We know it is no fun to wear a mask while enjoying a night out, but our staff's safety is no laughing matter.
We require all guests to wear a mask while moving about the restaurant, and when speaking to Clyde's employees.
Masks have been a hot topic, with passionate views on all sides. With our team and their families' health at stake, we must err on the side of caution. We hope you will understand and look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we can all throw our masks in the trash.

The lobster tail was overcooked and inedible the fries were delicious but extremely salty. However the brown butter chocolate chip cookies were AMAZING!
We ended up eating here twice during our state in DC.
The service at this establishment is truly unmatched. I will be dreaming off their food and brown butter cookies until I can return again. Thank you for your hospitals and kindness. We truly enjoyed our experience at the Old Ebbitt Grill
Always one of my favorite stops!
Good food after a full day of visiting museums and tired feet.
The area where they’ve expanded out to help accommodate diners is still nice and quiet. Felt like a normal extension of the dinning room. Food was great. Great, friendly, service.
Solid rendering of American East Coast upscale-but-classic fare. Compare with McCormick & Schmick's. Broad enough menu to satisfy even the pickiest kids with plenty of choices for everyone else. We found everything we ordered well rendered by the kitchen, and the front-house staff was excellent. Nifty gee-gaws make the space visually compelling with busy-but-handling-it-just-fine ambiance. Recommended.
I love to eat here when I visit DC. I finally had the brunch and it was amazing.
Unbelievably delicious, clean and beautiful. Nice dim surroundings, 5 star good, great service.
The inside of this restaurant is so cute but because of Covid they’ve limited the seating in the restaurant and put tables in the office lobby. Not the same feel. Make sure to ask to be in the main restaurant if you’re worried about ambience
Great place near downtown with an excellent selection of food for all along with dessert and beverages. I would definitely recommend the Lobster Shepard's Pie!
In our opinion a "must stop" on the DC circuit...make sure you order a martini, if for no other reason than to watch with amazement as your server pours it right up to the brim, perfectly, every time...
It is exciting to dine in an historical restaurant. Service was fantastic. Food was really good but not outstanding for the price. Ambience is wonderful. Very clean.
the food here is really good, service is on point. Happy hour is good deal for oyster lover, fresh and tasty.
Great spot. May go back tonight before we leave tomorrow morning.
They placed us out of the restaurant in a hot lobby that didn’t have air conditioning.
Excellent service, delicious food!
Great as always!
Service was very friendly and efficient while the food was excellent and timely
Always great food and services in a beautiful atmosphere.
Had great service and food while visiting DC
Ambience amazing, location amazing, staff really amazing, corned beef sandwich and burger A+.... their lobster and apple crumble dessert is pure garbage. Their steak frites is like a goodyear tire, the filet mignon was good. Their menu said broccolini for the filet but i got peas. Apple pie was water soup. Really bad. Oysters Rockafeller tasted good but it was all swimming in water, barely any spinach or cheese. Better as a lunch spot than a dinner spot. And amazing old fashioned drinks. Drinks and lunch for sure. Staff is the KINDEST group of people ever.
Literally perfect! I can’t remember my servers name but he was amazing! Will be going back again! I think we found our spot!
Crab Cake dinner was delicious as well as the oysters. We had our children with us and there was slim choices for them to eat and for a "special" drink.
We started with the spinach artichoke dip and clam chowder. The dip was pretty good, but the clam chowder lacked clams. It was basically a very thick potato soup. I had the crab cakes, which our waitress stated they are known for. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed. I’ve had better elsewhere. My husband had the fries frites. The steak was cooked as he asked, but it was still ok. The best part of both of our meals were the hot French Fries. Basically I paid $110 for hot fries! 🤦🏽♀️
Not a bad experience. The food was good. Nothing special. It was lunch time so we all ordered sandwiches. I’m sure if we come back for dinner and order something more substantial the experience will different. Our server was kind but, we wanted to try this restaurant for an experience. It just didn’t add up to the hype.
Awesome dinner in this historic charm gem!! We will so be visiting again
A beautiful historic building just a block from the White House. Professional wait staff and excellent food. The weekend brunch is a highlight.
Fantastic service from Jenny, and the food was great as usual
Had reservations but was seated in a very different ambience. Noise loud due to echos. Not very relaxing.
Ambience was spectacular. Food was good but nothing to rave about. Not enough sauce on the trout. Lobster shepherds pie was just ok. My meatloaf was excellent! Our waitress was very very good but despite my noting on the reservation that it was my wife's 60th birthday and also reminding the waitress about this, she didn't offer or provide any type of celebratory dessert, such as a a simple cupcake with a candle or something like that. Not a huge thing but a little disappointing.
I grew up in DC and went with my parents to Ebbits Grill.
We live now on Cape Cod and visited Washington for a number of days. Always loved The Ebbits grill.
Everything about it is perfection.
Amazing time. The ambience was greatly for a quick lunch gathering
Old Ebbitt was an excellent recommendation for a casual dinner in the city with our two young daughters. Really great service, food was good and prepared well, drinks were well executed. One critique....our oyster selection was not indicated upon table placement and runner needed to go back to kitchen to get information. It didn’t seem like he was even prepared to give that information which is always given when multiple selection of oysters are ordered. I wouldn’t let that minor detail detour us from going back. George & Amal was delicious drink!
Thoughtfully seasonable menu. Management handled an issue during dining fairly well.
Old Ebbit Grill has been a great place to dine for me and my family for decades Great food, service, and ambience — it will take more than a pandemic to make this DC restaurant stumble.
Food was great? Service a little slow, waited a while for drinks. One of my favorite restaurants in DC.
