This respect, for past and present, makes Olamaie a successful reincarnation of fine Southern food.
What Insiders Are Saying
Olamaie is one of the most impressive upscale Southern restaurants we've ever experienced.
Food is ok. We ordered pork and red snapper. Both are very dry a bit salty.
We came in for our anniversary and had an amazing experience. The staff greeted us with “happy anniversary” and champagne which was a nice touch. Get the filet and the pork, oh boy!!
I have eaten at many fine dining establishments over the years. Olamaie is pretentious and thinks way too highly of itself. Every food item I had was over-salted. Prices are way too high for the quality of food received. My service was great. But I could not recommend this place to anyone nor will I be going back.
The service was out if this world. We just wished the food matched the service. We expected more considering the price and atmosphere.
The service was pretentious, the food was salty and so last year.
Outstanding southern food. Outstanding chef, outstanding staff, they are so coordinated that seeing them looks like watching a perfect symphony.
Lauren, was an incredible server.
Thank you. See you next year!
The food was wonderful, attentive servers just wish it were more affordable. We will be back, but not as soon as we'd like.
Delicious and carefully thought out food! Cocktails were amazing and those dessert cocktails were so delicate and tasty!!
We love Olamaie's food and experience. It's a great place for date or business dinner.
The restaurant is lovely. The food is delicious. The service was impeccable.
But the noise level was very distracting.
Wait for warm weather and request a table on the patio.
Amazing biscuits!! Fusion of flavors, truly an excellent meal.
My new favorite restaurant. It’s perfect. I live in Dallas, but I’ll drive to Austin soon for another feast. Oh, those biscuits!
Loved loved loved it, everything about! Especially our waiter!!
The food and service were excellent.
Amazing! Our favorite meal in Austin thus far!! Will definitely be back.
Really standout food. I understand why this place has such a great reputation. Service was excellent and the food was really superb -- a fine mix of unusual and familiar and just so tasty.
Delicious and excellent service. I fell in love with a biscuit at first taste!
The service was great, our table was ready at the time of our reservation and the ambiance was soothing. The biscuits with salted honey butter were as great as everyone said they'd be.
The meal at Olamaie was one if not the best I've had since moving to Austin almost four years ago. I've passed by the restaurant several times and have admired the cute house, but was very surprised by the inviting interior. There is a lovely porch area when the weather permits through which I entered the lounge area. The lounge is an intimate space to enjoy one of their curated cocktails. Don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy one of those creations. The service was impeccable and the presentation divine, but the best part truly was the meal which defies description. All I can say, Olamaie is a must for any food loving human. Bonus - free valet parking.
As out-of-towners celebrating an anniversary and a promotion, we were hoping for a great, unique, and memorable way to celebrate. We were greeted with a “happy anniversary” note, some champagne, and felt cared for the whole night. We loved our meals (chicken and the pork chops), but the sweet potato pone was the favorite thing we had. The biscuits are great, too, and we loved the angel food cake dessert.
The food was absolutely fantastic at Olamaie - easily one of the best meals I've had in Austin (if not the best). Everything was perfectly cooked, wonderfully seasoned, and simply well prepared. I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for a wonderful fine dining experience in Austin.
The venue is small and cute, with a modern minimal sensibility with beautiful gray tones contrasted with colorful paintings. While we did not sit outside, that deck area was just as spacious and inviting as the interior, and I'd love to return and eat one evening outside.
If there were things to be improved, I'd say that the service was a little slower than I would have liked - food did take some time to arrive, and was slightly cooler than I would have preferred. Additionally, while this is a minor complaint, I think it should be stated to customers that the biscuits (one of Olamaie's claims to fame) are not complimentary, and each order will add to the bill. (Of course they are ABSOLUTELY worth it!)
Still, those quibbles aside, Olamaie has definitely earned and deserves recognition as one of the finest restaurants in Austin.
Lovely meal and the staff was super attentive! Would definitely recommend for anyone in Austin who wants something beyond barbecue and tacos.
The menu, attention to detail, and hospitality are what every son of the Ozarks learned to love from his momma and grandma, but didn't have a word for to help others understand it. "Olamaie..."
They never disappoint. Exceptional evening.
The brined pork chop was delicious
The biscuits are amazing! The service was great and the food even better. We got the pork chop and it was delicious
My favorite in Austin. Southern eligance
with flavors from home. I’m a native North Carolinian. Thanks for making me smile.
Olamaie continues to operate at an extremely high level. All aspects of service and culinary execution are clicking. The space remains impeccable yet cozy. Our cocktails were balanced and delicious. The biscuits are always incredible. Additionally, the cabbage, shrimp and tenderloin dishes stood out. Can’t wait to come back.
Very good. The main dish was decent, but the biscuits were amazing.
Incredible service, and food to match. Felt well cared for and catered to without the stuffy or pretentious atmosphere. Wonderfully unique take on southern cuisine, would absolutely recommend to anyone traveling to Austin!
This place is always solid and definitely a crowd pleaser. We had a group of 8 and they had a lovely area by the kitchen that provided a nice semi-private section just for us. Order the biscuits.
Very romantic and quiet place-delicious food and helpful, friendly staff. In a quiet old house.
Loved the atmosphere and the service was top notch. We're trying new places and happy to have tried Olamaie. Different food selections than most restaurants. All good~
This place was amazing. The food was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. I enjoyed my dinner here and definitely recommend this place.
Great experience! Our waiter was the house SOM, very nice but definitely a cork dork. As a server he lacked in personality and should probably stick to serving wine only!
Visited for our early Valentine’s Day. It was romantic and cozy. All the food was beautiful and delicious. Our favorites were appetizers: Crab Rice, entrees: Pork Chop and dessert: Angel Food cake. The service was superb in every way. We loved our Early Valentines Day celebration!
Third visit since their opening. They never disappoint. Impeccable service, amazing food, always an evening to remember.
Olamaie - a small upscale dinner restaurant where an epicurean treat awaits. The daily menu is farm to table fresh and imaginative. There is a selection of small plates and entrée-size dinners. It is easy to mix and augment the entrees with small plates. There is a superb selection of craft cocktails as well as an excellent wine list. A great place for a special occasion, but always for an excellent dinner!
This is usually my hands down favorite restaurant. I think it can run circles around any of the top New Orleans restaurants, but this past visit I thought the food was just ok. $16 for simple bland hush puppies was silly. We just weren’t floored as we usually are.
Delicious cocktails but a very limited food menu. Terribly overpriced, overly salty food with poor side items. Will not go back.
