Amazing food and service. Thanks again. Alex Blasscyk
The service was wonderful, waiter was very attentive and polite. We were very disappointed with the food, especially with having to pay over $200 for our meals. We most likely wouldn’t return here.
Excellent as always
It was a great experience and they were so personable there. We are going back every year for our anniversary from here on.
Nice quiet place for an intimate dinner service was excellent food very good pricey but worth it
Okay this place is incredible. My wife and I go here as much as we can & it's a quiet place set an incredible hotel at the Gaylord Palm. The ambiance is second to none It makes you feel like you are literally eating if five-star dinner in the Louisiana bayou. Make your reservation tonight!
All food and service wonderful!
And what a great setting to eat in!
A little pricey but awesome. Entree should come with at least on side
We would have enjoyed ourselves at the bar much better. For the prices it was not worth the time or effort.
Out of 5 dinners ordered, 3 needed to be fixed. Service was mediocre. Bill was over $260 +tip. 3 in our party were children. They sat us over in a corner even with reservations. Not worth the price at all. Very disappointed.
Excellent food and service.
Mediocre at best. The service was top notch as a nice steakhouse would have but the food could be greatly approved upon.
I took my fiancé to Old hickory for is birthday and it was perfect. The area they sat us was quiet and romantic, the food was excellent, the service was perfection. It’s a must if you are in the area
Staying at the hotel and went down for dinner. You can always count on a good meal at Old Hickory.
Wait staff was extremely slow and looked overwhelmed. Waited over 30 minutes to order a drink after sitting down. Steaks were overcooked and not one attempt to inquire on our satisfaction of the meal.
Great location but poor service and food quality.
Very disappointing overall.
Overly priced for the quality for the food. 32 dollars for a dry piece of chicken with no sides service was slow the bathrooms were gross
Service was slow did not see our waitress much, my steak was burnt on the outside ok on the inside, lamb chops one good, one tough,, filet ok but have had better for less, french fries garlic and tuffel taste like just plan fries very little of the flavor mainly ones on top had flavor. My family and I all agree that there are better steak houses we have been to, even Longhorns.
My wife and I thought we'd have a nice Christmas day dinner at this "steakhouse." After being seated, we placed our order. She ordered a filet mignon medium well, and I ordered a NY strip steak medium. I also ordered the lobster bisque, and we added mashed potatoes to our meal. The lobster bisque was average at best. When our steaks came, my wife's steak was more medium than medium well. My steak was well done, so they said they'd bring a replacement steak. The steak they brought was medium well. It was so tough that I had to "saw" it with the steak knife just to cut into it. It was tasteless, and more like a steak you'd find in a really cheap restaurant that's not a steak house. My wife's steak was also tough and tasteless. We brought this to the attention of our server (who really was doing a good job) and she called the manager to address the issues. The manager apologized and offered to get me something else to eat, to which I declined at that point. She said she'd take the steaks off the bill. She insisted on giving us a dessert, so we ordered cheesecake. My wife only ate a small portion of her "filet". When the bill came, nothing had been taken off for the steaks. I spoke to our server and she said she'd take care of it. So they only took off my steak, but at that point I'd had enough of the "steak house". The server brought us one small piece of cheesecake, which we brought to our room at the hotel. Once there, we each took a bite of it and it was awful. The salted caramel sauce with it tasted horrible. A fitting end to our wasted experience at this restaurant. So we had one drink each, some bread and butter, a cup of soup, and some mashed potatoes, and for that privilege we paid $150, including a full tip for the server, as she did the best she could under the circumstances. This restaurant should never be mistaken for a steak house. Just a place that overcharges for less than average food.
Charming restaurant in the middle of Gaylord Palms. When seated inside the restaurant you can't really tell that you are in the center of the hotel. The food was delicious and plentiful! Party of four ordered two filets, the fish special and a seasonal special and each was prepared to our request. Pricing is comparable to other 'fine' steakhouses in the area. We ordered four 'shareable' sides and in hindsight should have ordered just two to save more room for dessert! Great wine list and attentive staff. We were there on Christmas Day and could lightly hear the Holiday entertainment on the other side of the hotel but it was not enough to distract from the interior and our meal. We will be back.
This place is not inexpensive but the food is good. Steaks came out to the proper temperature and sides were big enough for 1 1/2 portions were tasty. The banana creme brullee was enough for two.
AJ was an excellent waiter. The service was outstanding and the food was great as usual.
I was really looking forward to the bone-in rib eye but wasn't satisfied with it. The temperature was perfect but there was no marbling in the steak. It was more like a strip steak than a rib eye. No fat and little flavor to the steak. The ones I cook at home are 10 times better than the one I had at Old Hickory. A $60 dollar steak should be an amazing experience. My wife's dinner was perfect and she was very happy with her filet. The side dishes and salads were very good and wouldn't change a thing. We were also disappointed with the bread. It was served room temperature and in a box with paper that stuck to the bread. I think you would do better for your customers to serve hot bread out of the oven. We loved the atmosphere and the waiter was awesome! Please just serve a well-marbled rib eye with some fat on the steak, and hot bread from the oven and it would have been a perfect review.
For a very expensive dinning experience I think it was only fair. I personally can not recommend.
Ordered 1855 filet and strip, medium temp, $50 & $52 respectively. Sides of brussels sprouts and mushrooms, $11 ea. Meats were dry, tough and lacked flavor. Brought us another filet, not much better. Mushrooms were tasteless. Brussels were delicious. Would not recommend, overrated and overpriced.
Food was excellent, however a little pricey, I would recommend for a special occasion
My companion and I both had the Center Cut Filet cooked medium and split an order of Buttery Mashed Potatoes and an order of Brussels Sprouts and Bacon. We both agreed that it was one of the most tender steaks we have ever had. Our waiter Brian was outstanding also. He explained the menu and provided the attention required to make our meal one to remember. Our experience at the O;d Hickory Steakhouse can be classified as " You get what you pay for".
Eat there every Christmas - they changed the bread and Caesar salad since last year for the better. The salad was awesome. Also, steaks were hit or miss in previous years - they year our filets were perfect! Crab cakes, Mac & cheese and cream corn were all excellent. Very happy!
This is my idea of a fine steak house. Very good filet.
Arrived 10 minutes early but could not be seated because they have a policy of not seating people before there reservation time. We were seated 5 minutes after reservation time in a dining room that was 3/4 empty!
Our waiter was great!
One of the steaks arrived medium instead of medium rare. After a not so pleasant discussion with a manager, a new steak was presented, rare. After that was
The steaks were cooked to perfection - flavor and temperature. The heirloom tomatoes were ripe and expertly flavored with basil and olive oil. The mushrooms were flavorful and cooked correctly. The souffle was very tasty and fluffy.
The experience was disappointing. No cheese cart. No olive bread. Uncomfortable chairs. Issue with using gift cards.
This is our favorite Anniversary dinner spot, but missed the last two years. In the interim, they have replaced the cheese cart and expert with a 6 cheese platter where your choice is three slices or six as quickly explained by the waiter (who was professional, but not even close to the traditional experience). The delicious olive bread has been replaced by "milk" bread that is a mini-loaf that depends on the butter for any flavor. My wife stayed in her wheelchair, bit I tried all three remaining chairs and all were worn out and uncomfortable. The waiter did find another style and reluctantly asked a quest at another table to move so he could get the chair in my preferred spot. The hostess acknowledged that the table was too high for a wheelchair, but explained that there were no alternatives. The "butter" mashed potatoes lacked butter and flavor. The Oscar style topping traded out Hollandaise sauce for sour cream. Then, we used gift cards given to us by our family. Although the server and manager agreed that we had a balance, their equipment would not allow us to use the cards. The manager promised an email that night to correct the billing. It has been two days and nothing yet.
The server and assistant were professional and competent. Our previous experience included an exceptional server that noticed my wife's disabilities and did NOT give her directions on two handed coffee pouring when she has use of only one hand.
If you don't know how good this restaurant was in the past and have no special needs, Come-on-Down. We have fond memories of this restaurant, but were disappointed this year and will not be back.
The food was great, service was amazing, Gabe was great! Only issue we had was a slightly wobbly table, which we told the manger when she stopped by to ask how everything was and we couldn’t valet so parking was rough due to ICE being there. We’ll be back!
Abdel is amazing! Great dinner!
Steak was bland and well below worth the price. Ruth’s Chris and other high end steak house blow it away.
First time dining at Old Hickory and we were not disappointed.
All our dishes were amazing. Steaks melted in your mouths and loved the variety of starters and side dishes.
Our server, Ron, was excellent. He informed us on the variety of selections, made sure we were taken care of in all phases of our meal, made great suggestions, and was very friendly and engaging. I'd have him every time we went there if possible. Just terrific!
Food was not worth the price we paid. We knew it would be expensive but hoped it would be worth the cost. 60.00 for a rib eye is outrageous for the quality we got.
Great food, great service
We have eaten there before and it was a great experience. I will still eat there again, this time it was a little off.
As always the food, service and atmosphere were great! I’ve been there many times and have yet to have a less than great experience.
