Food was delicious I would differently be back to dine there.
We are four friends celebrating our birthdays and we could not have picked a better place. We were seated on time, great table and our Server, Andrew, was very helpful and informative. The steaks were very tender and tasty and the sides were perfect. Sorry we did not leave any room for your desserts. We will be back to the Gaylord and your wonderful Steak House
Food overall was good. But what made the experience fantastic was our waiter, Ruben. He was attentive and had a great personality.
It was amazing as always!! Professionalism, great decor, service was outstanding. I’ll be back very soon!!
My husband's ribeye was succulent and flavorful. The aspargus were cooked with sheer perfection. My "special" was not so. I was told the steak had been aged for 30 days and had great marbling. There was no marbling - major disappointment as I enjoy meat and fat on my steaks. All other items were divine, but if we were to return, I WOULD NOT ORDER THE SPECIAL.
The menu could really use an update as the choices lack anything new in the last five or so years of coming here. The restaurant was fairly empty but the kitchen still seemed slow. We will choose a different venue for our client dinner next year... sad to say.
Girls weekend...three friends for a special dinner. When we checked in, the waiting area was full and we were told, “we will seat you when the rest of the people are seated.” This turned out to be 25 minutes past our reservation time. (There was an important political conference there this weekend that I think they were entirely unprepared for.) asked to speak to the manager, who pretty much said, “I will stop accomodating walk-ins...” yeah. That might be a start. Our server, Steve, was friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, not as much about the cheese tray (which was dropped off without so much as an explanation), but sometimes not to be found (and at that time it wasn’t nearly as busy). Dinner was good (filet was cooked perfectly) but certainly not the experience you pay that kind of money for. I won’t return to this restaurant because of the service, no matter how good the food was.
Gristle in steak - over priced
Almost too noisy for a conversation. Pleasant front desk
Crabcakes were delicious and service was superb!
We waited for 90 minutes for our entree to arrive. Finally the manager came over and told us that they were going to start our salmon. Uninterested staff. Will not be returning g.
We are in town for CPAC convention and my sons 18th birthday.
Steve was our server...he was friendly, knowledgeable, energetic, recommended some of his favorites which were amazing!
Aidan had the duck, I had the halibut. We had a side of garlic mashed potatoes, a must!!! Key lime pie for dessert, another must!
Steve was fantastic and definitely made our experience very enjoyable!
Excellent! Great food and service! Plus there is an outdoor cigar area.
I made a reservation and arrived early. The hostess made us wait and when we were eventually seated, we realized that the restaurant was almost empty. Why make us wait?
Ordered a fillet mignon. I didn’t realize that it didn’t come with vegetables and a side. The waiter didn’t explain. He did recommend a sauce for my meat (which was delicious) and I assumed it was included. I didn’t realize that it was an extra cost. So in the end I had a fillet mignon and sauce.
Very expensive meal! Although the meat was delicious, I will not go again.
We were staying at the Gaylord and this is one of 2 dinner restaurants in the hotel, the other being a burger and pizza sports bar. This restaurant is a high end steakhouse and absolutely wonderful. I had the twin lobster tails and they were cooked to perfection. They also have an extensive wine list and the Napa Cab we selected was delicious. Be prepared to make a reservation way in advance and to pay a lot for this really good hotel restaurant.
Our waiter did not know we had been sat in another room so he didn’t come by until after we had been waiting a good amount of time and my husband found a manager. He and the waiter apologized. The food was ok. They didn’t have the steak we ordered so we got the rib-eye. It was ok but nothing I couldn’t do at home. It was an ok experience
50th pre-birthday celebration, it was a great experience.
This was not the experience we’ve come to expect from the Old Hickory Steakhouse. We have always been fans of their Maitre du Fromage and the care that went in to selecting cheeses for the cheese flight. Imagine our surprise when we paid top dollar to have a platter of cheese simply dropped on the table with no explanation of what was even being offered. This became a problem when we tried a cheese that included cayenne pepper, which I cannot eat! Loss of this service calls our return as guests into question when there are so many other quality restaurants nearby.
Our waiter was good but that’s about all that was enjoyable. There was nothing special about our meal that warranted a $450.00 bill. At a fancy place you expect hot towels to clean up and palette cleaners between courses. There were small small small sides for $15 and they were not that flavorful. Also, they charge for steak sauce!!!! Just seems like a cheap place with no real flavor.
Excellent food and service. We were initially sat at a table that was by the kitchen. The staff had no issues moving us to a more private table. We will visit again.
The service and food were great. The only issue I had is that your on line menu needs to be updated. On line showed lamb which is my wife’s favorite. When we got there the waiter told us we were looking at an old website, but it is the menu from the Old Hickory Steakhouse website.
Great service, wonderful staff, wonderful offerings and on-spot suggestions!
Great setting for business meeting . Waiters were the proper level of attentive but did not interrupt when they should not.
One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food was phenomenal and cooked to order. Our waiter Andrew was there to refill whatever we needed when needed.
The service and the food were great. Love this restaurant. Be back soon.
Just not worth the money. Ambiance and food not to par with many great steakhouses in the area. For the money and location better served at the Voltaggio brothers restaurant at MGM.
The food is always spot on. We recommend the sea bass and the duck! I wish they would bring the risotto back
First time at Old Hickory and what better way to try a new restaurant other than Restaurant Week. It was a Tuesday, so the restaurant was relatively empty. We were seated in a half table/half booth adorned with high arm rests and throw pillows. Andrew, our server, made the whole experience great. He made several recommendations on the regular and restaurant menus, all that we followed were good choices. We started the 3 cheese sampler, which was not part of the restaurant week menu. Our actual meals came from the restaurant week menu. My sister and I took his restaurant week recommendation of the cauliflower and parsnip puree and my sister took his other recommendation of the braised short ribs, I ordered the shrimp and my mom opted to order from the regular menu and ordered the lobster bisque and mixed greens salad. The wines we had paired perfectly with the courses. My only issue was with the s'mores. There was coconut in the meringue, but was not mentioned in the description. I'm allergic, so it wasn't a good thing. Will definitely return and request Andrew as the server.
Old Hickory is an upscaled restuarant with high quality food. I went there during restuarant week to take advantage of the lower price. I ate from the restaurant week special menu which the portion size was larger than I expected and the same great quality. My husband and I eat here mostly for special occasions such as anniversaries and birthday.
Server was never to be found. I think it must have had tables in other room because he was never around us. Our food waited on the tray beside our table for 10 minutes. Dinner wine wasn't served till i was on my last bite. Portions were small and meat was dry. Kids at table beside us were playing ball in the aisle.
Not worth the cost. Wanted to treat my wife to a nice dinner during restaurant week at National Harbor. Made reservations ahead of time through Open Table and requested a romantic setting. Unfortunately, there was some sort of cheer-leading tournament going on and the hotel/restaurant was full of rambunctious little ones. Not the restaurant's fault, just bad timing. We had a window view, but stared right into the ballroom building next door. The special menu for restaurant week left a lot to be desired. The choices were limited and the food was not tasty at all. We ordered a couple of specialty drinks because the bar looked promising. We again were disappointed because the drinks weren't very good either. By far, one of the worst dinner experiences we've had in almost 24 years of marriage. In the restaurant's defense, their normal menu may have been better, but we won't be going back to find out.
Overall was a very pleasant dinner
The seafood appetizer was great. It was all fresh and delicious. Sad the French Onion soup was gone from the menu. The steak was certainly good, but could have been better seasoned. The service started poorly with staff, who seemed new to the restaurant, seating us poorly and a waiter who pointed out unasked that they don’t do frozen cocktails. About 10 minutes in, our waiter was back in groove, knowledgeable and pouring samples of wine to be sure we got the right one. Overall a nice evening. It left me thinking that it wouldn’t take very much for them to go from a good steakhouse to a great one.
I've eaten at many different steakhouses in my 58 years. My girl and I got the 38 oz. tomahawk ribeye for two. Hands down the best steak we've ever eaten. Service was perfect and friendly. Cost was a little high but we'll definitely be back!
If you like fancy Old World Charm I guess this place has it. The food is expensive, our waiter never offered to refill our drinks, my wife’s tea was weak, my T-Bone was a 9 on one side and 3 on the other. I asked for Medium and they got one side right. I could not eat half my steak. The sides were $15 & the loaded potato was Wendy’s grade. Last gripe: we got a window seat.....with the Ball Room perfectly blocking our view of the River.
Absolutely superb! Kudos to our waiter Marc who was very attentive to our needs and made the experience one of the best dining experience we have ever had.
The service and quality of food was very good. All person were friendly and the speed and accuracy of the food delivery was great.
Odd evening. We’re returning customers and have always had a good experience until last night. Despite the reservation m, we waited a half hour for our table. The bar was full of others waiting for tables, so nowhere to wait. When we were seated, there were over 10 open large tables, so perhaps short handed?
Meal was great overall, though my waygu steak was very low on marbling and flavor (and $90). I did not complain and did not highlight, just didn’t eat much. The waiter asked why I’d not eaten much and I answered. Within a few moments the chef came out and dropped two raw steaks onto our table, stopping our conversation and shocking our waiter. The chef proceeded to explain why we must be ignorant of the cut and we should see to learn more. The waiter stopped him, saying “Are you kidding?”. I felt so bad for our waiter, he was mortified.
We’d return, except who knows if the chef will throw meat at people again, so we will scratch this place off of our list.
Best crab cakes I’ve ever had! Don’t miss them!
Even though I made my reservation with OpenTable my family and I had to wait in the lobby for 25 minutes before being seated in a room with many open tables. When our food finally arrived it was placed next to our table by someone. We sat there staring at it for 5 minutes before our waiter came by to put it on the table. I was about to serve the plates myself, and probably should have, but didn't.
Their dinner rolls are not as good as any regular rolls you get at the grocery store or Costco so at least we didn't fill up on those.
Will not recommend or ever go back.
New chef is amazing. Seafood tower and cowboy steak were spot on. F and B manger was welcoming. Waiter was beyond polite and experienced. A great evening.
