Visiting DC always includes a dinner at Old Ebbit Grill. We are never disappointed!

I always end up here. Husband's favorite, not mine. The atmosphere is nice. Food to me is good, not great. Tonight the salad was bitter and the trout done well. Skip the house wine.

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday with friends and family. The food was wonderful and the wait staff was friendly, with just the right amount of attention. We would recommend to anyone.

Had a terrific lunch at Old Ebbitt Grill prior to going to National Theatre. The food was great, and our server, Deborah, was outstanding. It is an easy walk to the theater, and valet parking for $12 for the entire meal and show is a great value.

Arrived at noon for our 12:00 brunch reservation and had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was packed and noisy. Our server was attentive but our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive and was average. The building and dining room are historic and lovely and the art collection is especially fun but the whole experience was not quite the special, DC outing I was hoping it would be.

Relaxing, delicious pre-theater brunch with very nice, professional waiter. Food didn’t come in a hurry but we had plenty of time and was just delightful not to rush or be rushed.

We thought this would be a type of institutional restaurant, one with history and great vibes. But it felt more like a tourist trap.

The service was stellar and our waiter was extremely helpful. The waiter knew everything about the dishes and was able to offer helpful suggestions. We especially liked the seafood options and oyster happy hour. The drink specials were creative and tasty. The only bad part was that the tables were extremely close to one another to were you feel uncomfortable eating and seating yourself next to strangers sitting immediately beside you. Also the noise level of the restaurant is extremely loud which makes conversation with your dinner date almost impossible without yelling.

First time visiting this particular Clyde's. Have been to many other in this restaurant group in the DC area. Greeted warmly and wished a happy birthday which showed attention to detail and caring. Food (all delicious) was served up promptly by a very attentive and knowledgeable waiter. Was pleased to see the birthday wishes extended by being written on the edge of my dessert plate.

Noted: Glassware, plate and flatware water spotted which was a bit disappointing. Maybe the dishwasher needs some Cascade rinse solution?

Overall it was a good first visit. From the crowds constantly streaming in, it's obviously a popular Washington institution.

We felt the quality of the food went down since our last visit 5 months earlier. The meats were fatty in the cubana and Walter. The cubana also had very little meat and what was there was fatty, had to cut it away, yuck. I left a complete half of my Walter
untouched On the plate and did not take it home. Not only was the meat on the Walter fatty, the sandwich bread was soaking wet on the bottom side. Who wants to eat bread soaked in water and have to eat a sandwich with a fork because it falls apart when you pick it up.

The Old Ebbitt Grill is a classic Washington, DC restaurant right around the corner from the White House. I take all of my out of town guests there because the ambience, food and service are excellent.

Service was soooo slow. Server came by and said she would be with us in a moment. It was a good 10 minutes before she returned. She then went through the entire specials of the day, what was no longer available, and the favorites for any type of appetite and/or allergy. We listened patiently, although we already knew what we wanted since we waited so long for her return. We then waited 15 more minutes for our Bloody Mary's. We were seated at 11:50 - drinks came at 12:20... not good.
Old Ebbitt Grill is a great place to go as a tourist attraction - close to White House. Bloody Mary's were very good, food was fair, service was not good - flatware was spotty.

The service was fine and the food was pretty good. It is a bit of a tourist trap and therefore overpriced. There are better more affordable options. One other thing. The restaurant looks tired and doesn’t feel clean. My chair had a fabric cover and was loaded with stains. Also the tablecloth was threadbare . For the prices they charge it should be nicer.

A really wonderful restaurant! Tables for two are very close together so not very intimate when you can clearly hear the people sitting right next to you. Brunch is a popular meal here, usually very packed so definitely make a reservation. Overall, wonderful restaurant and the oldest in DC which makes for a fun and interesting experience.

This is easily the most visited restaurant in DC, which is both good and bad. The atmosphere is lively, the food is very good, and the wine list is adequate (as long as they aren't out of your first two choices). I'm glad I visited, but probably wouldn't be a regular if I lived in DC.

An exceptional evening of food and enjoyment for three of us. The waiter was wonderful in every way. We made some slight changes to our orders with instructions regarding how we liked our fish and he got our orders exactly as we wanted. Could not have been more pleased. The swordfish and trout were cooked to perfection.

Food was sadly not good. Waitress was fabulous. Water and bread guy not friendly or timely. Food runner was friendly and a good sense of humor. We drove 2 hours because we used to go here when we lived closer and hello it's super close to the White House, sad that the food has gone downhill.

We were seated in the atrium which was nice but did not give you the feeling of the old
look of the grill.. It was our first time there.. Services felt rushed & beer was expensive,
but that's expected in DC everywhere...

Very good experience at Old Ebbits Grill. Very high marks to our two servers...Kerry and Patti...each of whom was superb in every way in providing execellent service, one of the reasons we visit this resturant whenever we are in D.C. Food was very good as was the vibrant atmosphere....Kevin Corcoran

I wanted to go to this restaurant every time I was in Washington... so this was it.
it was ok...the place is classic and has its history, but we walked in early for our reservation, they proceeded to sit us in the back by a serving station when there were empty tables elsewhere. Food ok, service was quick and fast and we had a great server...

My partner had the ham/spinach tortilla wrap with sauce and she couldn’t eat it because it had so much salt. She wasted 75 percent. My fish and chips were great. The third person had the fillet and had to remove the top due to so much cracked pepper.
