Rainy day in DC. Open Table to rescue as said 1 45 wait and found table in 15 minutes. So lucky and the best you food service and ambiance in DC. Always special here A I con worth what ever wait
Too expensive with small portions and felt very rushed which killed the mood for the occasion
It was great!
Wonderful meal! We visit every time we are in DC. One of our favorites.
Great environment. Great food. Great Service. Will be back next time when visiting DC.
A true Washington gem. A must dine experience
Everything was amazing. It’s worth going early for happy hour on the oysters.
Wonderful experience and a true historic restaurant with real people who honor their employees as family . Will return as soon as possible.
Old DC "institution," always packed. First time here. Nice pour on the Scotch, restaurant week meatloaf creative and "fluffy." Salad not brown, not overly dressed, good ingredients. Buddy's chicken good size and juicy. Glass of vino (house Cab Sav), drinkable and again, decent pour. Good, timely service. Didn't like the moderately tight tables, but everything else made up for it. Solid bang for the buck. Will return.
One of our favorite restaurants to visit when in DC!
At lunch yesterday the main dining room glowed with cheerful waiters and happy clientele, and my restaurant week meal came lovely in every way: presentation, taste, and value. Starting off with clam chowder, I believed the best must already be over as I finished its tasty last drops. But soon the main course arrived -- a pot of gorgeous mussels and hand-cut fries with fresh, warm bread for soaking up the broth! Then, perfectly timed, my slice of cheesecake appeared. Topped with sour cherry sauce and whipped cream, this dessert was so tempting that even the diners at the table next to me couldn't help but smile. True to form, the Grill's superlative staff, excellent food and welcoming comfort coalesced as always into a first-rate dining experience.
Great service ; oyster appetizer was delicious, clam chowder very tasty , chicken was perfect, creme brûlée and cheesecake desserts were fantastic. Great ambience
Nice ambiance, very good location. Arrancini, clam chowder soup, fish and mussels are very tasty.
Asked for a quiet table and it was perfect, though the dining room is noisy anyway, so this was less so. Food was excellent, served promptly, great waiter, wonderful experience. This is our second trip during restaurant week and they do a fabulous job... no compromises on portion size or attention to detail.
Old-fashioned charm in a time-tested location, Old Ebbitt Grill should be on everyone's bucket list!
All 3 of us enjoyed the Filet and it was delicious. Only issue was sliding in and out of velour covered booth... was like Velcro on the pants😜
While visiting DC we ate at the bar one afternoon - enjoyed mussels and pulled pork sandwich - then came back the next day for a late dinner of delicious crab cake and yummy rockfish. Both times, service was attentive without being overbearing - perfect. Delicious cocktails too!
Menu and wine selections were outstanding. The service though seemed very rushed. Our order was served within 10-15 minutes of sitting down. It came just after our wine was served. It seemed like they were trying to move people through. I do not remember this on the many previous occasions we have eaten there.
Delicious food, great part of DC. If you get there before 6, oysters are half off. We will return!
This was a HUGE disappointment. The service was awful, the food was not great, no one liked their meals, the service was terrible. Our waiter had no idea about customer service. I had been looking forward to taking my family there for the first time and unfortunately will never go back.
Had another excellent meal at Old Ebbitt, one of my favorite spots for a late afternoon lunch. Not being brunch fans, we made reservations for 4:00 and were promptly seated in a booth. Service was excellent, with regular non-obtrusive attention to refill water, discuss menu options, and check-ins on food. Our server was very well informed, polished, and welcoming. Since we happened to be there during happy hour for oysters, I took advantage of the 1/2 price on a half dozen. Delicious, and super fresh. We also had some of the best cocktails in our recent experience. I ordered the Alma de Pina, a very tasty mezcal, tequila and jalapeno concoction while my husband had the Campari Cognac Crush, which was also fresh and wonderfully drinkable. Despite being lured by some of the other dishes on the menu, I went with the lump crab cake and, as usual, absolutely loved it. My husband had the scallops and noted that they were perfectly prepared. He also enjoyed the kale and cauliflower side. We shared a perfectly sized (for 2) crème brulee to top off a great meal.
Great institution but the service is not up to standards during brunch. Food is always good though.
Wonderful food and service.
Love this place!! Tables can be a little close but the food is amazing and service is always great
FANTASTIC experience. Great food and VERY
Reasonably priced !!!
The food was so well prepared. Every bite was delicious.
If you are looking for a consistently excellent dining experience, this is the place to go ! Service, food; and service is always top notch! This most recent visit was Saturday brunch...
It was ok -- guess we shouldn't have high expectations. I rarely give negative feedback.
When we visit DC this is always on my ‘to do list’ for dining experiences. Love the Old Ebbitt.
Amazing everything we heard it was
Did not see on line that valet parking didn’t begin until 6:00.
And, seated near the bar was loud!
Not much at all for non sea food people and servers were rushing to flip tables
Fantastic. A classic that delivers every time. Exceptional, seamless, service. Best in town.
This is our “go to” place after concerts. It never disappoints. Never had anything off the menu that wasn’t superb but the crab cakes are some of THE BEST ever. You will not be disappointed.
It was a great experience. Staff was amazing and prices were reasonable. Only downside was some other guests who were quite loud. We were seated next to two woman who were looking at naked photos which was a bit awkward and uncomfortable. Additionally the tables we were at were very close together. Made it hard for a pregnant person to get in and out even while only being 5 months along.
Everything about the dining experience was very positive
Great place to experience Washington DC flare.
Scallops were exceptional! Crab and artichoke dip is delicious! Great service!
We were visiting from Texas while our son is doing a medical fellowship in DC. We wanted a fun, nice place to celebrate our anniversary and made a reservation at Old Ebbitt Grill. We loved the decor (old school, clubby, elegant); the energy (people of all ages, lots of lively conversations going on, some in suits, some in nice casual clothes); our server was attentive and quick; the food and drinks (excellent... LOVED the oysters Rockefeller and my Shrimp Fra Diavolo.) Prices were very fair. Highest recommendation!
We really enjoyed our lunch at Old Ebbit. It is not very expensive for Washington DC, but you also get to dine in an amazing establishment with excellent service and lots of history. We liked it so much, we came back for brunch!
Crab cake Bene is absolutely delicious! Excellent service!
