We know it is no fun to wear a mask while enjoying a night out, but our staff's safety is no laughing matter.
We require all guests to wear a mask while moving about the restaurant, and when speaking to Clyde's employees.
Masks have been a hot topic, with passionate views on all sides. With our team and their families' health at stake, we must err on the side of caution. We hope you will understand and look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we can all throw our masks in the trash.

Had great service and food while visiting DC
Ambience amazing, location amazing, staff really amazing, corned beef sandwich and burger A+.... their lobster and apple crumble dessert is pure garbage. Their steak frites is like a goodyear tire, the filet mignon was good. Their menu said broccolini for the filet but i got peas. Apple pie was water soup. Really bad. Oysters Rockafeller tasted good but it was all swimming in water, barely any spinach or cheese. Better as a lunch spot than a dinner spot. And amazing old fashioned drinks. Drinks and lunch for sure. Staff is the KINDEST group of people ever.
Literally perfect! I can’t remember my servers name but he was amazing! Will be going back again! I think we found our spot!
Crab Cake dinner was delicious as well as the oysters. We had our children with us and there was slim choices for them to eat and for a "special" drink.
Not a bad experience. The food was good. Nothing special. It was lunch time so we all ordered sandwiches. I’m sure if we come back for dinner and order something more substantial the experience will different. Our server was kind but, we wanted to try this restaurant for an experience. It just didn’t add up to the hype.
Awesome dinner in this historic charm gem!! We will so be visiting again
A beautiful historic building just a block from the White House. Professional wait staff and excellent food. The weekend brunch is a highlight.
Fantastic service from Jenny, and the food was great as usual
Had reservations but was seated in a very different ambience. Noise loud due to echos. Not very relaxing.
Ambience was spectacular. Food was good but nothing to rave about. Not enough sauce on the trout. Lobster shepherds pie was just ok. My meatloaf was excellent! Our waitress was very very good but despite my noting on the reservation that it was my wife's 60th birthday and also reminding the waitress about this, she didn't offer or provide any type of celebratory dessert, such as a a simple cupcake with a candle or something like that. Not a huge thing but a little disappointing.
I grew up in DC and went with my parents to Ebbits Grill.
We live now on Cape Cod and visited Washington for a number of days. Always loved The Ebbits grill.
Everything about it is perfection.
Amazing time. The ambience was greatly for a quick lunch gathering
Old Ebbitt was an excellent recommendation for a casual dinner in the city with our two young daughters. Really great service, food was good and prepared well, drinks were well executed. One critique....our oyster selection was not indicated upon table placement and runner needed to go back to kitchen to get information. It didn’t seem like he was even prepared to give that information which is always given when multiple selection of oysters are ordered. I wouldn’t let that minor detail detour us from going back. George & Amal was delicious drink!
Thoughtfully seasonable menu. Management handled an issue during dining fairly well.
Old Ebbit Grill has been a great place to dine for me and my family for decades Great food, service, and ambience — it will take more than a pandemic to make this DC restaurant stumble.
Food was great? Service a little slow, waited a while for drinks. One of my favorite restaurants in DC.
This was our fourth visit to Old Ebbit and it was wonderful! The ambiance is very nice, the food is delicious and the OYSTERS are mouthwatering !! Definitely we will come back next time we are in DC.
You can always count on a tasty meal! I'm GF and am able to find good options on the menu.
The service was absolutely fabulous. I will always go back, the food was also great.
I will start by saying up front that I usually try to eat at this restaurant whenever I’m in DC. Great food and history! However on this visit I experienced sub par service. Server sent wrong table number to kitchen so our food orders were delayed and cold upon arrival. I asked server to confirm weight of the steak before I ordered but received a smaller portion. When I brought this to the server’s attention she didn’t try to rectify her mistake. The restaurant was not packed probably due to COVID restrictions but server was either slow or distracted because we had to wave at her to get her attention. If his was my first visit I probably would not return.
We had a lovely Sunday brunch experience at Old Ebbit. Only thing missing was the pancakes! Hoping they bring these back when they bring back the expanded menu.
Leah our server was extremely professional and friendly and made our dining experience relaxing and enjoyable.
Great food and enjoyable time!
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Old Ebbitt Grill. Our waitress was so pleasant and attentive, and our food tasted it even better than it looked. From the oysters to our meals and then dessert, everything was perfect. They have a huge selection of wines as well!
Old Ebbitt is old and dirty. Our glassware was filthy. When we asked for replacements the waiter brought us a glass that was severely cracked. My sister almost cut her lip on it. The crab cakes were sooo small - too pricey for such a small lump with lots of filling/crackers. Very disappointed. The bathrooms were so disgusting that I literally lost my appetite before dinner - trash running over, stalls had not been wiped down. It was horrible. Our waiter was very friendly but didnt check on us regularly for refills. We waited 30 mins after finishing dessert for him to come around with the check. Not sure if they were short staffed our what. Terrible experience - I would not recommend this place.
Food was terrible. Our drinks tasted watered down, I had two lobster shell pieces within my Shepherds pie. My wife had to send back her filet twice due to grizzle and fat. Overall terrible experience and I used to love this place.
We won’t be back again.
Tutu our waitress stole the show! She was extremely helpful without being overpowering. Her help was greatly appreciated. Food was amazing and staff was great! Loved every moment and would definitely return and tell others as well.
Husband and I were visiting from out of state for a weekend getaway and absolutely loved this spot!!! Everything was delicious!! It’s only been 2 days since I’ve been there and I’m still craving the seared salmon goodness! Amazing. Our waiter Bob was just as awesome! Really knew his stuff and was so pleasant to speak too. Gave us recommendations on everything and definitely worth a try! Highly recommend this place and it’s ambiance. So much history and great vibes.
Although this is a D.C. icon it’s lost it’s luster. Although we had reservations we were seated out in the courtyard of an office building instead of inside the restaurant. Strike one. The food was way overpriced. Strike two. The hangar steak was so tough it took my sister a half hour to actually almost finish it. She definitely had to wrestle it into submission. Strike three. The other thing is that if you are an establishment specializing in oysters you had better damn well know where they come from. The one bright spot was the service. We won’t be coming back to this restaurant filled with tourist families. So disappointing.
Professional staff, Covid professional and safe environment, classic ambiance
The food and service was truly excellent. We thought Covid would have diminished the experience, but it was a wonderful restaurant experience.
Always a favorite and consistently good. Solid American fare. Raw bar is a welcome treat.
Loved everything about it. Our waiter "Johnny" was especially friendly and engaging.
There was a guy sitting at the bar working on his computer and drinking while talking on his phone for work. He was very very loud talking business on his phone, my husband and I we ended up leaving because we could not have a conversation nor enjoy his birthday lunch because of this guy. Yes I did say something to the host and he replied sorry that what people do sometimes 😡
As always, if you want a delicious meal & great service, Old Ebbitt is the place for you.
Always a great experience at old Ebbitts! It's where we take our friends whenever they come to visit.
Excellent dinner & amazing service!
