I always end up here. Husband's favorite, not mine. The atmosphere is nice. Food to me is good, not great. Tonight the salad was bitter and the trout done well. Skip the house wine.

We thought this would be a type of institutional restaurant, one with history and great vibes. But it felt more like a tourist trap.

A really wonderful restaurant! Tables for two are very close together so not very intimate when you can clearly hear the people sitting right next to you. Brunch is a popular meal here, usually very packed so definitely make a reservation. Overall, wonderful restaurant and the oldest in DC which makes for a fun and interesting experience.

Just as most people say, this was a great experience. Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, loved the feel of history. Service was great as well.

The service was fine and the food was pretty good. It is a bit of a tourist trap and therefore overpriced. There are better more affordable options. One other thing. The restaurant looks tired and doesn’t feel clean. My chair had a fabric cover and was loaded with stains. Also the tablecloth was threadbare . For the prices they charge it should be nicer.

If you're there for brunch, definitely try the French toast breakfast club. AMAZING.

This is easily the most visited restaurant in DC, which is both good and bad. The atmosphere is lively, the food is very good, and the wine list is adequate (as long as they aren't out of your first two choices). I'm glad I visited, but probably wouldn't be a regular if I lived in DC.

An exceptional evening of food and enjoyment for three of us. The waiter was wonderful in every way. We made some slight changes to our orders with instructions regarding how we liked our fish and he got our orders exactly as we wanted. Could not have been more pleased. The swordfish and trout were cooked to perfection.
