Ola Ocean Front Bistro - Condado Vanderbilt Ratings and Reviews
I communicated with Ola's staff before arriving to PR to coordinate a proposal to my girlfriend. The staff was attentive and very supportive. I had special requests and seating preferences (table 15) and things went to plan beautifully. Presentation of the cuisine was wonderful and the only thing better than the presentation of the food was the taste. Much love to the staff at Ola's!
My husband and I visited Ola Oceanfront Bistro, st The Condado Vanderbilt in San Juan m, Puerto Rico, for Sunday night dinner.
We had reservations and were met by a friendly and professional staff. We had the Tartines with prawns for starters along with another with mango and goat cheese - both with cilantro and subtle spicy topping. Delicious and nice sized portions.
Our main course was sea food Paella which was sufficient for two - so we shared one serving.
This favorite Spanish dish ,was also excellent.
Pricing was not unusually high, considering the level of service, ambiance and quality of the food dishes.
We will certainly return to The Condado Vanderbilt and look forward to dining at Ola Oceanfront Bistro!
I went to Ola for dinner during Restaurant Week. Their special prix-fixe menu seemed to be geared towards lunch because the options were pretty casual (wraps & sandwiches with fries). The Tropical Salad was soooo delicious with goat cheese, watermelon, papaya, and tomatoes. Everything else kind-of fell short. I had a shrimp sandwich: the brioche slices were much too big for the tiny amount of shrimp salad inside. Also there was bacon in the sandwich which personally did not seem to match with the flavors. Then for dessert, a yogurt parfait which was fine.. but I personally didn't feel that the granola used was very high quality, and tasted more like an average cereal. Overall, nothing very impressive, and not a very good value. The seating outside however is very nice, with a view of an infinity pool to the ocean. I would return to try other menu items but I don't recommend the Restaurant Week offerings.
We chose the Ola's brunch for Mother's Day family gathering. It was the best decision we made. From the helpful staff, to the attentiveness from our waitress, and the excellent food options, it was one great experience from beginning to end. I would recommend this place for brunch on weekends!!
Nice restaurant facing the ocean. We were there at night and couldn't take in the views but I'm sure it's amazing. The food was fresh and delicious. Very flavorful. Waitstaff and chef were accommodating of dietary/allergy issues. Save room for dessert - churros, key lime pie, all of it! Only downside was the lighting inside, dim it down to make it more romantic/create more ambiance for evening diners.
Eating on the patio overlooking the ocean makes this a wonderful experience, although the pizza that we ordered was really nothing special on its own. We appreciated the casual atmosphere as we just wanted to grab a quick bite in a beautiful location. It was a bit pricey, but I feel like you are paying for the view as much as for the food - which is truly beautiful.
Primarily enjoyed the fabulous ocean views outdoors. Was not surprised re the high pricing; daughter enjoyed the combination of chick pea, etc. spreads and they provided vegetables as requested (at a low cost). Spouse had a burger for about $18.00. My seared tuna was just okay; would have preferred more seasoning on both the tuna and the Israeli couscous. Never expected to have to sprinkle it with hot sauce! Overall you can't beat the view, maybe just drinks next time.
I ordered a vegetarian sandwich WITHOUT roasted peppers but it came with a generous amount of nice roasted pepper. I removed it, no problem. It tasted really good. The French fries were warm, not hot. That was the only disappointment.
Overall, the food was very good and I would come back.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel and grounds. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and the pool area. Very stunning ambiance. Service was fantastic. Unfortunately the food and prices were not so stellar. Had issues with a few of our dishes. They were remedied by very helpful wait staff and management, which we were very apprecoative of. However, the value for what you get in terms of lack of food quantity and quality, coupled with the price you pay for it, is not anywhere near what this dining experience should be. Overall was a disappointment and unfortunately wouldn't try it again.
The ocean view was absolutely breathtaking. The cod entree was outstanding but save room for the delicious churros! Jan was my server and he was very friendly. He answered my questions and introduced me to a local Puerto Rican beer. He took great care of me and kept me laughing. I highly recommend the restaurant and plan to visit next time I'm in town. Thanks again!
Wandered over from la concha to Ola at the condado Vanderbilt. Went for dinner at 8. Food was outstanding. Gourmet. Had the seafood paella -which has squid ink sauce. It was distinguished. $25 but split it with husband because it was large and split a delicious organic greens salad with bamboo shoots and homemade lemon vinaigraitte. Bill with one glass of wine was $55. Quality and ambience were great. This restaurant is open all day long. They have the paella at dinner. Not sure about lunch. They also had vegetarian paella and others. It wasn't crowded. Meal was twice as good as the one we had a serafina and cost a third less. Open kitchen. Hidden gem.
We dined in the evening so not much of an ocean view. We were not staying at the hotel. The restaurant was beautiful, light, airy - I can only imagine it was even better when u could see the ocean. The food was more light fare and perfect for what we were looking for. I had the arugula salad with salmon which was perfect. My husband had the table side Caesar - also fantastic. My son had an amazing burger (very big!). Overall highly recommend.
just to be totally clear: this is a review of just the christmas brunch buffet. i cannot speak to how the restaurant usually is. i suspect it's better than what we got.
it's a beautiful restaurant. the staff are attentive, but not intrusive. clearly, the place is VERY well run which is what one would expect from the Vanderbilt.
the views are stunning.
the food is a real disappointment. it was so/so bordering on bad. for a $100 a plate brunch buffet, this is not even in the ballpark of acceptable. the frittata tasted like rubber. the bacon was so/so. the selections were extremely limited and decidedly low end (including cold cuts and bad bagels). there was none of the higher end stuff you'd expect at a buffet like this (eggs Benedict, crab, oysters, lobster, etc.) the meat was OK. the omelette bar was passable, but not good. inexplicably, there were no potatoes. the dessert bar was very limited and not very good. the best thing we had was the pumpkin soup which was actually quite good, but $100 to fill up on soup and bread seems a bit much.
i don't know if this was just the result of it being christmas day and the kitchen "a" team not working that day, but this was not something i'd pay to eat again even for $20. i was left thinking, wow, for $30, we could have gone to bar gitano and also gotten bottomless mimosas, but made with better champagne and actually had a decent omelette.
i'm not going to write this place off over this (esp as the other vandy restaurants are good) but this was a really unsatisfying buffet and they really cheaped out on the champagne. without juice, it was all but undrinkable.
This was Thanksgiving day and had our reservation for 10 set for evening. They called Thanksgiving day to ask us to move the reservation to earlier. They made iit sound like the restaurant would be closing early. We find out after getting there that was not the case, only the Thanksgiving buffet was ending but we were now stuck with the buffet which over priced crap. Absolutely the worst conglomeration of garbage I have ever seen. In addition they were out of some dishes and we're shutting it down while we were still trying to eat. Overall it showed such disrespect for the clientele. Should be ashamed of themselves.
While on vacation we were looking for a light meal and decided to try this restaurant. It is in the beautiful and romantic Vanderbilt Hotel. It is on the top floor with a great view of Condado area. I had a wonderful citrus salad and a grilled chicken breast with vegetables and potatoes. It sounds simple but it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Our server was great, attentive, and friendly.
This is at the Vanderbilt Hotel on the 2nd floor.
Right on the ocean.
It's ok. Pretty much bar food. Nothing special.
Our service wasn't very good. Bartender went to lunch and didn't update our check properly. We could have walked out w/o paying for several items (we didn't).
Ate our appetizer w/o plates because they never brought any.
That sort of thing.
