Excellent waiter, outstanding food
We had a great time for our spring break fam dinner and it was super enjoyable.
The blue crab bisque was unbelievable. The curry gulf snapper was delicious. Views are awesome.. Highly recommend.
Portions skimpy. Price high Quality not as I remembered. Sad
Great service. Food has improved with newer culinary staffing than years ago but with prices to match but still worth the splurge. Entertained family from Texas and they even enjoyed the special gumbo soup
Birthday dinner, great food, really large portions
Excellent food and service. Tempting to partake of too much wonderful fresh-baked bread at the start- be careful!
We stayed on Captiva for a week, about half way through our stay I met a fellow from Michigan at the ice cream store in Captiva, he actually recommended going to Captiva House, and it was perfect, every single aspect from food to ambiance to service, even mother nature supplied a wonderful view with a stunning sunset from our table. I would recommend Captiva house to anyone that would like a superb dinner and perfect ambiance. We will return the next time we come back.
The food and service was very good. It was the best food we have had on Captiva. The Bubble Room and the Mucky Duck have terrible food. The Mexican restaurant has good take out. Doc Ford is fun and the food is ok.
Disappointing. Blue crab bisque soup was cold, not once but twice. Filet was flavorless. Tuna was average. Service started out great but fizzled. Wine menu was ok but not great. Lack of ambience ~~~ restaurant was empty in March (our reservation was at 7 p.m.)!!! Bathroom was very dirty.
This is a lovely restaurant with windows all around a beautiful dining room and a warm, relaxing ambiance. The garden salad was a generous array of fresh vegetables, and the spaghetti with clams was a wonderful dish. The atmosphere is refined yet casual. Excellent service. On trips to Captiva, this will be first on the list for dinner.
Excellent food and service
We arrived looking forward to a great meal, but shame on us, we had overdone the appetizers at our vacation home and were not particularly hungry. We expressed this to our server (Jen was her name, I believe -- delightful!) who suggested some dishes on the lighter side and sharing, which is what we did. It was perfect for us. We dined outside and while the night was chilly, the heaters kept us very comfortable. A wonderful experience and we will return.
#1 on Captiva
The building itself needs work, as it is old and not having been well maintained.
It had been two years since we dined there and were disappointed. The quality of the food was not as good as we remembered and the service was very slow for not may people being in the dining room.
Took my husband here for his birthday. The hostess was the most attentive. Waiter was too busy with other tables. Salad was good, entrees had a bit too much sauce but maybe that’s the way it is down here. Went to Il Cielo last night - great meal and service
We vacation on Sanibel every year and always include Captiva House on our dining list. We were there with friends and had a lovely evening. Ray was our waiter and very friendly and attentive. The food is always lovely.
We could not have asked for a better experience. Our waiter Ray was great, and helped us with menu selection. He was fun. The scallop appetizer was exceptional. The Chilean sea bass was cooked to perfection. Two in our party had the special: swordfish with beet risotto. Everyone raved about the complex flavors. This will be a memory we will talk about for years. I cannot give any higher praise. Thank you, Captiva House!
From the outdoor seating, to the appetizers and entree everything was perfect. Local seafood is outstanding but so is the fillet. Cooked to the right temp and seasoned well. Service was professional and unobtrusive. So good we returned two nights later!
We enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends at Captiva House. The food was outstanding. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was a refreshing slice of classic, old Florida. Would definitely recommend!
Dana took great care of us and my wife enjoyed the scallops and Australian wine and I enjoyed my dinner too. We had too much and had to pass on dessert. We had a great view of the sunset on the Gulf.
Crab bisque was very good. Food was very good overall. Service was nice. Enjoyed the outdoor area. Not many French wines on the wine list. Menu had good variety. A bit expensive.
We ate outside, what a charming atmosphere. Great food and wonderful waitstaff. It was worth the long drive there!
Good apetetizers - duck roll and the baked oysters. Disappointing mains - grouper, snapper and tuna... service lacked warmth and authenticity but was efficiently executed. Parking sucked.
Not sure this was an off night but all in all it didn’t represent good value and would not return.
Perfect all around. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Ray was an excellent server. Thanks for a relaxing evening!!
The food and the service was wonderful. The ahi tuna with coconut rice was delicious as was the crab, lobster crusted whitefish over a potato croquette.
The four of us agreed that the entire evening was perfect from beginning to end. Our appetizers, salads and entrees and desserts were excellent as was the service. We appreciated the manager coming over to ask about our meals. The weather that evening was beautiful so we enjoyed our meal on the porch ~ even had a glimpse of the gorgeous sunset. A treat for us all!
Definitely my favorite place on the island. We went for breakfast and dinner, was outstanding both times. Will will be coming back for sure next time we vacation here
Great to be able to sit outside on 2/16. Warmer outdoors than in restaurant. Red curry snapper was great and not something u see everywhere
First time at the Captiva House, after hearing good things about it. The decor etc. was very quaint and island-like. Drinks were good, first course (stone clams and lobster bisque) were good. However, our server, Eric, was not attentive at all. He may have had too many tables to tend to, as he was both inside and outside waiting on tables. Seemed he just forgot about us. After the first course, about an hour went by before anything else was brought to the table. And then it was our entree. He totally forgot about our salads, which according to the menu were to be the first course. He took the entrees back, and brought them later. We both had the grouper. My husbands was fine, mine however was not fully cooked and very rubbery. I told him about it when he checked back, and he apologized and later removed my entree from our bill. I just shared my husband's entree. We were there probably two hours, most of that time just waiting on our meal courses. He didn't even apologize for the delay or check back on drink orders etc. We had him box up the dessert, which we had at home. They were good, but nothing to brag about. We were so looking forward to this restaurant on Valentines' Day, but obviously were dissappointed. Not sure if I will come back or not.
Outstanding night. The only 4 Star was due to the temperature opposite the gift shop. Very cold. Air was not in sync with this area. A few tables moved around us as a result!
Well, I messed up the time of my reservation and didn’t know until I showed up - on Valentines Day!!!! Not only were they gracious, but fit us in. Fixed menu, but the food was great. FULL restaurant, but the service was great. They even comped us a glass of wine they - not us- thought took too long to reach us. Won me over, I will be back!
Probably our 10th visit to Captiva House. Every time we have a great experience with ambience, service and food. Can't wait to go back
It was average, nothing stood out.
Captiva House is a definite "go to" if you are on the West End of Sanibel or on Captiva. The food is solid, the restaurant is quiet and can be romantic. And, after dinner you can stop into the Crows Nest Bar to check out the live music and have an after dinner drink! Good place if you are on vacation or if you are locals like us and have people visiting!
The best meal I had while in Santibel/Captiva!!! Bar none!
Great Birthday celebration! Service & food was
terrific! Eric, our waiter was outstanding.
Desserts were fabulous.
We loved our dinner and breakfast . The food is so good. The staff is very friendly. We would come back.
While we would have rather been seated on the patio (should have requested it when making reservations) the side room where we were seated was lovely. The service was perfect.
