Sometimes in the restaurant world, the planets do align and you get a place like the Old Ebbitt Grill. Warm ambience, a great bar, beautifully prepared food at reasonable prices, and welcoming, attentive service.

I had a great experience at Old Ebbitt Grill! It was my first time in DC and I needed to find a nice dinner spot for just myself. My waiter was very kind and gave me time to choose my order without pressure. The food runner brought my dinner out, the side of choice was wrong, and my server promptly brought me the appropriate side with no issues. My glass of wine was delicious. Can't wait to come back!

A very enjoyable pre-concert dinner. The service was perfect! A very extensive wine list with the most reasonable pricing we have seen in quite a while. We had the salmon and swordfish entrees; they were both presented perfectly. Each piece of fish melted in your mouth. We always plan on Old Ebbitt's when we are in DC, and we are always satisfied!!!

The history of the Old Ebbitt Grill is interesting and the food is good.

Unfortunately, our waiter completely forgot about our appetizer. I would have reminded him about it but decided against it because the restaurant was quite busy and very noisy. We just wanted to finish our dinners and leave as soon as possible. I can't recommend going there for anything business related (as was our situation), but it would be nice to go with friends.

I booked the reservation at 6:30 in the evening and we still had to wait one hour and a half to be seated for a meal. We didn’t seem to mind that part because we were anxious to taste the food since we were going to have a party of 20 people for my daughters college graduation in May. Very disappointed in the food. My husband had the seafood stew there was no taste the clams were the size of a nickel, very small portion for the price. Ordered the cheese board 4 small samples of cheese measuring one inch long just barley a taste for 15 dollars the hummus appetizer was just thrown together The beef bourguignon literally had more pearl onions in the bowl than beef pieces of meat half inch to 1 inch and the carrots were hard. The fried oysters were the only thing that was good at this entire order besides the mango sherbet and you can not mess that up since it is out of a container. My daughter had the salmon which was fishy in taste and smell. Truly disappointed since we planned to have her college graduation dinner party here in May. I am happy I taste tested the food it saved me the embarrassment of having the dinner party there I would’ve been mortified with the food serving my family.

Took a visitor from New Zealand on her first trip to USA. Love the decor, ambience, and delicious food. We went on a busy Sunday with a lunch reservation and I didn’t like my table next to the silverware, but they were so busy, I didn’t complain. Found out later the atrium is closed for renovations. My steak salad was delicious, cooked perfectly, and I liked the raw oysters. Hard to get my server’s attention when we needed a second oyster fork, but she was otherwise terrific and personable.

Wonderful brunch! Beginning with the ladies at the desk ...we felt welcome. I asked for a booth and they said sure but it would be a little bit of a wait.

The waiter was energetic and helpful. The bloody Mary’s and eggs Benedict did not disappoint. Again, Old Ebbitt’s was a fantastic experience.

This spot was a true gem! Loved the decor and environment of the restaurant, but also truly impressed by the food. We started with the oysters, clams, and shrimp platter and the seafood was so clean and so fresh! Then for dinner we had the trout Parmesan and the cannelloni and both were absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this for any occasion!

I have wanted to eat at Old Ebbitt for many years so I was very excited to have the chance to dine there this weekend. It just wasn't what I expected from one of the oldest, well known restaurants in DC. The music was loud, ball games were blaring from the bar so people were having to talk loudly over the noise. The food was just meh but reasonably priced. The curry lentil burger had no flavor. The service and decor was great. I can now say "Been there, done that and don't need to go back."

I was a little disappointed in the 15 minute wait, even with a reservation. Brad our waiter was superb. He explained the menu, let us know how to get his attention otherwise he was not going to hover. The food was excellent. The valet service was easy and prompt. A definite place to return to.

Old Ebbitt Grill is a must for anyone visiting DC, right near the White House and steeped in tradition. It is also a restaurant that actually delivers great food, friendly waitstaff, and great ambiance. For the oyster lovers, try the Harpswell Flats. They were the most unusual and delicious oysters that I’ve tried in a while. The shells look more like a scallop shell. They are very large, briny, with a sweet finish. Delicious!

First time there, though I did have expectations - that were met - since it is part of the Clyde's group. I took my cousin and her husband for breakfast. We were all pleased with the food, the prices, the choices, the whole shebang. I definitely will be going there again for breakfast.

Great business breakfast. Jay, the waiter, was stellar. Need to try huevos rancheros. They’re deconstructured and layered like a breakfast lasagna. Chorizo at base, beans and salsa in between layers of corn tortilla, with eggs on top. Great experience.
