Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Gaylord Texan
Excellent experience! Great food and the service was first class!
Wait staff did a great job with our special request. Greeting team was amazing. Food was very ordinary and we had to send steaks back because they were not prepared as requested.
Tasty food and excellent service, though predictably overpriced (it IS in a resort). Had a tasty steak that was good but as others mentioned, zero accompanying food other than two spicy peppers on the side. Enjoyed the experience and the waiter was attentive, helpful, and charming. Spanish cellar feel and good for a date (though I was solo).
The food was amazing, my ribeye was perfectly cooked and an excellent cut. All of the sides were just as good, and the Lobster Bisque was delicious! Very nice atmosphere and outstanding service! It was everything we were expecting and did not disappoint!
Service was excellent. It was a special evening and so I wanted my parents to have a memorable night. Bought the 45-day-aged 65oz tomahawk steak. Looked and smelled amazing, but that’s where the pleasantries ended. The steak, made up mostly of ribeye meat, was tough to cut through and even harder to chew. For a $280 steak, I expected a lot more. I would be hard pressed to take any further business there.
Matthew was our waiter. He was very professional yet personable. Very knowledgeable about the menu and understanding with handling our questions. In recommending the location I would include recommending the waiter as well.
Everything from our service to the food was fantastic! The special truffle macaroni and cheese was life changing.
The best steakhouse in Grapevine. Binh is an excellent server and always attentive. The lobster bisque is a MUST! Everything from the service to the cocktails to dessert was amazing as always.
Great food and experience. Worthy of taking clients too
We went to Old Hickory as part of our anniversary celebration. We love Old Hickory and is one of our “special occasion” places. Barbara was our server and she was awesome...very personable and great service. Our dinner was amazing and it was topped off by a very beautiful and delicious dessert.
The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary diner special. The only downside was an extremely obnoxious group of older men who were so loud we could not have a conversation. Other than that, the food and service was exceptional!
Food was ok but not superb. Service felt rushed. I have eaten there previously and it was better
Hands down, best food I've ever had. Our server, Daniel, was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. They offer a large amount of food out of my price range, but even the basic menu items we got were the best of their categories. Just a phenomenal experience.
Nice setting for business gatherings, sales dinners, etc.
I would definitely recommend Old Hickory Steakhouse. My colleagues and I were attending a conference at the Gaylord and had dinner here one night. Barbara our waitress was fantastic! We had a delicious meal, wonderful service, and good location. My one piece of feedback is that the hostess' seemed a little disorganized which may be understandable if it was really busy but half the tables were empty. Otherwise, great place!
Ambiance of restaurant, food flavor/presentation was lovely and service by Michael was great. From hostess to departing conversation with manager everyone very graciously wished us Happy Anniversary. They even brought us a special, scrumptious desert to cap off our evening.
The food is great and the service wonderful. The wine list specifically the Cabernets are widely over priced. But the rest is fine. I’ll definitely be back.
Great food service and wine!
The server Barbara was amazing. She did not steer us wrong with everything she recommended.
Great as always.
Steaks were excellent. The Spanish style octopus was awesome. As for sides, the mashed potatoes were average but the asparagus was awful, no flavor and white asparagus and fiddle head fern was not good. The sommelier was nice but not charismatic or overly personable. Our waiter, Mary, was awesome - very service oriented, friendly and engaging. The decor and ambience were very nice, felt like we were in the middle of a gothic wine cellar. Overall a nice, memorable dining experience.
Me, my wife, and a couple friend of ours went out to celebrate our pregnancy. We have been trying for 3 years to get pregnant, and we finally did it! It was time to celebrate, and this is my wife’s favorite place in Texas. This was by far the best restaurant experience I have ever had. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and took excellent care of us. They had beautiful flowers on the table for my wife. The waiter, Daniel, was top notch, and he did not miss a beat. Very attentive and professional. Brian, who helped the waiter, was wonderful as well. He never let our table get cluttered or messy, and we always had what we needed. The executive chef, Chris, was absolutely incredible and very professional. The care he puts into his job and the restaurant is AAA+++, and I have yet to meet a head chef that is as kind and sociable as he. Best experience ever!
We were pleasantly surprised again by their ability to serve such diverse and excellent food. The atmosphere itself is reminiscent of old NY steakhouses...enter down the stairs, greeting by well kept staff, lots of dark leather and wood.
We started with the grilled Spanish octopus and the burrata. Both very excellent. We all ordered different cocktails and debated on whose was best.
We did not partake in the evening specials but ordered various items from scallops to the tomahawk ribeye. They were offering winter truffles on many dishes to which we happily added. No complaints on any entrees or side dishes...I would recommend them all.
The wine list is extensive with many popular bottles as well as new ones we were not familiar with. We weren’t offered now asked about decanting the red wines so that may be my only recommendation...ask for a decanter if you prefer it that way.
We will continue to dine here every time we are in town.
We were fulfilling an item on my living list to stay at the Gaylord. The steakhouses enhanced that experience.
The oysters were prepared with cracker crust that was not good and you could not taste the oysters fish was not that good and need to offer a smaller portion of meat say 6oz
Wait staff was amazing! Very friendly and helpful with suggestions
First there was confusion as to who would wait on us. Finally a server approach us and said she would take our drink order and that someone else would be our server. (She ultimately became our server and did a good job).
The Lobster bisque was really good! Could have just had that and been fine. I ordered the cowboy ribeye, I don’t know who cooked my steak but they should be relieved of their duty immediately. This was probably the worst steak I have ever eaten. I ordered med-well it came to the table very unevenly cooked, part of the steak was very well done and some parts were med-well. It was Heavily charred (burnt flavor) i had to scrape it off. That was the only flavor i got from the steak. Very disappointed in what I thought would be a good steakhouse.
Watered down lobster bisque, filet was choice, not prime!! It should be prime for the high price that is charged for it, just seems bit as good as it used to be in the past
Just did not like not being told that gratuity was included before I paid.
After I have a nice tip and the check was done I was told about the gratuity
Yes it was printed out but I did not want to interrupt our evening but fixing so I paid.
I’ve been there many times. Always get filet and asparagus with Lobster Bisque. I’ve referred others and even had office parties there. The filet was burned/charred flavored. I ordered medium rare. It was definitely medium rare, just had a burned outside, flavor was not good. The asparagus was chopped into a strange platter unlike I’ve even seen, it was not good. The lobster bisque was just as good as ever. Service is second to none.
Loved the wine list. Perfectly cooked steaks and a delicious dining experience.
Food has become terrible. Second time in 3 months that the food has been WAY below expectations. Terrible. Never going back1
This restaurant was excellent in every way...the service was outstanding and we felt very welcome and taken care of with professionalism and efficiency. We will definitely keep this place in mind for special occasions.
Great steak. Pricey for sure:
Michael, our waiter was outstanding. Very friendly and personable. Service and food excellent. Made our trip to Texas that more memorable.
While the overall experience was excellent and the front staff was completely attentive to us we did have to send back our salmon dish 3 times. After the 3rd time it was too late in the dinner to continue. We have enjoyed this restaurant several times and never had an issue however this time did. The steak and sides were absolutely amazing and the dessert was overwhelmingly decadent and rich. I wish for the occasion we were there to celebrate would have come off a lot better. Maybe next time.
It was a good initial experience but I was dissatisfied with our seating. I made reservations days before and we were given a tiny table by a door and then we were told only alternative was the first booth behind host station
Was this because we weren’t staying at hotel? . As I said, very disappointed since this was a special occasion
Great service, beautiful atmosphere and delicious menu. 5 star!
Old Hickory just became my favorite restaurant! The ambiance is perfect for a classy, fine dining experience. We arrived slightly late for our reservation but the hostesses were more than accommodating to seat us right away. Our waitress was great and the restaurant manager Alyx was outstanding in making sure we had a great experience. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the 3 sides we tried were excellent. Our meal was expensive but worth every penny. We will definitely be back!
