Okay, but not great.
Old Hickory seems to bill itself as an upscale steakhouse but it's not quite there. As a comparison, the food, service, and ambience are about 75% of what Morton's offers, with a price that's 125% of Morton's. So higher price, poorer experience.
There's nothing overtly wrong with the food or service. The steaks and sides are acceptable, and service is pleasant and reasonably attentive. The menu is pretty small for a place like this, but all the main things are covered. It's just not amazing enough to justify the price premium.
If business forces me to stay at the Gaylord Palms again, I'll probably go back, but that's mostly because there are so few other options within the resort. If you're not staying at the Gaylord, there are many better choices in the area.
The service was outstanding. All the food was overall very bland.
Wonderful ambiance and attentive staff.
Filet was cooked to perfection.
Very expensive
What a letdown from years past. Old Hickory used to be a wonderful experience and now it’s reduced to horrible food and uneven service.
Admittedly my wife and I both had fish (instead of steak) but both of our meals were inedible. Rubbery, overcooked fish with lukewarm sides. That’s completely unnecessary for a restaurant of this caliber.
I won’t recommend Old Hickory nor will I return. There were other service issues in addition to the food that will keep me from giving the restaurant another chance.
Absolutely love this place. The service is OUTSTANDING! I get welcomed back. Such a great place to entertain!
The dinner was outstanding, again. After the meal I was waiting for another business group to be finished with their dinner and we surprised one of the group with a birthday cake and gift. He was so surprised he just couldn’t believe it. Thank you to your staff for the perfect job in executing the perfect surprise!
Excellent service. Great dining experience. The food was first rate
Outstanding food. Great service and atmosphere. Not inexpensive!
Our waitress was outstanding. She normally works the bar but was pulled to wait that night. OUTSTANDING
EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. we ate at Ruth Chris in Orlando last week. old hickory was far better then Ruth Chris.

We ate "outside" on the deck. Of course, it's not really outside as it's inside the atrium, but it had an outside feel enhanced by fans from below blowing on the palm trees off the deck that gave the feeling of outside. It was nice because there wasn't the humidity you get outside in Florida. We were there for Valentine's night so the number of potential children was reduced to almost zero, which made for a nice adult evening. The food was very good and the service was great. The wine list was quite good with prices ranging from normal to very expensive. We ended the evening with a chocolate souffle which was the best we'd ever had. OK, it was also the only one we've ever had, but, still, very good!
The prices for the entrees ranged from the 30's to the 60's for the special steaks. Remember, this is a resort so the prices are going to be above average. You are paying for location, service and ambiance. If you find the prices to be too much, don't complain, just don't go there! We had a great time and would do it again.
Prime steak was tough; brussel sprouts were like a salt lick
Great service. Food was amazing, from the appetizers to dessert. If you love quality food and service, Old Hickory Steakhouse is the restaurant for you.
Coming back this week for another two day’s. so will definitely dine with you again
Excellent service and food. Incredible ambiance and setting.
Lovely place for a special occasion. Ribeye steak was amazing. They did forget my sauces that I’d ordered with my steak but they soon corrected that plus they didn’t charge us for it. Definitely recommend trying it out , will be back for a revisit.
Amazing food and service. Thanks again. Alex Blasscyk
The service was wonderful, waiter was very attentive and polite. We were very disappointed with the food, especially with having to pay over $200 for our meals. We most likely wouldn’t return here.
Excellent as always
It was a great experience and they were so personable there. We are going back every year for our anniversary from here on.
Nice quiet place for an intimate dinner service was excellent food very good pricey but worth it
Okay this place is incredible. My wife and I go here as much as we can & it's a quiet place set an incredible hotel at the Gaylord Palm. The ambiance is second to none It makes you feel like you are literally eating if five-star dinner in the Louisiana bayou. Make your reservation tonight!
All food and service wonderful!
And what a great setting to eat in!
A little pricey but awesome. Entree should come with at least on side
We would have enjoyed ourselves at the bar much better. For the prices it was not worth the time or effort.
Out of 5 dinners ordered, 3 needed to be fixed. Service was mediocre. Bill was over $260 +tip. 3 in our party were children. They sat us over in a corner even with reservations. Not worth the price at all. Very disappointed.
Excellent food and service.
Mediocre at best. The service was top notch as a nice steakhouse would have but the food could be greatly approved upon.
Took my boys for the Christmas experience and some family time. Fantastic food and the atmosphere is so cozy and unique!! Loved it.
I took my fiancé to Old hickory for is birthday and it was perfect. The area they sat us was quiet and romantic, the food was excellent, the service was perfection. It’s a must if you are in the area
Staying at the hotel and went down for dinner. You can always count on a good meal at Old Hickory.
Wait staff was extremely slow and looked overwhelmed. Waited over 30 minutes to order a drink after sitting down. Steaks were overcooked and not one attempt to inquire on our satisfaction of the meal.
Great location but poor service and food quality.
Very disappointing overall.
Overly priced for the quality for the food. 32 dollars for a dry piece of chicken with no sides service was slow the bathrooms were gross
Service was slow did not see our waitress much, my steak was burnt on the outside ok on the inside, lamb chops one good, one tough,, filet ok but have had better for less, french fries garlic and tuffel taste like just plan fries very little of the flavor mainly ones on top had flavor. My family and I all agree that there are better steak houses we have been to, even Longhorns.
My wife and I thought we'd have a nice Christmas day dinner at this "steakhouse." After being seated, we placed our order. She ordered a filet mignon medium well, and I ordered a NY strip steak medium. I also ordered the lobster bisque, and we added mashed potatoes to our meal. The lobster bisque was average at best. When our steaks came, my wife's steak was more medium than medium well. My steak was well done, so they said they'd bring a replacement steak. The steak they brought was medium well. It was so tough that I had to "saw" it with the steak knife just to cut into it. It was tasteless, and more like a steak you'd find in a really cheap restaurant that's not a steak house. My wife's steak was also tough and tasteless. We brought this to the attention of our server (who really was doing a good job) and she called the manager to address the issues. The manager apologized and offered to get me something else to eat, to which I declined at that point. She said she'd take the steaks off the bill. She insisted on giving us a dessert, so we ordered cheesecake. My wife only ate a small portion of her "filet". When the bill came, nothing had been taken off for the steaks. I spoke to our server and she said she'd take care of it. So they only took off my steak, but at that point I'd had enough of the "steak house". The server brought us one small piece of cheesecake, which we brought to our room at the hotel. Once there, we each took a bite of it and it was awful. The salted caramel sauce with it tasted horrible. A fitting end to our wasted experience at this restaurant. So we had one drink each, some bread and butter, a cup of soup, and some mashed potatoes, and for that privilege we paid $150, including a full tip for the server, as she did the best she could under the circumstances. This restaurant should never be mistaken for a steak house. Just a place that overcharges for less than average food.
Charming restaurant in the middle of Gaylord Palms. When seated inside the restaurant you can't really tell that you are in the center of the hotel. The food was delicious and plentiful! Party of four ordered two filets, the fish special and a seasonal special and each was prepared to our request. Pricing is comparable to other 'fine' steakhouses in the area. We ordered four 'shareable' sides and in hindsight should have ordered just two to save more room for dessert! Great wine list and attentive staff. We were there on Christmas Day and could lightly hear the Holiday entertainment on the other side of the hotel but it was not enough to distract from the interior and our meal. We will be back.
This place is not inexpensive but the food is good. Steaks came out to the proper temperature and sides were big enough for 1 1/2 portions were tasty. The banana creme brullee was enough for two.
AJ was an excellent waiter. The service was outstanding and the food was great as usual.
I was really looking forward to the bone-in rib eye but wasn't satisfied with it. The temperature was perfect but there was no marbling in the steak. It was more like a strip steak than a rib eye. No fat and little flavor to the steak. The ones I cook at home are 10 times better than the one I had at Old Hickory. A $60 dollar steak should be an amazing experience. My wife's dinner was perfect and she was very happy with her filet. The side dishes and salads were very good and wouldn't change a thing. We were also disappointed with the bread. It was served room temperature and in a box with paper that stuck to the bread. I think you would do better for your customers to serve hot bread out of the oven. We loved the atmosphere and the waiter was awesome! Please just serve a well-marbled rib eye with some fat on the steak, and hot bread from the oven and it would have been a perfect review.
For a very expensive dinning experience I think it was only fair. I personally can not recommend.
