My wife’s Halibut was over cooked and cold and my $66 aged Delmonico ordered rare was well done and Luke warm
I don’t like to write a bad review for a restaurant but I feel like I have to write something so that other people can decide how they want to spend their money and time.
The night started off with us being sat at a bad table in the corner of one of the inside sections. I asked for an open table in any of the open sections of the restaurant and was told they would do their best to accommodate us, but they couldn’t when we showed up. I told them I wanted a different table and saw a few open booths in another section. We were moved to another bad table and told those other open booths were not available. After eating our dinner we noticed that no one ever sat in those open tables that I requested. I asked the waiter why we couldn’t sit there and he said he didn’t know. Those tables were his tables and were available. When I spoke to the manager she apologized and told me she had no idea why we weren’t sat at those tables. She blamed it on new employees.
Our meal was not cheap. It cost over $400 for four of us, so you would think they would want to make you as comfortable as possible. If I was eating at a Diner I wouldn’t care where we sat, but this was an important business dinner and I wanted it to be special.
Now about the meal itself, it was mediocre at best. Honestly the only truly enjoyable thing I had was the cocktail and the dessert.
We ordered the cowboy ribeye which was ok, the filet which was nice and the grouper special which was so over cooked we couldn’t eat it. The sides were just ok as well. The fries were cold, the Mac and cheese was bland, and the creamed spinach was too thick.
The problem I have with this restaurant is they are acting like a fine steakhouse and charging the prices of a fine steakhouse, but they are falling way short of being one. So all that being said, if you are staying at the Gaylord Palms hotel this restaurant is a convenient choice, but certainly not worth the cost.
I wished I would have gone somewhere else.
Beyond perfection. The food and service spot on. Highly recommend.
Food and wine so over priced. Steaks were over cooked. Won’t go back
Delicious as always. Service is great.
Was great place to enjoy Mother’s Day
Delicious steak and wine and beautiful place
Steak was slap your momma good. Got the cowboy ribeye and was probably one of the best steaks ever.
Great food and ambiance. Wish they had 10-12 oz cuts of the steaks (other than filet). It is at the Gaylord, so scenery is fantastic, but since most guests are traveling, it’s not like I would take food to go. Average cut is 16oz. I’ve been there twice and highly recommend.
Over-priced for very average food. Seated in a busy through-way between 2 serving station ( and this was WITH a reservation).....for as much as we spent on the food I expected better, quieter, and above average food options. Serving staff excellent!
Dry aged prime steak was extremely tough $66, asparagus was raw. Service was great.
We had dinner for our Anniversary. I have in my profile that I have Celiac and follow a strict GF diet. Our waiter wasted no time and quickly came over and walked me through everything that was safe for me eat. They even modified one dish, pan frying instead of putting in the fryer. This was one of the best meals we have ever had. It WELL surpassed our already high expectations.
Excellent. Congratulaciones on the best food, presentation, service and kindness
Mother’s Day early dinner, our server (Ron I think) was exceptional, answered questions, patient, great recommendations.
excellent steaks , large portions, excellent service
I was disappointed on my visit to the Old Hickory. The prices on the wine list were very inflated even for an upscale restaurant. The meal prices were also inflated. We had to pay $3.00 each just to get sauce for our steaks. My New York strip was well prepared but it had lots of unchewables. On almost every bite I had some part that I could not chew and had to place in my napkin. We won't be returning.
Great meal. Service was excellent and ambiance was unique sitting in that atrium.
Server was friendly and helpful. Family style sides were great. Steaks cooked properly.
Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Worth the money!
Food very well prepared. Seating was great.
Really cool atmosphere. Great wait staff. Food was pricy for the actual quality. Pay more for just the experience. All 3 steaks weren’t cooked correctly. Sides were good. Drink menu is good. French press coffee was excellent. Just disappointed in the steaks.
Great food and service. I recommend Old Hickory for a great steak.
In the past we have consistently enjoyed our food and experience at Old Hickory. However, this trip was rather disappointing compared to our previous trips.
-The Beef Tartar was a large portion however the coloring and taste seemed a little off. Any other restaurant I have ordered it at, the color has been more red and it tastes more fresh. The Beef Tartar here was brown and looked/smelled old, accompanied with a sour taste.
-Our wedge salads had very little toppings and was missing the cheese entirely.
-One of our favorite parts of Old Hickory is their Brussel Sprouts. The dish is normally crispy, full of thick bacon, and covered in delicious black salt. This trip they were undercooked, had one piece of bacon, and no salt. We mentioned to our server the way they typically prepared them in the past, and he said they “change how they prepare them - next week I think they are deep frying them.” It is a regular menu item that had never been changed in our previous trips so we thought it was odd.
-One steak we ordered was good, but the other was dry, overdone, and lacked flavor. We didn’t want to complain too much and with already expressing our concerns with the sprouts with no solution provided, we decided to stay quiet and just eat our mistake of ordering Pittsburgh Style.
-Sally one of our servers was incredibly kind and accommodating. Our other server, who I prefer not to mention by name, was kind but did not cater to our concerns the way that we had hoped, but rather gave us excuses instead of offering a solution.
+We truly appreciated our complimentary dessert given it was my birthday and we informed our servers how grateful we were.
+The hostesses were kind as well and the wait staff filling our water and bringing our food were also friendly.
Overall, we don’t think this was a $200+ meal & we will probably be going somewhere else for future steak dinners as we can’t count on a “constant changing menu” of regular food items that we so look forward to.
Food and service was exceptional for our family reunion to celebrate our anniversary!
Brian our server did an outstanding job!
Food was good but came really really fast.
We stay at the Gaylord Properties every year for our annual work conference and every year we eat at the Old Hickory Steakhouse. It is amazing each and every time!
Old Hickory Steakhouse is the go-to restaurant at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Excellent food; attentive service without rushing you through the meal.
Service was exceptional and the food delicious. I took a small team here and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. Actually, I’d look forward to it!
Old Hickory has a quiet, soothing atmosphere, and we eat there each time we pass through Orlando. Our waitress, Sharon, was outstanding. She seemed to anticipate our every need, and gave us relaxing time to enjoy our cocktails, while also checking on us periodically. We basically eat at nice restaurants where the staff is polite and attentive, so we are accustomed to good service. However, Sharon is a cut above. We had a delicious dinner, topped off with a wonderful chocolate soufflé. It was a delightful evening!
Delicious as always!!!! My favorite steak place of all time!
The filet is ok..nothing special and the sideS, although advertised as family style were not. Very small portions for 2 people to share. Particulary mashed potatoes. I have had many dinners at Morton’s, Ruby’s, etc. they are a much better
Possibly the worst steakhouse meal I’ve had in many years. Ordered the $65.00 prime Delmonico and out came a tough, fatty piece of meat. My customer ordered the same and received another poor piece of meat. The restaurant is so dark you need your phone to see the poor cuts - perhaps to hide the quality?
Brussels with bacon were not cooked - very hard and tasteless. Chocolate soufflé was terrific but the accompanying vanilla ice cream was freezer burned.
Restaurant credited one steak but the damage was done.
Good (but not great) food; prompt, friendly service.
Our server was excellent and the food was incredible; however, the pricing was a little bit more than a good steakhouse. Would not have been a problem but since we were taking clients we had to be somewhat careful of what we were ordering and it’s not like you can say that during dinner
We started with nice Willamette Valley pinot noir.
The salad was fresh with a lovely viniagrette.
My wife’s filet was slightly overcooked - crusty hardened on the outside.
The bone-in short rib was so tender!
The chocolate souffle for dessert was divine.
Terrific service from Kain!
Abdel our server is top notch. He is the reason we visit the old hickory steakhouse.
Food has gone down hill over the years, service very poor a disappointing experience and will not be back to this particular restaurant until they pull their socks up
Steaks were so so. Ordered my $60 steak rare and it came out med rare. The steak wasn’t that flavorful but it was tender. A little salt and pepper helped! The mac and cheese was more like a garlic and cream sauce not a true Mac and cheese. Our waiter was amazing and super nice and accommodating for the kids! I wouldn’t go there again and pay that type of money for something that wasn’t even as good as what comes off of your grill at home with a good quality cut steak but the atmosphere was nice and no issues with service.
Wonderful experience and not often can you take two children under ten years old to a "fancy steakhouse". They even offer a kids filet ($30) as well! Definitely recommend the chocolate souffle!
Our dinner was delicious the service was outstanding!
Great food and service. Would recommend to anyone and even family friendly.
