The smaller dining area was a little loud but we could hold a conversation with another couple. The food was moderately pricey but the taste made it worth every penny. Definitely 5 stars. We will return often!
Food is above average , but the drinks are very expensive
Bullit Rye Manhattan on the rocks $15.25 +tax+tip , probably $20.00 +/-
Honestly , I can’t help but feel this restaurant is living on its
I was served a dessert after being told it was gluten free. I have celiac disease and I became very sick. When I called they just said sorry!
The ambience is as good as it has always been......very cozy and inviting. Our service was quite good. BUT the food was below mediocre. Good salads, pork chop below average, sea bass only average, mahi mahi below average. Overall quite disappointing and won’t go back. I’d go to Jane’s, etc. for less atmosphere but top notch fresh and creative food. Sad to see the Old Fort disappoint so much.
We were seated quickly..had a table beat window as requested. Food was very good. Mussels appetizer very tasty! The entree of short ribs was delish and salmon was good. The tables are close and the people next to us were rather loudly talking so it was a little disturbing. The Server and his assistants were very efficient . They graciously offered us anniversary wishes!
Great food a little expensive though
Delicious food and a wonderful server named John
Fantastic dinner, incredible wine choices and the cobia was delectable. John, our server was friendly, attentive and kept us in good spirits throughout the evening.
We had a great time. Food and service were excellent.
It used to be better food. My husbands flounder was fishy tasting and in small pieces instead of a nice fillet.
Best meal on HHI...a must for great food and service for everyone !
This is our go to place for our anniversary every year. This year, however, I was a little disappointed in the menu choices. So, I decided to have a salad and an appetizer. The salad was very good and the appetizer I chose, the seared scallops, were very good. However, I feel that two very small scallops for the appetizer was not a good value for the price. My husband enjoyed his lamb chops and we shared the pecan pie for dessert. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive.
The food was not good. The pork chop and chicken had no spices. Very bland. The crab soup was the only thing that was good.
Great food and service
My wife and I have been going to the Old Fort Pub on our wedding anniversary, Oct 21, for more than 20 years. The past visit has left a very bitter memory. When we arrived early, we stopped at the bar and ordered 2 glasses of house wine (1 Chardonnay and 1 Sauvignon Blanc) and enjoyed them on the porch. When it came time for our reservation, we were politely escorted to our table in the dining room. At that time, my wife ordered a second glass of the same Chardonnay. After a great dinner accompanied by great service, the bill arrived, Upon review, I became angry and shocked. My bill had a charge of $42 for 2 glasses of chardonnay - absolutely outrageous for house wine. I felt like I was totally taken advantage of by the bartender. I should have said something at the moment, but it was our anniversary and I decided not to upset my wife. I will think twice about going back to the Old Fort Pub again after this very unfortunate experience; recommending to others is now questionable as well. I have already told my in-laws who frequent the Old Fort Pub of this incident. Please notify the management of my experience, since actions like this will discourage others who may have the same bad experience.
Fantastic food and what a view! Hoping to return soon.
fantastic venue. full of charm. first time to visit after this place has been recommended to me for years. the server, John, was perfect with this recommendations. we will be back.
As always, an excellent choice, but......seated at our "regular table" immediately after we walked in. ....we are frequent visitors as this little gem is in our neighborhood...This time our waitress was not very attentive. Pretty MIA. Took 15 minutes for our wine. She asked my husband what "size" he wanted; didn't ask me; and brought the smaller pour.....Twenty minutes for her to come back and ask for our order. 15 minutes to get the bill. But the beet salad was on the menu as a special again which is one of my favorites. And the sea bass, although described as "cajun" which almost made me pass, was delightful and not at all spicy. The BIG negative was that, despite the large TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE sign on the hostess podium, the table of four - after a very loud ring - answered their cell phone and then proceeded to facetime with the caller ON SPEAKER and no one from staff came to their table to address the issue...........really put a negative twist to what had been a lovely evening......
We took another couple with us for dinner and everyone was very impressed with the preparation and quality of the meal. Presentation was outstanding.
The service could have been a bit more attentive, not hovering, but stopping by occasionally to see what if anything we needed.
We are 20 year residents of Hilton Head and the OFP remains as one of ur favorites.
Service was excellent and up to expectations for a restaurant of this caliber. Food was very good. Misses were the under cooked grits and slightly over cooked mahimahi.
Everything was fine except the service. It too over 10 minutes for a waiter to come and greet us and take our drink order. Turns out that this was the first night for the waitress and she was pretty green. So what would have been a very enjoyable evening got off to a poor start and dampened the rest of the evening. Don’t let this stop you from dining there. It is otherwise a very excellent restaurant. The luck of the draw went against us.
We had a round table for eight which allowed everyone to participate in the same convesation without shouting. We all greatly enjoyed the food and wines. Our waitress was excellent, and patiently waited for us to finish , as we were the last to leave the restaurant.
Old Fort Pub is one of our favorite restaurants. Our dinner was excellent as usual and the people are great.
Great meal and after dinner stinger at the bar. Had to help the younger bartender with the recipe.
Great food always Dinner or Brunch. Great drinks and desserts to finish off a great time.
Beautiful scenery, impeccable service, great food.
Food was ok...not great, and expensive for what we got. The she crab soup is always superb, however. Service was slow and then when he realized we were getting annoyed, it became obsequious...
Have been to OFP many times and it will be awhile before we ever go back...just not worth the time and money.
Location is great and if you’re a tourist, it can’t be beat. We, however, live right down the road on Skull Creek inside HHP, and can see this same thing from our porch...so view doesn’t make up for the rest of it.
No one was upset, everyone ate their dinner, and loved the wine. But...won’t be back soon.
Very overpriced for what you get. Wine pricing is significantly higher than other restaurants in the area. Many entre food portions were skimpy.
Upscale casual elegant dining. Perfect for our last night in HHI
Highly recommend it
The room is lovely & the view amazing Our waitress was knowledgeable & friendly but I felt she could have been more attentive. Our individual choices were varied so we had the opportunity to taste different items. Could not have been more pleased with the food.
We had an exceptional experience
Outdoor seating at sundown, great food, wine, service, complimentary beginning pastry & dessert chocolate, $20 corkage fee, anniversary decedent finish flair, what's not to like? Well, noseeums, but still adjoining to inside bar made for perfect evening for our out of state guests.
Celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary with dinner at the Old Fort Pub. The food was outstanding as was the service. It was a nice area around the restaurant to visit and see the historic area. We had a great table with beautiful sunset view.
Went here for our 20th anniversary. I chose by reviews as we are out of towners. So glad we went here. The food was delicious but the ambiance and views were by far superior to any place I have been. We sat at the window seat at sunset with views of the setting sun on the Skull Creek. Service was outstanding and they made it a very memorable night for us. Highly recommend and look forward to returning. Worth the money. I do suggest reservations and getting there early if you want those coveted window seats. We arrived 40 minutes early as recommended and were lucky to get the seats we wanted.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset dinner on our 48th anniversary!
Thank you all.
Enjoyable, quiet atmosphere. Amazing sunset. Great menu. Impeccable service ~ one of our favorite dinner venues on HHI!
Incredible meal and very romantic atmosphere. The sunset view from the restaurant is the best.
Beautiful setting on the water in an old building. Perfect for sunset viewing. Excellent food. Ample portions. We all took food home. And save room for the chocolate pecan pie.
I would for drinks but diner I would not. Had a difficult time finding something on the menu that I liked and my husband meat was at best so so. Had much better steak at other restaurants.
We had a fantastic sunset dinner at Old Fort to celebrate my wife's birthday. This is our go to place for special occasions. We will be back.
Our favorite restaurant in Hilton Head! Food fantastic! Sunset view worth a photo!
