Oysters on the half shell were delicious! As well as the bay scallops and mussels fra diavolo! Service was wonderful too!
Had asked for a seat in main dining room and hostess put us in a back room. A kind waiter say I was not happy and found us a great table out in the main dining room and kept checking to make sure everything was fine. Also brought a free dessert for our anniversary. Way to go above and beyond. Hostess needs to be trained as well as the waiter to accommodate guests
Great time. Very busy, as always, but the staff is exceptionally profesional and gracious. Food was excellent.
Great selection of dishes which accomodates many food wants/needs. The oyster happy hour is the best!
And the service always makes one feel special.
Thanks for another lovely meal.
A year ago, a local recommended Old Ebbitt Grill at a random bar and grill. This time in DC, I decided to try it, and boy was it worth the effort. The grilled artichoke and caprese salads were fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated. I'm not even vegetarian, but I couldn't resist the descriptions and I am so glad I went for it. My server was attentive, but not overly intrusive and the ambiance was absolutely beautiful. Prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area.
Special interest for our grandkids. Excellent service. Awesome food. Perfect lunch.
It was the perfect environment for a farewell lunch for an employees last lunch with the team.
Great food and atmosphere! Be sure to schedule a reservation in advance. It books fast! Very reasonably priced also.
Best burger I ever had! Also had crab cakes and ribs. Ribs being our favorite.
Too noisy to carry on a conversation
Food was great, ambience was lively and classic. We'll be back!
Disappointed this time. We were seated next to the servers area, with silverware and glasses of water. Poor seating.
I was with an important guest from the whitehouse and we were seated at the worse table in the restaurant.
Prior to my guest arriving I asked the hostest for a nice booth. I arrived 30 minutes in advanced and asked her for her help.
Normally this place is a bit louder, but I was in a quiet section. The food was over-the-top good, and the waitress was one of the best I've ever had. Will definitely return.
Wonderful experience as always. Ambiance and food cannot be beat.
We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill. It's an iconic DC bar and restaurant with a good menu and creative drinks. I accidentally left my credit card at the restaurant, but the waiter put it in the safe until I returned to pick it up. I appreciated that level of customer service!
It was fine, we had to wait 20 min for a table, even tho we had a reservation. Staff was friendly, but a little disorganized. Jambalaya was odd, it was dry, no sauce. Wasn’t really jambalaya, Wouldn’t order again.
We had been a couple of times before, and this time we came for restaurant week. The Menu was ok and the portions really big. The tomato salad was a little sad, clam chowder was nice and filling. The mussels with pasta were a huge portion as well as the meatloaf. Creme brûlée was nice and I loved the peach dessert. Very nice that they include a glass of wine with the $35 menu.
Old Ebbitt Grill is a staple of DC and you feel like you are walking back into time! The atmosphere is busy, vibrant and energetic which leads to a fun night. The drinks are amazing and Hannah made the best Cosmopolitan I've ever had (and I've had a few)!!! She made our trip worthwhile. The food was delicious, service fantastic and an overall great experience. It does get very busy so make reservations!
The food and service is always exceptional at Old Ebbitt Grill. They literally have the best burgers. We always have a great time.
Server was awful, legitimately screwed up every single table’s food or drink within 5 tables of us, our drinks were totally randomly chosen not anything close to what we ordered or even sounded like what we ordered, bill was never adjusted, he was MIA the entire meal. Food an ambience were average, for a place that is kind of a tourist “must-stop” it’s lacking in every category
Great history! Great crab cakes!
Three of us had a wonderful brunch at the Old Ebbitt Grill. From the starters to the main we had wonderful looking and tasting food. And to make it even better, our server was terrific. We shared a glorious summer tomato mozzarella salad that was delicious. X
Although the service was not on par (had to ask the hostess for water, no spoon to stir coffee, had to get up & find a knife) the ambiance is always the best. Brunch menu very good.
We had to wait 45 minutes for our food because our tickets got mixed up, or the computer messed up... I'm not really sure what actually happened because we got different excuses from different waiters. Food was okay, not great. Certainly had better food with greater portions for less money and better service at other establishments. I'm afraid this restaurant has suffered from its popularity diluting the unique allure the Old Ebbitt Grill once boasted as its claim to fame. I probably won't be back.
Service was very good!
Great oysters!!! Happy hour 50% off oysters and shrimp cocktail. Can’t beat that. Service was excellent. Place was lively. Cocktails were properly prepared. I’ll be back.
Great service and delicious food! Will definitely return when we show friends and family around DC next time.
Old Ebbitt Grill is the best restaurant I have been to!!! Everything from the appetizers to the desserts are fantastic. The quality ingredients that are expertly cooked is such a joy to experience. I appreciate the conscious choice to make items in house like their fresh pasta. Homemade makes the difference!! I make a point to stop there whenever I am in DC. You haven’t eaten until you eat at Old Ebbitt Grill.
Wonderful food and ambiance. Great deal for restaurant week too!
Old Ebbitt Grill has always been a favorite of ours. Whenever we eat there, we always walk away saying how delicious everything was. We usually go here for dinner, but today was the first time we went for brunch. The french toast was sweet and savory! The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was delightful. We loved it!
Ronnie was a great server! Food was amazing! Brunch including key lime pie was wonderful.
It was a Great time! We always enjoy our time at Old Ebbitt
My boyfriend and I both loved Old Ebbitt Grill! I had the blue catfish and my boyfriend had the trout! They were both very delicious dishes!! Our waitress was very kind as well!! All types of dress attire is welcomed!(:
Very attentive service, nice ambiance and the food was incredible. Made for a very nice date night.
Food was great, insanely busy. Friday night during restaurant week. Servers were slammed all night.
Amazing! Favorite restaurant in DC.
We had calamari for appetizers and they were crispy and really good. The kids loved them. My hubby abs I shared half s dozen oysters and try were fresh and a good size. We had the meatloaf, crab cakes, and chicken. Al dishes were excellent. My daughter did not care for the Swiss chard on her meatloaf as it was more bitter than spinach but the rest of the meal was excellent. The crab cakes were great and not overbreaded. Dessert was creams brûlée and peanut butter pie. The pie was a hit with everyone.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed eating at the grill!! We were vacationing in DC for 3 days and ate there twice! I think that speaks for itself. I would highly recommend this restaurant from all aspects that I like to find, such as hearty salads and some vegan choices...hearty to light, our friends as well as my husband and myself were delighted.
Always a stop while in DC! Best experience, best food, best service!
Went to Old Ebbitt Grill for lunch on a family vacation to DC. Food was great and flavorful. Portions were standard size, apps are recommended if your hungry. Only critique is their beer menu is on the lighter side (I.e. not many selections and primarily light beers).
Great American food with a diverse menu
