Bustling atmosphere, great ambiance. Food was average. Service was polite but somewhat slow.
Always a pleasure to dine here, despite the crowds. Our waiter this time, Brad, was exceptionally good! A real professional. And the meat-loaf special was, indeed, special.
As always excellent service, food, and drinks! Old Ebbitt is always a request from my family when they come to visit.
Our last dinner in DC. Beautiful restaurant, prices are OK, dress attire is all over the board (which is good in my opinion), service was excellent! Only complaint was that where we were sitting (back in a tight corner) it was really loud. So much so we could not talk at all. Right on top of other guests. Maybe take out a table or two to give some space between tables. Food was fantastic though!!!
Too bad Old Ebbitt......Unfortunately, slow service and steak not cooked to order... a little disappointing..
Love Old Ebbitt! Great food, service and atmosphere along with reasonable pricing!!! Our server was outstanding!!
A must if you’re in DC. Don’t forget to make a reservation. I had the salmon Benedict for brunch. Delicious! Our waitress was a jewel. Will definitely return on our next visit to DC.
Brunch was great, food was very good! We went around noon and it was very busy but we had a reservation and we were sat right away! With all of the servers and busers running around we kinda expected a little better service but our waitress kept disappearing! Other then that everything was better then expected!
Food drinks and ambiance good but we had a reservation for 930pm and we checked in and got the alert device at 920 (along with people without advanced reservations), thankfully we got lucky and got 2 chairs at bar. we finally went and asked about our table at 1010pm and they said it was just now ready ... it was like they didn't have our reservation.
It was very nice but our special occasion was not addressed
Great food and great atmosphere!
Food was good, service good. A very touristy place. If you never eaten there, by all means go. As a Vegetarian, I wish there had been offerings.
Noise level extremely loud.
Saw Jim Belushi come in too!
I am in love with this place. I love their pasta and seafood. GET THERE CRAB DIP on the starters side. I could eat here every single day and never get sick of it.
Old Ebbitt Grill is Best known for its great location close to the White House. Its longevity and reasonably good food has made this place very popular making it hard to find a table. We had reservations and were seated quickly. Service was a bit slow as this place was busy and the wait staff is stretched thin.
My overall impression is that you are paying a premium for this place’s reputation and it falls just a bit short in value. But if you need to check the box, go ahead and get a reservation so at least you won’t wait.
Really good food and service. Chef made me a meal that was no longer on the menu which was really appreciated. Seems like they're known for their oysters and seafood. Staff was very friendly and would go back again.
Great Service ! Food came out much faster than expected . Impeccable staff make you comfortable and kept your glass full .
We ate breakfast and the food was delicious once our order was corrected. The service was not as good as we expected. We waited at least 5 minutes before being offered coffee. We will definitely return for the food and the ambience.
Es la tercera vez que voy esta vez el servicio no fue también
Brought a first tinder date here. We both had a fun time. I have been here in the past as a boy with my family.
Top notch quality and atmosphere. Entrees should not be served 5 minutes after a salad is served & no check in or drink refill for quite some after being served.
Had to wait almost 30 minutes after our mid-week 5:30 reservation. Food was fine, but not sure what the big attraction is.
1/2 price oysters before 6 were outstanding. Wife and I split dozen - 2 each of 6 different varieties. Scallops and crab cake entrees splendid. Only downer was sitting near entrance with horde of people coming and going. I used OpenTable to book reservation 3 weeks ahead and was told 5:30 or 8:30. Parties were coming in and waiting 1-2 hours for seating. Makes for noisy dinner.
Great food (oysters too) and service. Sat at 2 top and interacted with other tables nearby. Very busy near front of house - a bit distracting but not overly so. Still on my "go back" list.
Awesome location with excellent food. It is a must stop place every time you are in DC
Burnt cornbeef hash. Bland, dry food!
Recommended by so many, even my grandma when she used to work in DC! It was great for my Fiance and I! Watermelon Margarita was great!
Wonderful. Right from walking in. Felt welcomed. Did have a reservation. Arrived early. Staff, food, wine list, ambience. All was as perfect as could have wished. Which was surprising for as busy as this place is. Will definitely go again when back in DC.
Great meal! Definetely worth the wait. Make sure to put this on your list!
We enjoyed our dinner. While the food was good, the service was great. We dined on the pork chop, crab cakes, and filet (the waiter and chef did a great job accommodating the food allergy in our party). The service was spectacular. Our waiter was very engaging and attentive. While the restaurant noise was overall loud, the location of our table was more on the quiet side and we didn't have to yell at each other to be heard.
Definitely worth a visit!
Amazingly good food. We dined here on recommendations from multiple sources. We (Me, husband & 12 & 14 yo boys)all loved it so much that we made another reservation for another night that same week while still at the restaurant! Large portions of food.
Our meal and drinks were fantastic! We enjoyed every bite! Best Manhattan I've had out, possibly ever! Kale Caesar salad and crab cake were unbelievable. Would love to go again next time we visit D.C!
Met here for lunch. Recommend making reservations well in advance. Service was top notch, very friendly and professional wait staff. I had the turkey burger, was also top notch. When visiting DC, you should definitely plan a meal at Old Ebbitt Grill
Could not reserve a table for 11:30, so we came earlier. Yet when we left (12:30) dozens of tables and booths were still empty. Why deceive your customers? Give them what they ask for, if possible. Clearly, this was possible
The food was incredible! I took my 3 children, ages 7, 10 and 12. The restaurant is very kid friendly and has a great kids menu. This is still fine dining with a phenomenal adult menu. My only issue was that our food took a very long time to arrive. Two tables seated after us and who ordered after us received their meals before us. When I inquired what the delay was I was told it took longer because I have a shellfish alkergy so they had to clean the pans....seems like pans would be cleaned regardless. So for service I gave it only 3 stars because I expect a fine restaurant to be prepared for diners with food allergies. In compensation for the delay our desserts were comped so I think we were well taken care of!
We had stated our special occasion but the table we were given was in a row along one wall in the middle of which was a position with cutlery etc and water where there were constantly waiters rushing to and from it. Our table was right next to it. The restaurant was very busy so we didn’t ask about moving tables. This spoilt our experience but we have tried to rate the restaurant without taking this into account. They really need to think carefully about whether they should have this station positioned next to any table.
Great place to go as out of town guests visiting DC!
Great food & great service. Worth the wait!
I have always loved this place, having dined when in DC for at least 25 years. This time I can't give it top review numbers for several reasons. This is based on dinner at 5:15 on Sunday evening
Oysters took 45 minutes to arrive. They were, however, excellent.
Noise level was deafening.
Food was very good, but not exceptional. I thought I remembered shrimp and grits from another visit - maybe I am mistaken, but I was sorry not to see it on the menu.
Excellent, as always. Made a reservation for party of 4 at 3pm on a very busy Sunday. Had to reschedule at the last minute and they were able to fit us in at 5pm. Great food, great time! Love Old Ebbitt Grill!
Very crowded but wait staff were friendly and did not rush us. Food was excellent.
