So named for the adjacent Civil War shore battery, Fort Mitchel, the restaurant’s foyer is decorated with historic photos depicting the “War of Northern Aggression".

Previously featured on The Food Network and in other notable publications, the Old Fort Pub has become a tradition for over 35 years. Guests enjoy “New Southern” favorites inspired with influences from around the globe. An excellent choice for a celebrating a birthday, holiday or a romantic evening.

Celebrating my birthday. We live locally, but haven't visited restaurant since 2010. Early dining reservation so only a few tables occupied. Table overlooking water. Joey was server. He was excellent. Food timed perfect. Mother and I had salmon, hubby the ribeye. Food delicious. If restaurant full, service will likely be slower and less attentive. For tourists.....HH has major staffing shortages. Restaurants managers are doing best they can, so please take that into consideration. Relax and enjoy the view.

This is a $$$ restaurant and not a $$ as indicated on open table. The entrees all started at $30
It was not a problem but we were not expecting that when we made reservations.
The food, ambiance and service were incredible

Located behind a gated community, the Old Fort Pub is a fine dining experience on Skull Creek. The main dining room is lovely with large windows overlooking the water. The service is friendly and very professional. The food quality is very high, with a number of special offerings each night. Our party of three was “celebrating” our last day of vacation on Hilton Head Island. The she crab soup was delicious, the soup special was also delicious and the lamp lollipop appetizer was heavenly. For the main courses, two of us had the shellfish crab cakes which are “meaty” with a little kick of hot and sides of potatoes and veggies included; also had the filet mignon which was extraordinary- thick, perfectly cooked but will put a large dent in your wallet. Gelato dessert to top off the evening. Due to a heavy storm we missed the opportunity to walk about the property.

The two couples dining were celebrating anniversaries - we mentioned that in the reservation. Nothing was ever mentioned or no one asked if we were celebrating anything. Even after we asked for our picture to be taken. Unfriendly waiter! One couple was vegetarian and asked if several of the delicious veggies on the menu could be combined for their dinner plate. " there was ONE vegetarian entree offered and no other options." Our dinner choices were good and the food received was delicious. The service was ok but not great. Waiter appeared very busy and maybe they were understaffed that evening. We were staying at Marriott and had the 10% discount coupon with us - they only wanted to honor one of the coupons but we had asked for separate checks. they agreed to separate checks and 10% off of each. I believe he was glad we were leaving. Too bad we left with a bitter taste because of the waiter because the food was wonderful, reasonably priced and so was the wine. Lovely old house.

Food was delicious as always, but a little thin on the quantity. Service was excellent, but disappointed that black napkins were not offered to those dressed in black. Also, was surprised that the table cloth had a noticeable dark stain. Seems that the standards of days past have started to slip away. Still an island favorite and will return in the future.

This place is about as close to perfect as a restaurant can get! The restaurant facility and grounds are gorgeous, the history fascinating, the cocktails delicious and the food top notch!! My husband and I had the good fortune to choose Old Fort Pub for our 35th anniversary celebration. My husband has a disability and the whole staff could not have been more sensitive or accommodating. Our server, Jennifer, was fabulous and saw to our every need. This place will be at the top of our list on our next trip to Hilton Head!

The Old Fort Pub probably has the most beautiful setting in Hilton Head. However, I’ve never had such an inattentive rude server as we experienced with Atif on a special occasion dinner with guests visiting from abroad. If you’d like to have a great experience I’d suggest avoiding this server at all costs. They also added a 20% service charge due to us being a party of 6. However, what is the procedure if you think the service was poor with a few lame attempts to improve? I had to get up to get my own sparkling water from the bucket, request the stack of menus to be removed from the table after ordering among other mishaps. The dishes were nevertheless delicious. Even though I did speak twice to the manager, he never offered any form of compensation besides an apology. Very disappointing experience.

Probably our favorite restaurant of all time. We come here every time we visit Hilton Head. The food is always delicious and perfectly cooked. We had the smoked salmon appetizer - incredible! I had scallops and a Cesar salad. My husband had the halibut with asparagus and potatoes. He commented on how good the sauce was - which I chuckled at because it was a pea sauce and he hates peas! So you know it must have been amazing. Now - a comment not directed at the restaurant.....if you are parents or grandparents with children under the age of 12 and you have no concern for and do not plan to prevent your children from talking loudly, playing on the ground with their toys, walking up and down the isles, throwing things on the floor or interrupting a people trying to enjoy their dinner - please choose a more suitable restaurant that does not have an entree menu ranging up to $65. Or learn parenting skills and teach you children how to behave at elegant 4-5 star restaurants. Back to Old Fort Pub - Thank you for an otherwise lovely evening!

We have been coming to HHI for most of my life and I have never tried Old Fort Pub before. It is my new favorite restaurant on HHI. The Food quality is excellent and the service is also spectacular. I know when you come on vacation sea food is the primary food of the day but the Pork Chop at Old Fort Pub was amazing. After a great meal we also opted for the Pecan Pie. it is completely different from any pecan pie I have ever had and also the best. Might have to swing by again during this stay to get another pork chop and piece of pie. Top Notch...

We've lived near The Old Fort Pub for years, but don't think of going there. We decided to try it (again) for a birthday celebratory dinner It has a more formal, traditional kind of menu and atmosphere, so you need to be in the mood. Not a tapas kind of place! The food was absolutely wonderful. We shared the roasted calamari appetizer and each had the sea bass entree. The calamari was cooked properly - no rubber band texture here! - and served in a bowl with a generous amount of delicious broth. My husband loved dipping his bread into the broth. The sea bass was perfectly cooked - seared and brown on the outside but not overcooked or mushy, and was served with a delicious sauce. The serving sizes of both appetizer and entrees were very large. In fact I took half of my sea bass home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day. We brought our own celebratory bottle of wine (a $20 corkage fee was ok with us). I did I look at the wine list and it was thoughtful and a nice range of prices and choices . The service was exactly as we like it - there when we wanted it and invisible otherwise. And, of course, the view is just lovely. When you're looking for this kind of restaurant, we would highly recommend it. We'll probably not wait 10 years again, and might even return this summer!

We have eaten here many times during our trips to HHI. This time we found our experience mediocre. The main dishes were overly complex, hard to savor the flavors. Disappointed with our dining experience this time. The place needs a bit of a facelift.

Everything was wonderful from the moment we arrived. We did the brunch specials...the cold cucumber and asparagus soup and the chef's omelet. Today's was smoked salmon, onions and topped with asparagus. So delicious. Hubs had the shrimp creole and grits that were amazing. Definitely going back.
