Very very sad that the restaurant is closing
We live on Hilton Head Plantation and have taken visitors there many times in the last 20 years. Twenty years ago, The Old Fort Pub was a spectacular place with fantastic food and an exemplary view with impeccable service.
During our time on Sunday night, with dear friends, we were not greeted with the customary chef's sundried tomato treat to whet our appetites. Our drinks were served to the men first, one person had to ask for a glass for his beer, our meals were VERY mediocre, our server did not check on us during the meal, when he cleaned off the table after dinner, he only cleaned half of it and when dessert was served, it was plopped down (again serving the men first) without being put directly in front of the customer. What a shame that this restaurant is closing with these memories rather than the fantastic service that it provided for many years.
I know they are closing soon, but we will not be going there again.
Always a wonderful experience
The view looking out upon Skull Creek amidst the oaks draped with Spanish moss was delightful. So was the food once it arrived, which was outstanding. Our only qualm was the 40 minutes waiting for our delicious Mediterranean Omelets. Old Fort Pub is a real gem for Brunch, as well as an institution for dinner.
Great food and ambience. Definitely has one of the best views on the island. Will be sad to see it go.
Had brunch here. It was excellent. Beautiful scenery. Excellent and professional service. Wonderful She Crab soup.
We sat outside this time and, though a little windy, it was glorious. Brunch was fantastic. The service by John is always impeccable. We truly wish Old Fort Pub would not be vanishing. It is one of our favorite places!
Superb service and attention to detail. Really a shame that rumor is this will be closed to build apartments.
There are a lot of very good restaurants on the Island but Old Fort Pub is always my favorite.
Amazing environment and setting. Would highly recommend!
Best meal we had during our Hilton head vacation. The restaurant was very busy and we were seated in the “overflow” section on the second floor which turned out to be awesome. Not only did we have the whole room to ourselves, but we had easy access to the spiral staircase leading to the rooftop observation deck, from which we watched an amazing sunset. In spite of being apart from the other diners we still had amazing service. The server and runners had to come a flight of narrow stairs every time they came to our table but we were never without water etc and never felt forgotten. Great dining experience- Well done!
Great service; wonderful ambiance, good food. Quiet with incredible view. Refined dining in a casual setting. Very special evening
Easter dinner with friends . We were disappointed that the menu excluded any lamb entries. As the normal menu includes lamb we figured for sure the Easter menu would have at least one good choice. It didn’t. There aren’t many restaurants that have lamb as a menu choice and I would have suspected many of the patrons that day were looking for it. The ambiance at Old Fort Pub is wonderful and we love the location for that attribute. Food and service are very good.
Very disappointing... almost like they are ready to close! ☹️
One of the best restaurant on Hilton Head Island. Servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Food is excellent. Great location for watching the sunset. Nice outdoor seating and nice place to stop in for a drink.
The Old Fort Pub is always a treat. My friend was introduced to it for the first time on Friday. She's a real foodie and was duly impressed. We are members of La Chaine de Les Rotisseurs. Hope to see you next time!
We picked a cool night. Heaters would have been nice, but view was fabulous.
Old Fort Pub has been our family’s favorite HHI restaurant for decades. And once again, it didn’t disappoint. The setting, ambiance and food are just perfect for a special evening out. We chose to eat outside due to covid, and the sunset off the porch was stunning. We were surprised they did not have space heaters though, which would have been a welcome addition.
Old Fort Pub is an upscale eatery set in a beautiful location. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. When in Hilton Head don't miss this gem.
phenomenal She-Crab Soup
beautiful location, try to go at sunset
attentive, experienced waiter
would go again
food was beautiful but a bit under seasoned
Our server, Shane, was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Food and drinks were served very promptly. The soups were terrific and our entrees were delicious. We had the flounder and the chipotle shrimp. Both delicious. Lovely view of the water from inside on a stormy evening. Loved the little touches like the truffles after dinner compliments of the chef!
Great food, great atmosphere. It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Hilton Head.
Superb restaurant. Fantastic service. View amazing
Our absolute favorite restaurant on HHI. So sad they are going to demolish this gem. What a shame;(
Great place. Wish they weren’t closing. The she crab soup was outstanding
We had a lovely dinner for 5 women sitting outside near the fountain. Beautiful view and delicious food. Excellent attentive service.
Old Fort Pub has always been a favorite place to wind up at around sunset in HHI.
The drinks are great and the view is one of the best views of the marshes. Is is nice and quiet and the food is a good value. On this particular visit I had invited 3 girlfriends down for a few days and definitely wanted them to experience OFP. The only disappointment was I was not very hungry and I ordered a Pub Salad for $10 and asked they as a chicken breast. My bill for the salad quickly grew to $29 not including my wonderful lemon basil martini. I questioned the waitress and was told they charge for the chicken entree and substitute the salad for the sides that normally come with it. The chicken breast was was excellent and a great compliment to the Pub Salad but it was not a $19 value. Otherwise, all good as usual. I will go more hungry next time or not at all.
The view, food and service was excellent.
At the recommendation of a friend, we went to brunch at the Old Fort Pub. It’s a charming dining room with a beautiful view of the waterfront. It was a rainy afternoon but it made the experience even better being inside. The sea island breakfast was wonderful according to my husband. My eggs Benedict were delicious. Big portions, too. Later I read that the restaurant is being demolished to make way for a luxury apartment complex. This is sad news.
It was awesome.Third time this year and thoroughly enjoyed it again. Sad to hear they are planning to close and build condos.
Senior wait staff were awesome but the hostesses constantly touched their faces and masks and one bus girl/server continuously took off her mask and was rude when asked to put it on. Don’t come here. Too risky in a pandemic.
Seems like the place we love is slipping a bit.
Drinks excellent She crab soup great as usual. Pear salad excellent Mahi Mahi grilled to perfection though only 4oz
Polenta served cold
Service was just average felt rushed at 7:00 reservation time
There’s really so many great places to eat on the island and Bluffton that the setting alone may not save the day for the Old Fort
Freezing outside. Should have heaters. Beautiful setting, loved it. Appreciated the treats, cheese appetizer and truffles. She crab soup and Caesar salad were excellent. I didn’t enjoy my seafood cakes , but my companion enjoyed her short ribs. Pricey for the size of portions.
Excellent evening at Old Fort Pub. Will definitely visit them again.
Upscale with great views, good selection of wines, and terrific food. The she crab soup is a must have dish. Be sure to take a minute or two to go up to the roof especially at sunset.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday! We had an amazing time
We have enjoyed Old Fort Pub for special occasions for the last 15 years. Our last visit was my husband's birthday. Very disappointed to know that they'll be closing in a few months. We've never been disappointed.
Daughter’s 12th birthday.
Adult menu was wonderful. Kids menu can use improvement.
Our favorite restaurant on the island.
Consistently great for 20+ years.
