Had to wait almost 30 minutes after our mid-week 5:30 reservation. Food was fine, but not sure what the big attraction is.
Awesome location with excellent food. It is a must stop place every time you are in DC
Burnt cornbeef hash. Bland, dry food!
Recommended by so many, even my grandma when she used to work in DC! It was great for my Fiance and I! Watermelon Margarita was great!
Wonderful. Right from walking in. Felt welcomed. Did have a reservation. Arrived early. Staff, food, wine list, ambience. All was as perfect as could have wished. Which was surprising for as busy as this place is. Will definitely go again when back in DC.
Great meal! Definetely worth the wait. Make sure to put this on your list!
We enjoyed our dinner. While the food was good, the service was great. We dined on the pork chop, crab cakes, and filet (the waiter and chef did a great job accommodating the food allergy in our party). The service was spectacular. Our waiter was very engaging and attentive. While the restaurant noise was overall loud, the location of our table was more on the quiet side and we didn't have to yell at each other to be heard.
Definitely worth a visit!
Amazingly good food. We dined here on recommendations from multiple sources. We (Me, husband & 12 & 14 yo boys)all loved it so much that we made another reservation for another night that same week while still at the restaurant! Large portions of food.
Our meal and drinks were fantastic! We enjoyed every bite! Best Manhattan I've had out, possibly ever! Kale Caesar salad and crab cake were unbelievable. Would love to go again next time we visit D.C!
Met here for lunch. Recommend making reservations well in advance. Service was top notch, very friendly and professional wait staff. I had the turkey burger, was also top notch. When visiting DC, you should definitely plan a meal at Old Ebbitt Grill
Could not reserve a table for 11:30, so we came earlier. Yet when we left (12:30) dozens of tables and booths were still empty. Why deceive your customers? Give them what they ask for, if possible. Clearly, this was possible
The food was incredible! I took my 3 children, ages 7, 10 and 12. The restaurant is very kid friendly and has a great kids menu. This is still fine dining with a phenomenal adult menu. My only issue was that our food took a very long time to arrive. Two tables seated after us and who ordered after us received their meals before us. When I inquired what the delay was I was told it took longer because I have a shellfish alkergy so they had to clean the pans....seems like pans would be cleaned regardless. So for service I gave it only 3 stars because I expect a fine restaurant to be prepared for diners with food allergies. In compensation for the delay our desserts were comped so I think we were well taken care of!
We had stated our special occasion but the table we were given was in a row along one wall in the middle of which was a position with cutlery etc and water where there were constantly waiters rushing to and from it. Our table was right next to it. The restaurant was very busy so we didn’t ask about moving tables. This spoilt our experience but we have tried to rate the restaurant without taking this into account. They really need to think carefully about whether they should have this station positioned next to any table.
Great place to go as out of town guests visiting DC!
Great food & great service. Worth the wait!
I have always loved this place, having dined when in DC for at least 25 years. This time I can't give it top review numbers for several reasons. This is based on dinner at 5:15 on Sunday evening
Oysters took 45 minutes to arrive. They were, however, excellent.
Noise level was deafening.
Food was very good, but not exceptional. I thought I remembered shrimp and grits from another visit - maybe I am mistaken, but I was sorry not to see it on the menu.
Excellent, as always. Made a reservation for party of 4 at 3pm on a very busy Sunday. Had to reschedule at the last minute and they were able to fit us in at 5pm. Great food, great time! Love Old Ebbitt Grill!
Very crowded but wait staff were friendly and did not rush us. Food was excellent.
A DC classic. This is my favorite brunch spot. I visit DC often and always make a reservation in advance. I especially like to eat in the courtyard by the fountain on a busy Sunday. The food is good and the atmosphere is great.
Made a reservation for brunch. Table was ready timely. After the appetizer we watched all the tables around us that were empty when we sat get severed and our meal came over an hour after we ordered. It was obvious the food sat and was cold. The meal was horrible, the service was horrible. This used to be one of my favorite places to go. The last three times we have not had good service. Either it's hard to get good help or someone isn't doing a good job.
My family came to America to meet me
For them I booked here and it’s perfect choic
Our wait person was absolutely wonderful, assisting me to the ladies room, recommending the Benedict’s on the menu...very good, and bringing me a birthday treat, complete with burning candle. Friendly and attentive but not hovering. We were in the group the night the pipe burst and did not even get seated so we were very happy to be able to return for a Sunday brunch. Enjoying celebrating my 75th birthday in such a nice and historic place.
Excellent service, attentive wait staff, great food.
Great neighborhood gem; historical landmark. Great food, good service...enjoyed it!!
Second time coming. Second time leaving without ordering. Incredibly slow staff and a horrible old seafood smell while waiting to be seated.
Love the place but they need to do something about the musty smell.
This place is elegant and old, so fun in that fashion. But a real tourist trap, with mediocre food. Not to mention an off the charts sound level. I would not go back nor recommend to a friend.
Hat off to the chef. I was in town for weekend getaway with the girls and we all agreed that the food was fenominal. The service was above and beyond.
My family and I go here religiously when they're in town to visit. Best happy hour this side of the Mississippi. Two thumbs up. My only complaint is that they change servers around 3:00, right when happy hour starts.
(-)My starter was served too late.
(+)Like their repitation, food is good. Especially the steak frites was amazing!
Great food, cocktails and service. Corned beef and pastrami were excellent.
Consistently wonderful. We live taking visitors here to eat. They are always impressed by the excellent food and service. I have never had a bad meal here.
This was my second time visiting and just like before, I received great service. Although, I chose a busy weekend to visit, the ambience was still pleasant. My oysters were season perfectly and fried to a nice crisp. Our server (Kathlyn) was great. Keep up the good work 😃
Our waitress was wonderful. Food was fantastic. We were seated with our reservations less than one minute of walking into the place. Menu was easy to read and understand. All food was made and brought out quickly, and it all tasted wonderful. Waitress offered to bring apple sauce for the baby in our party and was very sweet and brought us a folded up table cloth to help hold him up while sitting in the high chair. Overall, just a wonderful experience!
Not bad. Food was great.
Fun and busy atmosphere. The artichoke dip is excellent.
First time to DC. This is a must go restaurant & bar. Great people, good drinks and tasty food. I will visit this place on every trip. If you haven’t gone, you must!
Food was delicious!
One of the few restaurants that lives up to the hype! Made this reservation for my first trip to DC and was not disappointed. Great dinner and experience.
The restaurant has a great "old world" atmosphere and a buzz. The oysters at happy hour are sensational. Dinners are sensational are the crab cakes with sweet potato, swordfish, meatloaf, and the seared salmon. The preparation on these meals is perfection. The service can be uneven, but it is adequate. It can be difficult to have a conversation in some sections of the restaurant due to the many large parties and noise level.
