Old Crow Smokehouse - River North
Late night menu 11:00 pm-1:00am Wednesday-Saturday
Service was fantastic and the food was so good we returned Sunday for lunch!
The only negative is that the music was way way too loud.
It was promoted as a place to watch the World Cup so we reserved a table. At halftime, the restaurants shut off the sound for the game and had nightclub music blaring at a level where you couldn't even talk. We asked them to switch it back off so we could watch the game when the second half started but they wouldn't. This was at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon! We had to scramble to pay our bill and find another place to watch the rest of the game. Just awful.
Way too loud!!! Music cranked up so high everyone was shouting at each other to have a conversation..not necessary.
Waited a little longer than anticipated to be helped when first arriving but overall great food, drinks and atmosphere for a night out!
Recommend but pretty loud especially with live music in evening, but good food and good service
Overall good experience. We went at a slow time and the restaurant was quite and empty. The food was good for barbecue food. Our server was nice and was helpful. We spent a long time there and was a great place to watch a game and have food. The drinks looked great and I want to go back and try the specialty drinks.
The food was just okay. I would recommend it to someone looking for a smoked BBQ place. But our meal was inconsistent. One pulled pork sandwich was fine. Brisket also fine. Two got burnt ends. One plate was virtually inedible. Completely dry and hard. It was as if it had been reheated from earlier. Did not taste fresh. Sides were average. Pass on dessert -- not worth it. The drinks were good -- Strawberry Hoedown was loved by everyone.
I love live music. But the music was too loud. We couldn’t have a conversation and we sat about as far away from the band as we could for that reason. Food was average and service was below average.
It was so loud we could barely have conversation, probably more of a drinking place than a dinner place.
Very enjoyable. Music a little loud for 430, and older foljs
Fun noisy place / cornbread very good / green beans good / ribs good taste tiny bit dry but 7/10 of “perfect”/ great place / would go back
Memphis Tacos where Phenomenal, cocktails were on point, and our waitress was very attentive
This was my second visit and it was just as fun as the first. Great atmosphere and great food!
Food and drinks are decent, but the service is absolutely terrible.
Bad service... Waitress chatting on a table next to ours, instead of see us calling. More than 3 times... They have a hard time working with separate checks. It a problem for big parties.
Good news/Bad news. All of our food was lukewarm upon arrival. Mac and cheese was barely warm. Being very hungry we dove in anyway. Good news was that the flavors were very good. Mac and cheese, brisket, sausage, chicken, all very tasty. Reported temperature issue to server just to alert the kitchen. Manager came to table to apologize and did offer a discount. Nice gesture.
If you want to try something a little different this is the place. Great food and good music. Will definitely return.
Fun location, setup and music. Great food and portion size for the price.
When you come here you have to expect noise, especially with having a live band. We loved it! Awesome food, the drinks came a little slower however our waitress was very kind and had quite a few other tables.
The food needs to be improved.
The cooks need to be improved.
Service needs to be improved.
Drinks need to be replenished and fountain drinks filled.
The prices need to be lowered for portion sizes. Portions were very small.
Food was delivered cold.
No refills offered. Drinks were not normal- no syrup in soda fountains.
Old standing ice tea- tasted bad.
Cold in restaurant.
Pre-Blackhawks dinner and drinks with friends. Great food and wait staff.
The place was empty on Sunday night. I stood at the hostess stand for over 3 minutes while they talked to the bartender and kept looking at me. Once they finally sat me, they were out of 2 beers on tap and the food I received was overcooked and cold. After a long day of traveling from LA - I wanted a comforting meal to relax. This definitely wasn't what I received.
Great would take clients there again in the future
The ambiance was great but the food was anything but. Ordered the combination plate to try and share with the table. Ribs were way overdone, brisket was extremely dry and pulled pork was nothing special and on the dry side. The beer can chicken was moist but on the verge of not being cooked. @ at the table wouldn't try due to pink and red around the bones. Was hoping for a great BBQ due to pit master but was extremely disappointed and will probably only come back to hear music on the weekends but definitely not to eat dinner.
We booked for my birthday for 12 and they were not open. Embarassing!
Great food, nice beer list, live karaoke was actually hilarious and entertaining to watch. The smoked and grilled salmon was surprisingly excellent and the sausage corn dogs were ridiculously good. Will go back again soon.
It was good food - cornbread a little too sweet - but still good. LOVED being able to see my check and pay all in the app!
We went there to see Ty Bates perform on Saturday night. We went early so we could try out the Old Crow Smokehouse's food offerings. We each had the pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw, and it was all totally delicious !! Our server was very good and took exceptionally good care of us at all times. We finished with a piece of the S'mores pie, which was outstanding ! We then moved up to a table in front of the stage area to see Ty Bates' show. He was outstanding too, as usual (we've known him for over four years now). The whole evening was definitely worth the trip to Chicago, and we'll be back again for sure !! Thank you for everything !!
The high point was the service, which was attentive, very pleasant and helpful - - especially when my luncheon partner was served the wrong meal. The food, however, was awful, with the exception of the French fries. We probably should have reconsidered dining here when we saw that only a very small handful of tables in this huge restaurant were occupied at noon time.
We visited Old Crow for a Business Happy Hour. The server was very attentive and it was easy to order shareable for a large group. The food was good and the energy of the restaurant was high.
Excellent service. The food was exactly what we hoped for, generous portions, and tasty. The noise level everyone seems to complain about wasn't an issue as we sat outside, but inside didn't seem loud either.
We were in town for a conference. Went with a party of 7. Was a slow weekday night - but the music was loud. It was very hard to hear people at our in table. After taking our order the waitress had to come back to the table to ask one of our party members if he had ordered his meal! They forgot our appetizers, and brought us our meal. When we questioned it, she said she would check, but never came back with food or update. She then brought them out to us in to-go boxes after we finished our meals! Rarely did she check in on us for drink refills or ask how the food was. Most of the table said their food was good. I thought my ribs were a bit dry. She went around the table taking dessert orders and forgot someone completely. This was our first and last time there. Which is too bad bc it had a cool vibe to it. 👎
Old Crow really surprised me. The food was delicious. I was skeptical after reading mixed reviews, but it was all tasty and the value is unbelievable! Service leaves a little something to be desired as I feel its pretty inattentive--even when the bar was completely dead-- the servers seemed more focused on socializing than serving. The food was so good that I'd definitely go back! Its a very nice place with live music and clean bathrooms. Also, sitting outside on the patio is great for people watching!
Very disappointed in our visit to this Old Crow last weekend. Not at all crowded but service was slow and relatively inattentive. Had to send waiter back to find one of our orders twice as most were well into their meal before the last entree came out. Much prefer the Old Crow on Clark St near Wrigley
Food was good overall with the burnt ends being a stand out. Bacon had a good flavor although I would have preferred it a little crispier. Service was good, but not as attentive as I would have liked. The building is very cool. Music was too loud for a Sunday afternoon.
Everything was wonderful, including the service, and I loved the live music, but it was very loud. Difficult to talk to people.
Great place for live music, comfort food and good drinks. The only downside we had on our visit was the slow service. Our server was good and perhaps the place was understaffed that evening. It seemed to take a while for anyone to get to us after we did our original order. Our food and drinks came out almost immediately after ordering them, but we did not have any follow up check ends after that.
Great food and experience
Steve the manager is the man.
