Old Ebbitt Grill Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed our visit. I've never been there for Brunch. I only wish they offered more classic breakfast food for brunch. I had my favorite sandwich, Reuben which is always great but since I was there at 10 I was looking for more basic breakfast items.
Other than traditional brunch selections, everything g else was great!! Food, service and ambiance!
It was the first night of our honeymoon. I booked in advance and requested a booth upstairs by the windows. I mentioned it was our honeymoon. None of that was respected or mentioned and we were seated at a small table near the front door in a very loud area. I love your restaurant and it is the first place I always dine at when I come to Washington. After a 10 hr drive from Ottawa, Canada it would have been nice to be treated better. Our waiter was lovely and very knowledgeable. The food and drinks as always were wonderful.
We took a very special couple here for the very first time this past Friday. Unfortunately We were stuck in traffic coming from Woodbridge and were 15 minutes late for our reservation. The front desk seated us immediately when we finally arrived - awesome! And the wait was superb. We can not say enough about her. Didn't get her name, but know she has been there for six years and has 5 children.....she was AMAZING!!!!
WE WILL BE BACK.....soon
It has a very good reputation and it delivered. It was a busy evening so the second round of drinks got messed up but the waiter promptly corrected the "issue" and comped the drink so I can't find any fault there. We had a reservation and got there early but were seated within 30 seconds of walking in the door. All and all a well oiled machine that delivers on it's name and heritage.
The Greeter, Evelyn was beyond horrible. Reservation was for 1200 checked in at 1140 she ended up cancelling the reservation and then somehow reopened it to seat us at 1230. Then wanted to put us in a both with a chair on the end. Her outward snobbery was not appreciated nor warranted. Get her off the front lines she will kill the fact of me or any of my colleagues dining at Old Ebbitt. Don't take your crowds for granted. The sword cuts both ways. She sat three parties as large as mine who she said had reservations and I know you do not give the pager to those with reservations. Honestly one manager and our server tried to make it up. Between them they tuned a horrible reception into a pleasant ending but as you can tell I am still not over the impression Evelyn gives off. She needs to go!
I made a reservation over a month in advance but still was told to "get in line" and then had to wait for a table. Noise level was extreme. Service was phenomenally good, food was tasty, prices were reasonable. I have been before but don't recall that it was so crazy. Especially on a Wednesday evening- early....This used to be my go-to for pre-National Theatre events but I will rethink it in the future.
very disappointed in the service..... steak was supposed to be medium well and it was not..... it was undercooked....... crab cakes were lukewarm....... staff not helpful..... waiter forgot to bring our bread and drinks.... constantly had to remind him.... when you drop over $200 you expect better..... have in the past but may not visit in future.
We went to Old Ebbitt for a holiday get together/happy hour for my team. While we only had apps, the food was fantastic and I have always loved the bar. The service was not as good as usual.
We reserved a table for ten and confirmed the day of the event. When we arrived, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Another 10 to give our drink order, and 15 more to get our drinks. So it wasn't the end of the world or anything, but 45 minutes between arriving and getting a beer - just not up to their normal service level. Still, the staff was friendly and we had a great time.
I'll certainly go back because it is an old favorite, but probably only with smaller groups.
It's a must go to place in Washington.
You must try the oysters too -lots to choose from.
Great dining experience. Make sure you book in advance, this place is always busy every night. Keep an eye out for their live music nights too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.
Met my sister and her husband while they were visiting the area for a business meeting. The food was fantastic. Our server was top of the line and the extra servers were more that willing to answer any questions or concerns we had. We found the atmosphere friendly and inviting and would absolutely come back!! Thanks, Kathy
