Old Ebbitt Grill
NOW OPEN: Indoor dining, Carryout - Delivery and Pickup
We know it is no fun to wear a mask while enjoying a night out, but our staff's safety is no laughing matter.
We require all guests to wear a mask while moving about the restaurant, and when speaking to Clyde's employees.
Masks have been a hot topic, with passionate views on all sides. With our team and their families' health at stake, we must err on the side of caution. We hope you will understand and look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we can all throw our masks in the trash.

When in Washington DC, the Old Ebbitt Grill is a must! Food, atmosphere, and service are truly 5 star. Thank you.
Old Ebbitt has been a favorite of mine ever since I first arrived in Washington DC. It continues to meet or exceed on all levels.
One of my favorite places for a high end meal
Wonderful dinner “outside” in the atrium.
It was amazing as always. I’ve been going to DC for years and always make it a point to visit OE.
Ambiance is nice but menu and food were just fair.
This continues to be one of our favorites!!!
Went with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and we both loved it! The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and nicely organized, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
This is an historic restaurant that has fallen below its normal superior standards across the board.
Delicious food; great service!
Great place to spend a special occasion! We celebrated our anniversary, and the food was amazing! We had oysters, lobster shepherds pie, and pan seared scallops. Highly recommend!
Everything was excellent as always. I will definitely dine here again and again.
The Maine Lobster was very delicious!
A most pleasant experience for our family
My family and I really enjoyed our dinner. The food was nice and hot. The serving size was worth the money. It was nice and clean. I will visit again when I come back to the DC area. I highly recommend dinner here.
The service was amazing. Thank you for a lovely afternoon meal for my family.
It was a grand feast yesterday for my friend and myself as we dined at the main bar at the Old Ebbitt. We started with our cocktails and a dozen succulent oysters on the half shell. We then moved on to crab cake (described as delicious by my friend) and the trout Parmesan, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The meal was capped with peach cobbler, espresso (for her) and cappuccino for me.
Service, as always was terrific!
The raw bar is the best of Old Ebbitt's offerings. Fish and meats are fine, but nothing special.
Food was excellent, raw bar happy hour was fantastic as well as the brunch menu. Showing up at 3:15 seemed to be the sweet spot. Food was well timed, didn’t feel rushed.
Didn’t expect to sit in the lobby of an abandoned office building with bright fluorescent lighting when I’ve been before and experienced the inside.
We had GREAT service and GREAT food. I love Old Ebbitt because it is a great value. It can be worrisome to go out to eat in this area because you may get caught up in a "tourist trap" with high prices and low quality food. I never fear that at Old Ebbitt. The food is always incredible and the service is even better. I will always recommend their cheeseburger but you really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
I had the salmon salad which was great my husband had the crab cake he said he it was great as well
As always, a totally pleasant experience. We come for the oysters and they are always fresh, cold and yummy. The half-price special that they offer each Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 is a real deal.
Great crab cake!
We are visiting from Colorado. I her eaten here many years ago and decided to book a Sat. brunch. The restaurant followed all the Covid protocols in terms of table separation, staff and diners wearing masks. I had the Chesapeake Benedict with 2 perfectly poached eggs and 2 crab cakes on top of 2 halved English muffin. It was delicious ! My husband had their special meat loaf which was huge portion. He enjoyed it very much. Our server was attentive and friendly. I would recommend the restaurant for lunch, brunch & dinner.
Just a classic great spot to go for dinner ... amazing food & great ambiance.
Had an amazing time with friends. Celebration haven’t seen friends in years! Bob was an awesome server!
We LOVE Old Ebitt Grill. The food is always amazing, the service is fantastic, and you cannot beat the ambiance!
Always a treat to bring out of town visitors to Old Ebbitt Grill. The menu choices are great as well as the portion sizes.
Exceptional food, service and ambiance.
Great place. I recommend the crab cakes and an old fashioned.
Waiter was excellent! Didnt like sitting in the Corner Bar and had hoped for a more romantic special spot. We were led to that area... never have seen the restaurant so empty... but it was loud and somewhat rowdy guests nearby!
A business colleague again visited the Old Ebbitt. We thought of dining at the recently and creatively reopened bar but opted for a table overlooking the newly completed expansion.
We both had the Brick Chicken and it was tasty albeit a bit dry. The mashed potatoes were excellent but could have used some gravy. And the green beans were delicious.
As always, the service was superb!
Our server, Bob, went through the oysters and made an amazing selection for us, then suggested a few of his favorite items on the menu and even made a substitution of scallops for the shrimp in the linguine pasta since we also got the jumbo shrimp cocktail as a starter. We also got the crab cakes which are the best in the city! Peanut butter: life changing. The whole meal was on point. Old Ebbitt never disappoints. Cheers!!
Returning to this spot was awesome. It was my second visit and things were great - especially in the midst of COVID19.
