Old Ebbitt Grill Ratings and Reviews
very disappointed in the service..... steak was supposed to be medium well and it was not..... it was undercooked....... crab cakes were lukewarm....... staff not helpful..... waiter forgot to bring our bread and drinks.... constantly had to remind him.... when you drop over $200 you expect better..... have in the past but may not visit in future.
It's a must go to place in Washington.
You must try the oysters too -lots to choose from.
Great dining experience. Make sure you book in advance, this place is always busy every night. Keep an eye out for their live music nights too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.
Met my sister and her husband while they were visiting the area for a business meeting. The food was fantastic. Our server was top of the line and the extra servers were more that willing to answer any questions or concerns we had. We found the atmosphere friendly and inviting and would absolutely come back!! Thanks, Kathy
Out of 4 restaurants visited in D.C. (the others were Del Campo, Proper 21 and Zaytinya, all of which were excellent), the quality of the cooking was clearly the lowest among the four: Hummus that did not taste like much, peppers and kale that turned out to be not so digestible some time later, and the sauces of the otherwise ok grilled meat consisted mainly of the meat juice, so lots of salt and Pepper needed to spruce it up.
The atmoshpere is cozy once the biggest rush is over, and the waiters are friendly , but you can easily find better food in D.C.
We do a family holiday lunch with the kids every year and sometimes I wonder if I should pick a new place just to change things up. This weekend proved that some traditions are just meant to stay. We had a wonderful meal, great service and yet another memorable family holiday lunch in the books. Can't wait to come back.
The restaurant is really big and was packed when I visited for Sunday brunch. The hostesses seemed distracted and way too busy and my waitress was also very busy and it took her a while to get to my table to take drink orders. Perhaps a different time of day would have lended a different experience but given the reviews on line I expected better service. That said, good food and great location!
Overall great experience. The raw oysters were phenomenal, and I always appreciate when the oyster selection isn't solely from the east coast or the gulf. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium rare and it appeared more medium. When I asked my server about it, he seemed to get defensive whilst explaining that this particular kind of beef (I got the steak frites) appears medium even though it's medium rare. Honestly seems like a hogwash answer to get a patron to shut up and eat, but I'm not a steak connoisseur. I wish that it was suggested that I ordered the steak rare in that case, but it was still very delicious! Overall, this is now on my list as a notable date spot. Super cute, super classy!
We had an awful experience, despite previous good ones. My husbands dinner came out burned and cold. The waitress took it back, and the next plate that came out was burned as well. Although the waitress was trying to correct the problem, the manager was horrible and rude. No apologies or anything!
