Great experience: from the receptionist through the waitstaff, they are terrific! And the food is very tasty!

Food was good and the history and location of this establishment make it worthwhile. However, the service we received was what made this visit outstanding. I was there with my wife and three kids. We got drinks, appetizers, entrée, and dessert in about 60 minutes. Including the process of paying, and we were only there a little over and hour. I thought the fine and speedy service was worthy of mention.

I loved the decor of the place. I had the market salad with salmon and the salmon was cooked perfectly. We ordered the cheese platter appetizer which would have been better if the cheese had been sliced and if it had more of the apple butter. The cappuccino was great.

Old Ebbitt Grill was the perfect conclusion to a short trip to DC. A classic restaurant with a great old bar, dark wood paneling, historic paintings and comfortable booths. Excellent food, excellent service, and the "liquid desserts" are a great way to end your meal.

We made another great choice with the Old Ebbitt Grill. It is the oldest saloon in Washington and was founded in 1856. This is another masterpiece by the Clyde’s Restaurant Group. The interior décor is stunning and offers several dining rooms and bar areas. The Grill has an enormous collection of antiques, memorabilia, beer steins, animal heads (from Teddy Roosevelt) and wooden bears (from Alexander Hamilton). There are three carved glass panels representing the Treasury Building, the Capitol and the White House. We were seated in the Atrium Dining Room, which was very quiet compared to the main dining room. Jovan, our server, was friendly and attentive. The six of us thought the service and quality of the food was top notch. We enjoyed a Cheeseburger, a Cubano, two Walter’s Favorites, a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and a Bacon-Horseradish Meatloaf. Reservations are a must here.

The Old Ebbitt Grill is one of our favorites for lunch when in town. The service was outstanding - we were informed of specials and what the waitresses favorites on the menu were. The oysters are always a draw. This time a squash & spicy sausage pasta was quite a treat. The crab cake was also very good & tables around us were singing the praises of the burgers.

To me , the quality of the food and service was in par with what we would expect from a $$ restaurant. If you want a more quiet and romantic atmosphere, ask to be seated outside(it's like some big lobby that has a fountain).

Although an old established Washingston staple, the grill has morphed with the times. The four bars and varied dining rooms make for a wonderful dining experience. Gas lights, formally set tables, large historic painted cityscapes and varied menu are accented by attentive, affable servers. The value is notable as prices are moderate. Great place. We always dine here when in town.

A close friend and I were in town with our young daughters so see the historic sites. We scheduled dinner based on recommendations and we were not disappointed. Great selection and environment and even the kids menu wasn't the average. Great experience and i'll be back again.
