Old Ebbitt is my favorite restaurant in DC. I was a little disappointed this time. While there is a "kid friendly" menu, I think more healthy choices would be ideal. Unfortunately, the one child who picked the macaroni and cheese was horribly disappointed. (she was hoping more along the lines of Kraft mac-n-cheese. She was not happy.) The service was slow, but they were very busy. Other than that, I will continue to take family and friends there. Lunch is probably the worst time to go, however. Crowded and noisy. We were in the back patio area, and it worked great for a group of 5. However, if/when it's just two of you...be careful!!!You will rub elbows with the table next to you. Ridiculously crammed in, and forget about hearing anything the other person is saying.

One of the top tier restaurants in Washington, D.C. The appetizers might be a bit overpriced but the main course was delicious. The hot chocolate beverage taste superior and a lot better than originally anticipated. Certainly will come back and make a reservation again.

Food was good and the history and location of this establishment make it worthwhile. However, the service we received was what made this visit outstanding. I was there with my wife and three kids. We got drinks, appetizers, entrée, and dessert in about 60 minutes. Including the process of paying, and we were only there a little over and hour. I thought the fine and speedy service was worthy of mention.

I loved the decor of the place. I had the market salad with salmon and the salmon was cooked perfectly. We ordered the cheese platter appetizer which would have been better if the cheese had been sliced and if it had more of the apple butter. The cappuccino was great.

Old Ebbitt Grill was the perfect conclusion to a short trip to DC. A classic restaurant with a great old bar, dark wood paneling, historic paintings and comfortable booths. Excellent food, excellent service, and the "liquid desserts" are a great way to end your meal.

We made another great choice with the Old Ebbitt Grill. It is the oldest saloon in Washington and was founded in 1856. This is another masterpiece by the Clyde’s Restaurant Group. The interior décor is stunning and offers several dining rooms and bar areas. The Grill has an enormous collection of antiques, memorabilia, beer steins, animal heads (from Teddy Roosevelt) and wooden bears (from Alexander Hamilton). There are three carved glass panels representing the Treasury Building, the Capitol and the White House. We were seated in the Atrium Dining Room, which was very quiet compared to the main dining room. Jovan, our server, was friendly and attentive. The six of us thought the service and quality of the food was top notch. We enjoyed a Cheeseburger, a Cubano, two Walter’s Favorites, a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and a Bacon-Horseradish Meatloaf. Reservations are a must here.

The Old Ebbitt Grill is one of our favorites for lunch when in town. The service was outstanding - we were informed of specials and what the waitresses favorites on the menu were. The oysters are always a draw. This time a squash & spicy sausage pasta was quite a treat. The crab cake was also very good & tables around us were singing the praises of the burgers.

To me , the quality of the food and service was in par with what we would expect from a $$$$ restaurant. If you want a more quiet and romantic atmosphere, ask to be seated outside(it's like some big lobby that has a fountain).

Although an old established Washingston staple, the grill has morphed with the times. The four bars and varied dining rooms make for a wonderful dining experience. Gas lights, formally set tables, large historic painted cityscapes and varied menu are accented by attentive, affable servers. The value is notable as prices are moderate. Great place. We always dine here when in town.

A close friend and I were in town with our young daughters so see the historic sites. We scheduled dinner based on recommendations and we were not disappointed. Great selection and environment and even the kids menu wasn't the average. Great experience and i'll be back again.

My Husband and I are regular clients and visit Old Ebbitt several times a month. We go there for the quality of the food experience but primarily for the excellent service we receive, especially from our favorite Server, Sam, who we always request. Even when he is not working, other staff know we are his regulars and they take excellent care of us because of him. Luis is a perfect example of this service as he always takes such good care of us. As an example, On our recent visit last Sunday I asked if I could get carrots as a vegetable with my Salmon, and Steven, the Sous Chef made me an incredibly delicious carrot medley-outstanding!! Sam ALWAYS makes sure that we have exactly what we are looking for and Steven, the Sous Chef has previously expertly accommodated a special request I had. Additionally, our family was visiting from out of town over the Christmas holidays and Sam, while not working that day, made sure that we had a reservation for a nice comfortable table where we could enjoy the food, the holiday decor, and spend quality time with our family during their visit.

I hope my comments are passed on to senior management to express our appreciation to your efficient and very professional staff for their excellent job performance and concern for ensuring clients receive the best service during a visit.

Menu selection looked great. Ordered the meatloaf but it was dry, not moist. Others in my party had good reviews of their dinner plates, but nothing outstanding. Ambience was good, was able to hold a conversation without having to raise my voice. We had a party of 6. We did have appetizers which were good, but didn't order desserts.

Booked here due to it being close to the museums. Everything was amazing! Came for Sunday brunch and started with the crab and artichoke dip; it’s delicious. Our entrees were equally as good. Our server was personable and very attentive. He recommended a great tea due to me being a little under the weather. The ambiance is perfect for a date. Five stars for me!

Fantastic. The entire restaurant was packed to the gills, but our service was fantastic start to finish. We sat in the atrium dining area so it was relatively quite. Perfect for our table of 6 to be able to easily hear one another. The menu is not overwhelmingly large but has a great variety. We ordered 6 different dinner entrees and were all very happy. Our server was superb. Very attentive while not being overbearing. I know some of the Clydes properties may be lacking in one way or another, but this flagship restaurant is a well-oiled machine.

Fun historic restaurant. You should book reservations as they can get very crowded. They have animals that were shot by Teddy Roosevelt over the bar. The food is good and the happy hour has a great deal on the seafood tower called the Orca. We also had the parmesan trout that was good. The meatloaf was a little too seasoned/spicy for me. Great drinks and wine list. Very much recommend the Old Ebbitt.

We eat from time to time at the Old Ebbitt Grill and really like the place. It's a bit of history as the first time I went there was when I was in OCS at Fort Belvoir in the late '60's. I kept going back over the years when business took me to DC. The atmosphere is terrific, the service is stellar, and the food is pretty darn good. There was a little adventure with a crawling bug in the booth next to ours, but it was taken care of and the bugs have to live too. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich with perfect fries; my companions had the crab cake which was delicious. Desserts I have to say were so -so and haagan daas ice cream isn't the best choice. But aside from that, we'll be back!
