Was disappointed with this years Turkey dinner compare to last year. I did not like the idea I had to have dark meat and white and there sure was not enough of white on my plate (which is the only one I eat) potatoes and green beans, rolls were very good; skimpy with the cranberry sauce. Service wad good, even though I felt a little rushed.
Returning for Thanksgiving dinner. It is so worth the hour long drive for us. We repeated our last years plans as it was so good. Once again NO disappointment. Food is delightful. They have a lovely and fun staff. Outrageously easy to highly recommend.
food was very good, but not "wow". decor was Decor was tired, with indirect lighting of several different colors (blue-ish LED in some places and warm light in others).
Our family gathered at Hilton Head this year for Thanksgiving week, and we chose Old Fort Pub as our dine out special night. But for the splendid pecan pie desert, the meal was surprisingly disappointing to just about all of us. Being a duck
aficionado, I was most disappointed. It was cold and mediocre, the only saving grace being a nice strong and deep sauce. My sister's salmon was cold and dry. The consensus at the table was that the food was at best adequate. None of us recoil at high menu prices such as at Old Fort Pub, but at such prices one expects far better than adequate food. To be fair, the service was excellent and we rewarded that generously. Maybe it was just a bad night in the kitchen, but I can only judge by what we received, and based on this experience I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Small quiet traditional dining room. Great ambiance for intimate dining.
Cozy friendly bar; well made traditional cocktails.
Server timed the courses just right. Attentive but not intrusive.
Food was excellent. We had the smoked salmon appetizer, bouillabaisse, and pork loin, and a raspberry dessert. All great.
Can't recommend this place highly enough. A little expensive but worth it. If you visit Hilton Head, don't miss it.
Birthday dinner. Brought a special dessert to celebrate. Very nice evening
One of our favorite eateries on the island. We enjoy coming back every year that we visit the Lowcountry. We greatly appreciated the superb service for our anniversary. We'll be back next year!
Ate there this week. PERFECT place! Beautiful location for sunset. Food was delicious. Our waitress, Claudia was wonderful. Was a perfect night. Highly recommend!!
We were there for Veterans Day with friends. Food was over the top, grouper, salmon and shrimp dishes were all fabulous! Jennifer was on top with service. We always dine here when we visit the Island. Best food ever. Beautiful sunsets top off the evenings.
Wow! Fantastic sunset view, great food and terrific service. Just as lovely inside as out. The she crab soup and scallop appetizer was amazing. The fish special was a cobia which was done to perfection and the pecan pie was heavenly! We will definitely return!
Always a five star experience, The Old Fort is on our short list of HHI favorites. Great food, water view and beautiful sunsets. Can't beat it.
Great food, elegant presentation, secluded- a wonderful treat for brunch! The service was friendly and discreet. The view over the bay is stunning - when we were there the wind was aggressive and the temperature quite cool. We were happy to be inside; on a different day the outdoor dining area would be delightful. Our stop for brunch on Sunday afternoon was a high point on our Gulf/Atlantic Coast ramble - we’d surely return.
Old Fort Pub is one of our favorite restaurants! The atmosphere with the incredible sunset views are truly the best!! Jennifer, who was our server, was awesome!! We highly recommend Jennifer and Old Fort Pub!!
We visit Old Fort every time we vacation at Hilton Head. The view on the intercostal is beautiful especially at sunset! The best place to see the sunset! We were a little disappointed in the food this time....not up to par as our other visits!
Never disappoints. Food and service on a five star level. I can’t come to ahilton Head without visiting.
Delightful evening with friends. Perfect sunset. A little noisy for conversations.
We always add a visit to The Old Fort Pub when we are on HHI. The views of the water are wonderful. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. The service is always spectacular.
Old Fort Pub is such a wonderful place to have dinner or brunch. The views are spectacular and the ambiance is great. Service has always been exceptional and the waiters and waitresses are extremely knowledgeable in discussing the menu. The restaurant is not all that big, but that certainly added to the charm and made you feel at home. The history of the location also added an extra touch.
food and service were superb! Michelle our server was attentive and informative...
Service was slow and food mediocre.
Not sure how our server is employed there. Appetizers were served prior to getting our drinks. Key lime Martini was served overflowing the glass, running down the stem with an extra napkin to wipe up the spillage. Coffee served slopping out of the cups, leaving a puddle in the saucer. Asked a question about one of the dishes and the response was "I don't know". Never sought out an answer for us. I don't need to continue, I am sure one would get the gist of our experience.
We visit this restaurant every time we are in Hilton Head (& that’s about once a year). It’s our favorite place and the food has always been consistently delicious. Lovely at sunset.
Enjoyed our dining experience. Have eaten at this restaurant a number of times. Food excellent but noise level was quite high this particular evening.
Wonderful food and service! Highly recommend! Ambiance and sunset was spectacular!
Very good food - a bit pricey but great for a nice dinner out. Great service and a beautiful view.
First class food, wine, service, clientele and environment. Sunday brunch is our favorite.
Lovely setting. Nice-sized portions. Nicely presented on the plates. Everything was delicious!
It is tough to beat the views of Old Fort Pub. The sunset is amazing! Everything was great until we started ordering the food. Delay, delay, delay. For the pricing of food. $3-$34 for entries you would think someone would come to our table and say they were sorry. We kept asking where our food was and never got an answer.
I also don't think it's right to charge premium prices in a nice restaurant and look over to see people sitting there in shorts. I know it's touristy but come on. Our bill for everything was $175. Just for two of us. We sat next to people with shorts on and docksider's with no socks. Really?
The Old Fort Pub started in 1973. Great spot. They should invest in upgrades to make it competitive with other top-level places. The chairs were very uncomfortable, and so on. Put money back in the business.
I will only go back and have a drink and enjoy the view. Not for dinner.
Never disappointed with the amazing experience. Worth every penny.
We had a wonderful experience as usual! The crab stuffed flounder was wonderful, the service and wine recommendations were spot on, but the scallop appetizer special was very salty even for my husband who loves salt. The balsamic reduction cut it enough to not send it back. All in all a wonderful birthday celebration with friends with a view of the low country that can't be beat!
Over the top wonderful!
Great place to have dinner and watch the sunset. Trout special was cooked perfectly and the signature pecan pie was delicious.
We rate this the best dining experience on Hilton Head!
Our problem was that we merely wanted to partake of the Happy Hour food menu.Once arrived at 5.45,we were informed a) there was no HH menu or b)serving had finished. So instead of an economical snack we had the rather expensive bar menu.Complaining about this the next day,it was quite clear that the Old Fort website was then disingenous/outdated to say the least.
But great location/great ambience/great service - spoiled only by misrepresentation. I notice today that the website menus have been corrected !
My favorite restaurant on Hilton Head. Great food. Unbeatable view and ambience. Have been there multiple times and have never had a bad meal. Excellent special occasion venue.
I've dined here several times and have not been disappointed. This time we had brunch. We chose the all inclusive brunch with appetizer, entree and drink. If you choose that option you should be very hungry, expect to take some home or not feel guilty if you can't finish everything!
Food and service was excellent as always!
Great place for sunset pictures!
Excellent food and service. Always a pleasure to eat here.
Ordered grouper because duck eas not on the menu which is what I always order. Had to go with grouper which was over cooked. Tasted like dried swordfish. Maybe it was. Didn’t complain because we were with others.
Service was very good. Food good. Ok value for the money. Great views of the waterfront.
