We enjoyed the crab cakes!
The food and service was phenomenal. I can’t speak enough about how amazing everything was.
Busy, bustling restaurant even for an early lunch (admittedly it's peak tourist time and this was during MLB All Star week). A DC staple. Food was fresh and came out quickly from time of order.
Went for anniversary. Food was amazing as always. Service was a little slow - very out of character though. Atmosphere, food, and drinks made up for it.
Awesome food and service from beginning to end.
Good food! A little noise but expected because of location. Great time overall.
Very good service and food was excellent. Waitress was really good.
The food at Old Ebbitt Grill is only good, it's definitely not outstanding. And the service is slow and spotty. However, the atmosphere and location are outstanding. It's well worth making an advanced reservation and planning to add it into your D.C. trip.
A consistent experience is very important to me and is what happens at Old Ebbitt Grill. My Turkey Burger was excellent. My Sister and Brother and friend from North Carolina enjoyed their meals too. Clearly my favorite downtown eating experience.
We were there in late afternoon and there was a big rush so the food took an hour to get to us but the manager came over to apologize and the comped us a nice chunk of the bill.
Event: Celebrating my Girlfriend's Birthday. She is visiting from out of town and I wanted to treat her to well known DC sites. She loved this restaurant. The last time I was there was 3-5 years ago. I knew the food was good, but it was even better than I remembered.
The server was a bit rushed, but he always was there when we needed to talk to him. My Girlfriend thought he was great, as he was attentive to her questions and made very good recommendations. Likewise, I thought he was a very good waiter. (He joined me in singing Happy Birthday to her.)
I had a dinner Caesar salad that was amazing. She tried it and loved it as much as I did.
I STRONGLY Recommend Old Ebbitt to all.
She and I plan to return prior to the end of her visit--possibly multiple return visits.

Service was good but place was too crowded with a lot of noise and of course, due to the amount of people our food took a lot of time.
We probably planned this brunch wrong since the World Cup Final was on, so the noose level was probably greater than usual. The food was amazing and the service was ok.
Great restaurant for Sunday Brunch or just stopping in. Only regret is that they took the “French Toast Club” off the brunch menu. This is the one thing we came here for regularly on a Sunday.
We've been to OEG quite a few times, so I feel guilty reviewing it again. The multiple times speaks for itself - it's a very nice place for a Sunday brunch. Love the French toast, and the crab cakes are delicious.
We went here three times during our trip to DC! My daughter loved the food (which is rare) and we had great food and service every time!!!
Great selection, food, and service. What a treasure!
Tremendous food and service. We seated in a quieter space outside main restaurant which was great for conversation, but lacked some of the ambience.
Overall very positive
I was please with everything except for my meal. I order the PoBoy. Being from New Orleans, I expected a sandwich on a bagette or French bread. It was just an overfried piece of catfish. It wasn't well seasoned or anything. I would not order again. But I have been her before and enjoyed the food. This is not a deal breaker by any means.
Decor was dated and old-fashioned, first server didn’t explain much nor was she courteous (2nd who took over after the shift change was better), and the dishes were slightly overpriced for what was they offered; had better ambiance and service in many other DC restaurants as a tourist; I understand it was busy and our food was flavorful, but I wouldn’t return.
Excellent selections of oysters. Lots of great choices on the menu for entrees. Bloody Maryland cocktail was simply delicious. Service and ambience were great.
Third time I've eaten here, and delicious just like the last two! Got the Healthy Choice brunch omelet - tasty omelet, sausage, and a nice little fruit bowl. Server was exceptionally pleasant and thorough in her knowledge of the menu.
Perfect place for breakfast! Great service, great food!
Sandwiches were great but the fried chicken (in the chicken and waffles dish) was over cooked & the French toast was lackluster & an ingredient was left off. As a former server, I felt that service was a little awkward. I think my expectations were too high since three people recommended this place.
Fantastic! Great local spot with lots of history. Oysters were amazing and the meatloaf was delicious. Can't wait to visit again.
Our server was excellent, as well, as the food. We have been coming to the OEG before it relocated to its 15th Street location.
Great restaurant, whenever I am in Washington, DC I always have one dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill.
Food was good. Felt that the steaks were a little overpriced.
My family and I had a wonderful dinner. Our waiter’s recommendations were on point. We will definitely dine there in the future again!
A must do if you’re in Washington DC!
Food was good but not outstanding. Was originally seated in the Grill area and had to request being in the main dining room which was a bit annoying as I had indicated it was a special occasion. Service was solid.
We loved the experience of the Old Ebbitt Restaurant.
Food was cold. Sandwich was dry. Service was great.
The Old Ebbitt Grill for dinner was perfect after spending a full day touring Washington DC! Great food and atmosphere!
Awesome, as always
Food took way too long. Otherwise great.
We've gone to Old Ebbit entry time we visit DC, but it's been several years since last here. I'm sad to say it's not the same, but could be where we were seated (in the lobby area of the building away from the restaurant) - it really like we were even there. The menu is much smaller than it used to bebe.
Delicious and excellent service ! A must when in DC !
We were told by friends that Old Ebbitt Grill was a must-do in D.C. We went early (6:15 pm reservation) and were seated by the hostess stand, next to the packed bar. The place was so noisy we couldn't hear ourselves, much less the waiter. Food was 5-star - soft-shell crab and scallops were absolutely wonderful. Service was good too. We just won't go back to a totally touristy, jam-packed, sports-bar-like scene. Been there, done that.
