It was the first night of our honeymoon. I booked in advance and requested a booth upstairs by the windows. I mentioned it was our honeymoon. None of that was respected or mentioned and we were seated at a small table near the front door in a very loud area. I love your restaurant and it is the first place I always dine at when I come to Washington. After a 10 hr drive from Ottawa, Canada it would have been nice to be treated better. Our waiter was lovely and very knowledgeable. The food and drinks as always were wonderful.

Braised beef short rib fettuccine is exceptional. Pleasantly surprised by the amount of shredded beef on the fettuccine. The mixed mushrooms and sauce really complemented the dish.

The Greeter, Evelyn was beyond horrible. Reservation was for 1200 checked in at 1140 she ended up cancelling the reservation and then somehow reopened it to seat us at 1230. Then wanted to put us in a both with a chair on the end. Her outward snobbery was not appreciated nor warranted. Get her off the front lines she will kill the fact of me or any of my colleagues dining at Old Ebbitt. Don't take your crowds for granted. The sword cuts both ways. She sat three parties as large as mine who she said had reservations and I know you do not give the pager to those with reservations. Honestly one manager and our server tried to make it up. Between them they tuned a horrible reception into a pleasant ending but as you can tell I am still not over the impression Evelyn gives off. She needs to go!

Food was good. Seating near the bar ended up being a bit chaotic but overall it was a good experience.

Very much enjoyed myself, espically the happy hour half price oysters! Just try to get reservations or get there early.

very disappointed in the service..... steak was supposed to be medium well and it was not..... it was undercooked....... crab cakes were lukewarm....... staff not helpful..... waiter forgot to bring our bread and drinks.... constantly had to remind him.... when you drop over $200 you expect better..... have in the past but may not visit in future.

Delicious food. Beautiful surroundings. Very popular so less relaxing because of the volume of diners.

We went to Old Ebbitt for a holiday get together/happy hour for my team. While we only had apps, the food was fantastic and I have always loved the bar. The service was not as good as usual.

We reserved a table for ten and confirmed the day of the event. When we arrived, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Another 10 to give our drink order, and 15 more to get our drinks. So it wasn't the end of the world or anything, but 45 minutes between arriving and getting a beer - just not up to their normal service level. Still, the staff was friendly and we had a great time.

I'll certainly go back because it is an old favorite, but probably only with smaller groups.

I like Old Ebbit, but that day I had the worse piece of swordfish I have ever had in a restaurant.

Great experience. I dine there often. This a very special Washington DC venue, as a great number of power players, like myself, attend for business meetings. I highly recommend as a destination location.

It's a must go to place in Washington.
You must try the oysters too -lots to choose from.
Great dining experience. Make sure you book in advance, this place is always busy every night. Keep an eye out for their live music nights too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

Met my sister and her husband while they were visiting the area for a business meeting. The food was fantastic. Our server was top of the line and the extra servers were more that willing to answer any questions or concerns we had. We found the atmosphere friendly and inviting and would absolutely come back!! Thanks, Kathy

Out of 4 restaurants visited in D.C. (the others were Del Campo, Proper 21 and Zaytinya, all of which were excellent), the quality of the cooking was clearly the lowest among the four: Hummus that did not taste like much, peppers and kale that turned out to be not so digestible some time later, and the sauces of the otherwise ok grilled meat consisted mainly of the meat juice, so lots of salt and Pepper needed to spruce it up.
The atmoshpere is cozy once the biggest rush is over, and the waiters are friendly , but you can easily find better food in D.C.

For several years, our extended family has been having dinner and going to see the White House Christmas tree. It is not always easy to get a reservation; we must plan ahead. It is always worth the effort!

We do a family holiday lunch with the kids every year and sometimes I wonder if I should pick a new place just to change things up. This weekend proved that some traditions are just meant to stay. We had a wonderful meal, great service and yet another memorable family holiday lunch in the books. Can't wait to come back.

The restaurant is really big and was packed when I visited for Sunday brunch. The hostesses seemed distracted and way too busy and my waitress was also very busy and it took her a while to get to my table to take drink orders. Perhaps a different time of day would have lended a different experience but given the reviews on line I expected better service. That said, good food and great location!

Overall great experience. The raw oysters were phenomenal, and I always appreciate when the oyster selection isn't solely from the east coast or the gulf. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium rare and it appeared more medium. When I asked my server about it, he seemed to get defensive whilst explaining that this particular kind of beef (I got the steak frites) appears medium even though it's medium rare. Honestly seems like a hogwash answer to get a patron to shut up and eat, but I'm not a steak connoisseur. I wish that it was suggested that I ordered the steak rare in that case, but it was still very delicious! Overall, this is now on my list as a notable date spot. Super cute, super classy!

The service was outstanding and the food exceeded my expectations! Definitely reccommend the crab and artichoke dip for starter, cannelloni di casa for entre, and the butterscotch blondie for dessert. I would go back again and again for these menu items!!

The food was good and the oysters fresh. The waiter and bar tender service was outstanding. For DC, the prices are very reasonable and the location is excellent for central DC lunch and dining.

Old Ebbitt's is a long time family favorite. We have been visiting for a Christmas celebration for many years and enjoy it's proximity to the National Christmas tree and this year, to DAR Constitution Hall for the AF Band Christmas concert.

We had an awful experience, despite previous good ones. My husbands dinner came out burned and cold. The waitress took it back, and the next plate that came out was burned as well. Although the waitress was trying to correct the problem, the manager was horrible and rude. No apologies or anything!
