We were a big table of friends celebrating Thanksgiving. We’ve been to Olas for holiday buffet before and we’re a bit disappointed at the uninspired menu this time. I don’t eat meat and most food had chorizo and meat. There was not a single fish dish on the menu except for some rice. My invitees complained also at the lack of traditional staples like stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans or yams. We know this is a creative buffet menu but there was not even some version of these Thanksgiving musts. Service was good but very, very slow. Maybe the server/client ratio was off, especially when ordering drinks or wine. I don’t appreciate also that although they include gratuity in the bill, they bring you the check with the gratuity line empty to fool you into thinking it has not been added. As a former restaurant owner, I appalled at this not so uncommon practice. Quite tacky from the Vanderbilt, especially for buffet service. Will reconsider next holiday meal here.

Good breakfast. Omelette station, baked goods, a variety of fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, homemade oatmeal, and homemade granola.

The service was fast and there is indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views right next to the pool and ocean. The staff was kid friendly.

My only complaint is the a la cart prices in the afternoon, which are ridiculous. $25 for a salad. NYC is cheaper.

We went for our anniversary during the low season on a Sunday and we knew it might be slow, but the sound of the ocean and the amazing service and food are exceptional at Ola.

My best friend and her husband were visiting PR and I chose Olas to meet from brunch because it was located near her hotel and I personally love the hotel and its view of the ocean. I also chose this particular spot because they accept reservations and I wanted our lunch to be perfect. I was seated right away and the table inside had the perfect view of the ocean. We chose the unlimited mimosas which were served with a choice of juice, and I have to say they kept our glasses full. And that is were the good news stop... the food options were very limited considering the price ($38/person). There were no seafood/fish options, no smoked salmon/shimp/fish, this was a dissapointment as my friend is mostly vegetarian but eats fish, eggs and cheese. There were two salads, but not a full salad bar. The omellette station was outside, and it very crowded. The same person serving the paella was in charge of the omelette station. The place was packed and there was a long wait. My friend is spanish, and we agreed the ‘paella’ was an ‘arroz con pollo with chickpeas’... no a paella. The hot dishes included bacon, a root vegetable mash, a pork loin (it was delicious but they ran out before 2:00! And substituted with grilled chicken breast which seemed to be pre-cooked). There also had mini pancakes and waffles, they weren’t in the proper serving dish so the ones on top were dry. Only 2 cheeses were offered and some cold cuts (ham and turkey, no prosciutto). There were plenty bread options (that none of us had) and desserts. But overall while the venue is beautiful, it is not a good value for what you pay. There are many beautiful places in PR for brunch for a more reasonable price with food options for everyone. If you want to visit the Vanderbilt, I recommend 1919 for dinner, pricey but offers a unique culinary experience.

Ola is always a great experience. Regardless of the event, the ambiance is great and the service is top notch. Brunch is the best for the price of the buffet and the endless mimosas.

The restaurant was okay but is very expensive. I ordered the vegetarian pumpkin dish. I asked the waitress to explain it. She did and never mentioned the dish was served cold. I wasn't sure, so I asked another server who explained that yes it was served cold. Also, the outside seating area is by the pool, I think it is better for lunch.

The importance of being E(a)rnest. Ola was our favorite brunch in San Juan and the ocean view in the main dinning room is spectacular. The quality of the food, the fresh ingredients and the service is usually good. On May 2nd I made a reservation for Mother's Day at 1:45 PM to take my wife and daughter to celebrate the special occasion. On May 9th at 11AM I got a phone call from the restaurant to confirm the reservation and asking for my preference of a table. I asked for a table with ocean view, INSIDE. That Saturday my wife went to the hair saloon and picked a nice outift at home. On Sunday we got to the restaurant on time, around 1:35 PM we checked in. There were 2 small groups of guests asking for a table but who didn't have reservations. We waited until past 2PM when we finally got called, but when we followed the hsotess the table was outside. I told her that I had asked for a table inside, with the ocean view, and she said the table outside was the one with the view, when as a matter of fact those tables only have a clear view of the pool, not the ocean. She went to check with her colleagues, but they would not honor our request, and told us to wait in case something "opened up", which I found outrageous after having made a reservation with almost 2 weeks in advance. So given the disdain shown, I asked for my valet parking ticket to be validated so we could leave. At that point one of the managers, named Ernest, came to the rescue. he was friendly and willing to go the extra mile for the customer, as it should be at a fine hotel like the Vanderbilt. We waited a few minutes bu the found us a nice table. He found us a good server and checked up on us from time to time. We enjoyed the eggs benedict station, the paella, the truffle Mac & Cheese and the Local “Butifarra” Farm Sausage. Ernest even made me cup of expresso! If it wasn't for him, the day would have been ruined. As long as you run into Ernest and people like him, we recommend Ola.

The restaurant was pretty empty. We sat outside to be able to hear the ocean and for the views. There were only 2 other occupied tables and the inside was pretty empty as well. Given that, I would have thought the service would have been great but it was slow. It had rained earlier in the day. Our seat cushions were soaking wet. We had to grab towels for ourselves and no one warned us in advance that the seats were wet. When our appetizers arrived, we had to take silverware & napkins from another table because none were ever given to us. Given the price point of the food and drinks, I would have expected better service than this. The food was good but I go to restaurants for an experience and this one didn't really live up to expectations. The Vanderbilt Hotel (which it's in) is a beautiful hotel though.

Our brunch experience at Ola Ocean Front Bistro was nothing short of AMAZING! The waitresses were very accommodating, the food was great, omelette station was fast, and there were many options from the buffet menu. We were very focused on keeping the unlimited mimosas flowing, and the staff was very attentive towards that, especially Miosotys. We decided to step outside and order a bottle service to admire the INCREDIBLE views, ocean air, and sun near the infinity pool, and this might have been one of the best decisions ever for a wonderful Sunday funday in Puerto Rico. DJ played poolside until around 5pm as well! Do not miss out on their Sunday brunch experience!

Because of New Years Day they increased the price of what they usually charge on Sunday Brunch and I expected a different menu because of this. To my surprise it was the same usual Brunch menu. It was excellent, as usual, but nothing different from their usual Sunday Brunch Buffet. A very good value the rest of the days, but not a good value today. Will return on other Sundays, but not on New Year’s Day.

I communicated with Ola's staff before arriving to PR to coordinate a proposal to my girlfriend. The staff was attentive and very supportive. I had special requests and seating preferences (table 15) and things went to plan beautifully. Presentation of the cuisine was wonderful and the only thing better than the presentation of the food was the taste. Much love to the staff at Ola's!

My husband and I visited Ola Oceanfront Bistro, st The Condado Vanderbilt in San Juan m, Puerto Rico, for Sunday night dinner.
We had reservations and were met by a friendly and professional staff. We had the Tartines with prawns for starters along with another with mango and goat cheese - both with cilantro and subtle spicy topping. Delicious and nice sized portions.
Our main course was sea food Paella which was sufficient for two - so we shared one serving.
This favorite Spanish dish ,was also excellent.
Pricing was not unusually high, considering the level of service, ambiance and quality of the food dishes.
We will certainly return to The Condado Vanderbilt and look forward to dining at Ola Oceanfront Bistro!

I went to Ola for dinner during Restaurant Week. Their special prix-fixe menu seemed to be geared towards lunch because the options were pretty casual (wraps & sandwiches with fries). The Tropical Salad was soooo delicious with goat cheese, watermelon, papaya, and tomatoes. Everything else kind-of fell short. I had a shrimp sandwich: the brioche slices were much too big for the tiny amount of shrimp salad inside. Also there was bacon in the sandwich which personally did not seem to match with the flavors. Then for dessert, a yogurt parfait which was fine.. but I personally didn't feel that the granola used was very high quality, and tasted more like an average cereal. Overall, nothing very impressive, and not a very good value. The seating outside however is very nice, with a view of an infinity pool to the ocean. I would return to try other menu items but I don't recommend the Restaurant Week offerings.
