Very attentive staff! overall my family and I had a great experience :)
Our server was Alex (Alexis ? Maybe). She was EXCELLENT, prompt, knowledgeable, friendly- really improved our experience. We have dined there in the past and always came away with a good feeling-but she treated us like family and it was great - we hope to return soon!!
Our group of six went for lunch during Restaurant Week. We were seated outside of the restaurant proper next to the water fountain - it was great. The food was excellent and so was the service.
Old Ebbitt's Grill had been recommended to us on multiple occasions. We finally got the chance to try it this past weekend and every single thing we ate was absolutely delicious. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and Clam Chowder then had the Roasted Chicken and the Filet Mignon. Probably one of the best filets that we have ever had. Highly recommend for a special occasion night out or just a nice date.
A very nice meal, great service and busy as always.one of my fave stops in DC.
Always a pleasure eating here - love the atmosphere and great service despite the very busy and large restaurant. The food is reliably tasty, especially the sea food. We enjoyed the Winter Restaurant week dinner, which included a choice of wine/beer $10 and under for $35! Clams casino are outstanding, and oyster gumbo is tasty. Beef bourguignon was wonderful and savor the roasted carrots, and meatloaf was tasty. Desserts are outstanding. Great comfort food in a delightful restaurant.
Thanks. Good food
Very great lunch. Great server took care of all our needs.
Extremely poor service and management . My daughter noted that it was a birthday celebration on the reservation -- there was never any acknowledgement of that (so why bother mentioning it on the reservation). We were seated at a two top table right by the water/silverware/napkin server stand. This was extremely distracting to have servers constantly on top of me. We were greeted by our server, but he then disappeared for a good 10 minutes. We decided on our bottle of wine and the other food items. When he returned, we placed our order. 20 minutes go by and still no wine. Finally, the server is in our area again and makes some excuse about difficulty pulling the wine (whatever that means). Our appetizer arrives at 40 minutes in. We had the crab and artichoke dip. It was lukewarm - not hot and bubbly. Half of the bread slices that came with the appetizer had air holes in them, so it was just the outer crust to dip with. No plates were provided to use with our appetizer and no sign of our waiter. We finished our appetizer and finally got our wine - almost an hour in. The main entrees were OK -- the crab cake again was lukewarm, not really hot. I had the fish -- nothing great. The waiter didn't check in on us until the end of our entrees. We ordered a dessert and it finally arrived. Tables all around us have come and gone and we are still sitting. We finally got the waiter to bring the check and immediately gave him the credit card. Fifteen minutes later, we still haven't finished paying and when the waiter eventually comes back to our area, he says- Oh, I guess I forgot to process your bill . We spoke to the manager (Eric) when we left. He didn't really seem to care about the service and food issues - we didn't expect anything at this point - just letting him know there were problems. Over 2.5 hrs for terrible service and mediocre food. Never again.
Food was awesome! I’ll definitely be back.
From the animal heads mounted above the old wooden bar to the wall paintings this place just feels like power and money. Food was very good but not exceptional. Service was excellent
I love the history and ambiance of Old Ebbitt Grill and the food is always good. I'm never disappointed!
We have been SEVERAL times .. Old Ebbitt Grill is our FAVORITE DC restaurant !!
Old Ebbitt Grill is the oldest saloon in Washington DC. For its age and ambiance it is great to dine somewhere historic. Right next to all major monuments - great for a quick lunch or even just to warm up during winter months.
Our service was outstanding, but the meat on our salads could have been better. The chicken was overcooked, but other than that, we really enjoyed our meals.
Overall, outstanding, as usual. For the first time we sat in the atrium. Very pleasant and relaxing.
We were seated in the atrium of an office building so didn’t get to experience the charm of the actual restaurant, so that was very disappointing.
It was a very very good overall experience! That was my first time in DC and I loved it!
Enjoyed going to this DC landmark during restaurant week. Had clams casino, meatloaf and key lime pie (ok but crust not up to our standards). As a DC resident it is a little too much a tourist place but a drink at the bar with a snack probably would bring us back. We enjoyed our dinner. Service is old school and great.
We had a great time! Great food, awesome cocktails, and a kids menu with a lot of options. Service was excellent. For this not being an obvious choice for kids given it’s slightly upscale vibe, they were so helpful and Leslie was so good to us! Definitely recommending this one!
We had a wonderful experience. Food was excellent, service was friendly and helpful. Had a great time visiting with the people sitting around us, just a friendly fun atmosphere all around.
Got seated in a lobby of an office building instead of inside the actual restaurant. Pasta comes out all clumped. Lovely staff tho but overall bad experience with their overpriced food.
Wonderful as always! Service great!
Chicken-chorizo soup was amazing. Despite being unusually crowded due to events in DC, service was efficient and responsive. Only complaint was that there was no toilet paper in the ladies' restroom.
Great place to eat for DC tourists w/o children. Very convenient to the main sites. Fantastic menus.
Terrific service, a lovely menu, our server was attentive and helpful. Cheeseboard was delish and the peanut butter pie was to die for!!
Always a great dining experience! I’ll be back for sure!
When I come to DC I make it a point to have dinner at OEG. I especially love taking friends who’ve never been. It’s always a great dining experience and the history is an added bonus.
Absolutely Amazing experience! Food, service, location, and ambiance were perfect!!!
We arrived for our reservation and the host was charming, but the waiter assigned to seat us began arguing with the host immediately, yelling over as back to the host as he led us through the restaurant. The restaurant was crowded, and he basically had us push to follow him into the back section where no table was available. He started complaining to us, then pushed past and led us through a kitchen station to a table in the exterior courtyard which was freezing cold and a table of 8 (4 children) had just been seated next to the one where he was seating us. I pointed to a booth inside the restaurant and he very rudely said he would see about it. I went to the booth and sat down; the waiter never returned. We were ignored for about 20 minutes until I grabbed another waiter who was upset that we had not been given menus when we were seated (the original waiter had never come back). The waiter who then served us was very very rude -- he forgot to put in our order, tried to rush us through everything, and when we asked for more time, he disappeared for about 30 minutes. Really, the worst service I have had in years. The crab cake was disappointing (I've been having it for years -- this was undercooked and seemed to have more filler than usual); fries were served cold. I will skip out on the OEG for a while until they get their management together again,
Had an early reservation and were lucky to sit in an elegant booth. They participate in Restaurant week so we took advantage of the deal. Food was delicious. Cocktails and wine were enjoyed with leisure, not ever feeling rushed although the place was packed. Ambience is dark enough for atmosphere and adds to the experience. Formal and friendly servers who are on top of their game.
Restaurant week. Too busy to serve us. Take 1.5 hours but we couldn’t even eat dessert that we ordered...
Great service. Front/Main room is very loud, but wintergarden is nice quiet and good for groups.
The short ribs with polenta was delicious!
A great option for a business lunch at the very heart of DC. Set three-course lunch is very reasonably priced and attractive; if you feel it's a bit too much to eat, then you can choose from the main menu with even better prices. Been there twice, excellent food both times and the service is absolutely wonderful, perfect combination of upscale professionalism without a stiff attitude. Not noisy and tables separated enough so you can have a proper discussion. Warmly recommended.
We were a group who came from all over the country to spend time together and we were seated in the atrium...essentially outside of the restaurant. As amazing as the ambiance is inside the physical restaurant, we felt shorted by our experience. Certainly not the Old Ebbitt we were hoping for.
Fantastic dinner. Excellent service. Great martini See you next time. Always great dining experience.
I love to bring business colleagues to Old Ebbitt! Atmosphere is great, as is the food. It is a favorite!!!
Always a great spot for dinner!!!
