The home made pastas were the best part of the entire thing. I specifically asked for extra sauce on mine because it's like a ravioli and I wanted it well coated, it was quite dry. The veal chop was cooked perfectly but the sauce was way too sweet and overpowered the delicate flavor of the veal itself. Also the rapini was super SUPER bitter. Like unbearable to the point where we spat it out. The Bolognese was great but when the food runner took the plate to box it up it was never seen again. Not the best meal I've had in DC. Probably won't return.

Old Ebbitt’s is one of my favorite DC restaurants and has been for years! The food is great, the service is great. BUT it is a very busy place and reservations are absolutely required! I recommend getting there early!

We found this restaurant on-line and since it was close to the National Gallery of Art, we decided to make on-line reservations. The waiter, the ambience, the food and the overall experience was fabulous.

The service, food, and ambiance of this restaurant were superb! We made reservations in advance, which is highly recommended if you have parties of more than 4 people. The staff were attentive and friendly. The menu has some amazing seasonal drinks and dishes that our group immensely enjoyed. Overall, a great experience!

We enjoyed a delightful evening at the historic Old Ebbitt Grill on this visit to DC. We had reservations so were seated right away. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We enjoyed beer and cocktails to begin our evening. The Blood Orange Refresher was wonderful. For a Starter, we selected the Grilled Oysters and then dined on Maryland Day Boat Scallops and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. Each dish was a culinary delight and the portions were perfect. We topped off the dinner by sharing the Flourless Chocolate Torte which was the highlight of the entire meal. As wonderful as the eating experience was, the atmosphere and decor were just as extraordinary. One sits at a white-clothed table surrounded by mahogony paneling, brass railings, and large oil paintings. The noise level is lively but not too loud for conversation. A trip to DC needs to always include a meal at Old Ebbitt Grill.

I️ was the typical great experience at Old Ebbitt Grill. With reservations we had to wait a few minutes before being seated, which was expected. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was outstanding.

We chose to eat here almost as an afterthought, but after we did, we were very happy we had gone. The food was very good, the portions were perfect, more the enough to fill the empty void that had developed after a long day running around in a conference.
The service was impeccable, our waitress was very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for anything, even though the place was busy.
We are just sad that we are not local and can't go more often.

Went out with a group of 5 on a Sunday evening— reservation for 8 but didn’t have our table available til 820. Oyster selection was excellent. Food selection is vast— many different types, many different options. Wine selection is good with really good price points. Service was SLOW.

Came here for brunch with friends, was crowded on the Sunday we went so definitely make a reservation. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server Jon. He was fantastic and helpful, even though I could tell he was very busy, we never felt rushed or ignored. Our food came out quickly and correct and it tasted divine( fried oyster benie especially) Will definitely be returning!

We hadn't been to the Old Ebbitt Grill in years and we had out of town guests who we wanted to take out to a Washington landmark to give them a feeling of Washington. It fulfilled our expectations and certainly theirs. The food was good, the atmosphere fun. It is so easily accessible. We metered and our guests ubered and we all found it easy. We had thought getting reservations would be a problem but that also worked thanks to open table.

Breakfast incident-Did not make order as requested asked for no cabbage on the plate with my schnitzel I can’t stand the taste so even the juice from it on my Schnitzel ruined it. They made it over but by the time I got it the others were done

Then Dinner reservation- tables are way to close together you may as well be setting with the strangers next to you. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. As I went to eat the last one I saw most all the vein was left in the shrimp. I beckoned a young lady and asked her if she could get my waitress she asked me what was wrong with a lot and attitude I showed her. Shen took the single shrimp off my plate with her hands. Walked by the wait station area toward the oyster bar area then stopped went back to the station area grabbed a small plate threw it on the plate and then went to the oyster bar serving area. Then came back to my table with a replacement shrimp and may as well have thrown the plate on the table. All I wanted her to do was get my waitress for me who was very pleasant by the way, I told my waitress about it and i was not charged for it. I had heard so many positive things about the place but was VERY VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISSAPPOINTED with my visit ‼️‼️‼️

A very busy place, situated near the White House with delicious food and great drinks like the Maryland Bloody Mary! The oyster stew was the best I ever had too! You definitely need a reservation though.

First, we've been coming to Old Ebbitts for over 50 years(this includes the original OE) and this is the first time we've been disappointed. So with this preamble let me tell you what made me say this. Clyde's Tower Oaks, for this month, has better oysters, better menu, and better staff. We ate there earlier in the week. Add to this free valet parking and a beautiful Great Room and its adds up to a better restaurant. Now without a TO to compare it to, OE's is still a wonderful restaurant. It has its own charm and it dynamic for a late dinner. We will return fro another go.
