This was a terrible experience and not worth returning for a second shot. I’m not sure what impact this will have, as this is an old place steeped in historical DC — however if it helps one person save their money and eat elsewhere I’ll be glad.

The service was a D- at best. Cold. Rushed. Our server seemed to be either having a horrible night working or a great night toxically induced. Which ever the reason, he was not helpful. He had a poor memory bringing out food with cheese and dairy on it after I stated I have a fairly allergy, and never bothered to ask how our food was or if we needed anything, which was a shame because we needed an entirely new meal.

The food was absolutely terrible. EVERYTHING was over salted. To the point where I and my boyfriend couldn’t eat more than a few bites of all that was ordered. (Roast chicken, steak frites, beef and vegetable soup (which I believe was 100% canned) clams casino..)

We kept downing water, and to his credit, the water boy was the only one attentive all night.

Trying to get his attention was futile as he would wisk past and not bother to look. However, when it came time to pay the bill, he gave the check to my boyfriend and waited back and forth behind him so her could run the cc. That was the only time he was close or waited. Unbelievable.

At best, this is an expensive dinner. Save your money and go elsewhere. If the locals want to dump their dollars in a local hole, go for it, but this place should not be recommended for any caliber of a nice restaurant. Additionally all the food, apps, soup and entrees all came out at the same time ! Our waiter didn’t even give us the courtesy of asking why all our plates where practically still full before they were taken away by the bus person.

My Parmesan rainbow trout had far too much cheese; I could barely taste the fish. The waitress seemed irritated when we asked for anything extra, i.e. telling which cheese was which for the sampler. The crab could only be served cold and lacked flavor.

Great late night find after a show at the Kennedy Center on Sunday night. Arrived before our 11pm reservation and got sat right away. Host was very friendly. Derek (our waiter) made us feel welcome the minute we sat down. We had a few questions and he knew everything about the menu, recommending some great items. Most raw bar items were 1/2 price after 11pm, so we took advantage of that. I had the crab cake entree - chock full of crab meat served with sweet potato wedges and cole slaw. My guest had the catfish served with spicy jambalaya and cilantro rice, which he said was delicious. The Ketal One martini's were a nice pour and at a fair price. Glad to know this place serves late as few places do. We will be back again soon!

Always a go to place when we are in DC. Food was amazing (my husband had NY Strip Steak and I had the Shrimp Linguini). A fun environment and attentive service!

I always end up here. Husband's favorite, not mine. The atmosphere is nice. Food to me is good, not great. Tonight the salad was bitter and the trout done well. Skip the house wine.

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday with friends and family. The food was wonderful and the wait staff was friendly, with just the right amount of attention. We would recommend to anyone.

Had reservation seated in 5 mins! Erica, our waitress was great. Food was great. Place was packed so it was a little noisy next to the bar. Will always return when in DC.
