Old Hickory Steakhouse

Our waiter was good but that’s about all that was enjoyable. There was nothing special about our meal that warranted a $450.00 bill. At a fancy place you expect hot towels to clean up and palette cleaners between courses. There were small small small sides for $15 and they were not that flavorful. Also, they charge for steak sauce!!!! Just seems like a cheap place with no real flavor.
Great setting for business meeting . Waiters were the proper level of attentive but did not interrupt when they should not.
One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food was phenomenal and cooked to order. Our waiter Andrew was there to refill whatever we needed when needed.
The service and the food were great. Love this restaurant. Be back soon.
Just not worth the money. Ambiance and food not to par with many great steakhouses in the area. For the money and location better served at the Voltaggio brothers restaurant at MGM.
The food is always spot on. We recommend the sea bass and the duck! I wish they would bring the risotto back
First time at Old Hickory and what better way to try a new restaurant other than Restaurant Week. It was a Tuesday, so the restaurant was relatively empty. We were seated in a half table/half booth adorned with high arm rests and throw pillows. Andrew, our server, made the whole experience great. He made several recommendations on the regular and restaurant menus, all that we followed were good choices. We started the 3 cheese sampler, which was not part of the restaurant week menu. Our actual meals came from the restaurant week menu. My sister and I took his restaurant week recommendation of the cauliflower and parsnip puree and my sister took his other recommendation of the braised short ribs, I ordered the shrimp and my mom opted to order from the regular menu and ordered the lobster bisque and mixed greens salad. The wines we had paired perfectly with the courses. My only issue was with the s'mores. There was coconut in the meringue, but was not mentioned in the description. I'm allergic, so it wasn't a good thing. Will definitely return and request Andrew as the server.
Old Hickory is an upscaled restuarant with high quality food. I went there during restuarant week to take advantage of the lower price. I ate from the restaurant week special menu which the portion size was larger than I expected and the same great quality. My husband and I eat here mostly for special occasions such as anniversaries and birthday.
Server was never to be found. I think it must have had tables in other room because he was never around us. Our food waited on the tray beside our table for 10 minutes. Dinner wine wasn't served till i was on my last bite. Portions were small and meat was dry. Kids at table beside us were playing ball in the aisle.
Not worth the cost. Wanted to treat my wife to a nice dinner during restaurant week at National Harbor. Made reservations ahead of time through Open Table and requested a romantic setting. Unfortunately, there was some sort of cheer-leading tournament going on and the hotel/restaurant was full of rambunctious little ones. Not the restaurant's fault, just bad timing. We had a window view, but stared right into the ballroom building next door. The special menu for restaurant week left a lot to be desired. The choices were limited and the food was not tasty at all. We ordered a couple of specialty drinks because the bar looked promising. We again were disappointed because the drinks weren't very good either. By far, one of the worst dinner experiences we've had in almost 24 years of marriage. In the restaurant's defense, their normal menu may have been better, but we won't be going back to find out.
Overall was a very pleasant dinner
The seafood appetizer was great. It was all fresh and delicious. Sad the French Onion soup was gone from the menu. The steak was certainly good, but could have been better seasoned. The service started poorly with staff, who seemed new to the restaurant, seating us poorly and a waiter who pointed out unasked that they don’t do frozen cocktails. About 10 minutes in, our waiter was back in groove, knowledgeable and pouring samples of wine to be sure we got the right one. Overall a nice evening. It left me thinking that it wouldn’t take very much for them to go from a good steakhouse to a great one.
I've eaten at many different steakhouses in my 58 years. My girl and I got the 38 oz. tomahawk ribeye for two. Hands down the best steak we've ever eaten. Service was perfect and friendly. Cost was a little high but we'll definitely be back!
If you like fancy Old World Charm I guess this place has it. The food is expensive, our waiter never offered to refill our drinks, my wife’s tea was weak, my T-Bone was a 9 on one side and 3 on the other. I asked for Medium and they got one side right. I could not eat half my steak. The sides were $15 & the loaded potato was Wendy’s grade. Last gripe: we got a window seat.....with the Ball Room perfectly blocking our view of the River.
Absolutely superb! Kudos to our waiter Marc who was very attentive to our needs and made the experience one of the best dining experience we have ever had.
The service and quality of food was very good. All person were friendly and the speed and accuracy of the food delivery was great.
Odd evening. We’re returning customers and have always had a good experience until last night. Despite the reservation m, we waited a half hour for our table. The bar was full of others waiting for tables, so nowhere to wait. When we were seated, there were over 10 open large tables, so perhaps short handed?
Meal was great overall, though my waygu steak was very low on marbling and flavor (and $90). I did not complain and did not highlight, just didn’t eat much. The waiter asked why I’d not eaten much and I answered. Within a few moments the chef came out and dropped two raw steaks onto our table, stopping our conversation and shocking our waiter. The chef proceeded to explain why we must be ignorant of the cut and we should see to learn more. The waiter stopped him, saying “Are you kidding?”. I felt so bad for our waiter, he was mortified.
We’d return, except who knows if the chef will throw meat at people again, so we will scratch this place off of our list.
Best crab cakes I’ve ever had! Don’t miss them!
Even though I made my reservation with OpenTable my family and I had to wait in the lobby for 25 minutes before being seated in a room with many open tables. When our food finally arrived it was placed next to our table by someone. We sat there staring at it for 5 minutes before our waiter came by to put it on the table. I was about to serve the plates myself, and probably should have, but didn't.
Their dinner rolls are not as good as any regular rolls you get at the grocery store or Costco so at least we didn't fill up on those.
Will not recommend or ever go back.
New chef is amazing. Seafood tower and cowboy steak were spot on. F and B manger was welcoming. Waiter was beyond polite and experienced. A great evening.
Steaks were great, sides were small. There wasn't much atmosphere, they need to lower the lights or something so you don't feel like you're in a big empty banquet hall.
We absolutely loved our service - our waiter went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional experience
Ruben was wonderful and will be back!!!
Mark is the best waiter and they have fantastic drinks
Steak and salmon were fantastic. Still love the cheese selection but disappointed they don’t have the cheese cart anymore. Good selection of wine. Music was a bit loud for us but they turned it done at our request. All in all a great dining experience.
Nice!!! Good experience and beautiful place!!!!!!!!!
We dined at this restaurant for New Year’s Eve with a group of friends. It was our first time but to our surprise, the table didn’t have a tablecloth when all other tables in the restaurant were covered. I had made the reservation two months ago and also confirmed the same day via phone but when we arrived we waited for the set up and even then the tablecloth was missing.
On the other hand, the customer service and the service in general was actually very good.
That said, I don’t think I would return at this restaurant.
Steak was mediocre at best, stick to the sides and save your $$$ or stop by the McD’s on the way out you won’t be as disappointed. The best thing about the place was the decor and the view. Additionally, the nice lady who checked us in as well as validated our parking pass was the only one who was friendly and smiling.
Ruben, our waiter, was a class act and made us feel at home.
Great food and service.
This was our third time eating at the Old Hickory Steakhouse. (We’ve eaten at the one in Florida and now the one in Maryland.) This place never disappoints. The food is off the charts and the service is always excellent! We will always take the opportunity to eat here whenever we are near one. Amazing!!
Ruben was an amazing server!! Made us feel very special and attended to during our meal. The food was amazing and every piece was perfect!! Presentation was tremendous, we will be back. We loved our experience!
We were seated more than a half hour after our reservation time, despite many empty tables. Manager not particularly apologetic but in the end gave us a discount. Food excellent and service good once they took our order.
Disappointing. Went for an Anniversary dinner when on a brief getaway staying at the Gaylord. I had read a few negative reviews but since more positive, it seemed a good choice. Wrong.
We were seated quickly. But first right in the doorway to the restaurant. The hostess had told the lady taking us to the table it was an add on so not on the chart. The restaurant was only half full our whole meal. Why the add on? We asked for a different table and were placed at an ok table next to a wall. Definitely not the view I requested, but I understand no guarantees in life. Then our server came to our table. Wow, so sorry to inconvenience her with having dinner. Absolutely no engagement. She poured water. She didn’t ask can I get you something to drink. We initiated the drink order. Never were we asked if we would like another drink. In fact, twice we had to track her down to get a refill of tap water (not offered any choice as another review described). She brought our drinks and asked “what do you want”-for real. We ordered the mixed green salad . Whipped potatoes and Asparagus. I had the filet, my husband the NY strip. We received a giant basket of rolls by either a runner or other server. Our salads came out. They were good. Next our entrees and sides. Very good steaks. The save of the night. We chased down water a couple of times. Server returned once to ask if our dinner is Ok. We finished . We sat. We sat. Another server noticed and cleared our table. Ours did not come over. Did not ask if we want dessert. Certainly not even a mention of “Happy Anniversary “ at any point during the meal We would have had coffee afterward (and a few additional cocktails during) but again we just sat. We flagged her down for the check and paid. Dinner lasted about an hour. Typically on such occasions we would have had cocktails or wine, lingered over coffee and dessert. The meal would be the celebratory evening.
We basically went in and had a steak.
The experience was rather disorganized. We had a 7:30 reservation, checked in on time, and was told that there was one more reservation before us. We had a seat in the waiting area and watched the disorganization of the hostess and two others who were seating people. No one quite seemed to know how to manage the reservations. Those with reservations all had to wait and walk in patrons were turned away. We were finally seated almost 25 minutes after checking in and when we walked through the restaurant, it was half empty so we were confused as to why we waited as long as we did. Our waiter was nice enough and the food was good, however, our asparagus came out several minutes after everything else. It was not a relaxing, enjoyable experience.
Super disappointed by our service. Our waitress had an attitude from the moment we sat down. Never bothered asking if we need anything or if we want drink refill. To top it off she added an extra 18 dollar drink that we had not ordered and had the audacity to argue with us that we ordered it. We were there for our wedding anniversary and are also staying at the hotel but would NEVER go back! Also make sure to check your bill!!!
Food was ok. We also were able to get a nice view of the show.
Very professional, personable and efficient staff. Our family of 10 ordered many different items from the menu and everyone was highly pleased with the quality of the food. The atmosphere was pleasing. If we return to this hotel we definitely will be eating here again.
We had reservations for 5 of us. My husband & I brought our daughter, son in law and 18 month old grandson. Our Waiter "Happy" was phenomenal!!! The moment we sat down he was right there ready for us. He made us feel as if we were his only clients for the evening. He did everything to ensure a memorable, delicious meal even making me a special horseradish sauce that was so yummy. I cannot give enough praise too Happy. Our food was delicious and prepared perfectly. This is not the first time for my Husband & I and certainly won't be our last.
This place is definitely not what it used to be. We have had amazing experiences in the past but this visit fell short. We were rushed by the waiter to order our entrees when ordering starters and they were not that busy. We were there to celebrate the holidays and not be rushed and the waiter appeared annoyed. Also disappointed they did away with the cheese cart. What we got when we ordered it did not meet our expectations. For such an expansive meal I expect a bit more in quality and overall service. I don't see us returning unfortunately....it's not worth it.
The food was good. I was a little disappointed in the seating. We did have reservations and I told them we were celebrating a few milestones (60th Birthday, a retirement and a 37th wedding Anniversary). I reminded the hostess that the 4 of us adults were celebrating. We were seated next to a family who had 4 small children under the age of 6 years old. There were other areas I feel would of had better ambiance. The white table cloth was all wrinkled so there was no attention to detail and it looked sloppy. Our waiter was alright, he did tell us what not to order... thought that was a little weird. I do have to say the food and wine was good. The family beside us had well behaved children so the dinner was still nice and we had a nice time.
