiting to be seated.. and again after we sat down before our server came. Won’t be visiting here again.. 😔
It was great to be back - we loved our dinner on the patio. Food was delicious and nicely served; we found the choices of the mains somewhat limited - additional two or three entrees would be welcome. We plan to come, again, soon.
Had a really good time at Old Mill! Beautiful building and a lovely dining experience! The food was all delicious and the waiter was very helpful and sweet! Always had a full glass of water and received food promptly after ordering! Definitely looking forward to coming back
Packed patio of people and 2 staff. NOT THE LEVEL OF SERVICE I have known for the last 40 years of going to the Old Mill.
Food was great but service was super slow and the table next to us had a bunch of super loud children who were using the patio as a playground while there parents just sat there enjoying their meal. It the clientele we are used to.
I suggest the restaurant properly staff the patio or just not open cause that super slow service will not be tolerated long at those prices with pandemic weary clients.
The patio is stunning, set in a luscious garden with a pond/fountain. The service was impeccable (Val was our server). The experience was great for a first outing after being locked in for months due to Covid. Highly recommend for a special occasion outing. The truffle fries are worth the calories and the heirloom tomato salad with honeyed ricotta was delicious with a side of grilled salmon.
Took my gorgeous wife of 21 years out for a spontaneous dinner. We have older teenage kids and they hate restaurants which is perfect for us to re-live our adventurous personalities. We had never been to the restaurant and you have to walk through it to get to the outdoor patio. The best way to describe the restaurant is like a cross between an old castle dining area and a Viking drinking hall. It’s spectacular with tons of books and crannies. You can immediately sense that a lot of people had an amazing time there over the years. Apparently they had live music Pre-COVID which only makes it that much more perfect for a night out. Did not feel stuffy at all. Anyway the courtyard is amazing. The tables and chairs rest on random flagstones surrounded by small garden beds and the whole thing is encircled by the Tudor restaurant and castle like walls of the hotel…very medieval. The guests were from all walks of the planet and it was everything from first dates to small parties to Instagramers and everyone was having fun. The menu was nice and simple with a dozen or so items, I had the lobster rolls my wife the steak and both were fantastic. Drinks were on the house….just kidding. Our servers name was McKenzie he was awesome and made us feel very comfortable and was very knowledgeable of the restaurant and it’s history, his parents got married there. Great great guy. All the staff that greeted us were amazing as well very friendly Would definitely go back
Service was great! Our table was cleared promptly after each course! Ambiance and scenery was stunning, I would have liked a couple more menu options however given the Covid situation, it seems fair that they’d have a simplified menu.
I would like to point out that it was definitely a more mature crowd - very mature lol like I’m talking seniors only…
Tried and true, glad to have at least outdoor dining back.
Recommend for Food excellent, service excellent.
Not recommend for Safety: 6 feet distance needs to be strictly observed. They sat another party just beside our table 1 foot away when there were numerous other tables vacant. The canopy was placed and all were not masked so not safe at all. Would have been better if open to air. The guests should not be allowed to choose their seats especially if public measures are not adhered to. Tables should be removed where deemed not 6 feet away from others when guests are seated. Either that or they should have asked my table if we were okay to seat other guests so close like that.
It was good
It was very pretty to be in the stone courtyard with the trees and the fountain. The food and service exceptional!!
