They are short of hands that day... no service for 10-15min after we've been seat.... Food is good as usual
Great food as always and exceptional service!
Great service
The food is really good, but the service is really slow. If you don't ask, you might not get your food.
Nice, about what I expected.
delish food and so similar to Japan cuisine I had this year while vacationing.
Had a nice time. Food was very good overall, but service was mediocre. Took a long time to take our order and the food came out in a strange manner (appetizers came after some of the main dish.)
Great little spot, casual setting but some of the best Nigiri I have ever had.
It was a cold day in SF. My colleague wanted to catch up over lunch. We both wanted soup and ordered the tempura udon. It was just yummy. Thank you for the quality udon meal. Made our day.
Loved everything about this place. Food was really delicious with amazing customer service 😃
Great service. Great food. Family friendly as well.
I enjoyed all foods they offered except Yakitori .
I think that was Teriyaki.
Karaage and Sashimi was good!
I was seated at the sushi bar and got excellent guidance from my server and the bar staff.
The sushi was delicious and simply presented. No need to dunk it in soy sauce.
Fresh fish options vary seasonally and are posted on a chalkboard. I was able to sample common fish and varieties unfamiliar to me.
Would cheerfully return.
The chefs choice rice bowl at lunch is the best! Always fresh and different!
I chose Okane from OpenTable's suggestions for Japanese restaurants in San Francisco. We were celebrating my birthday by traveling across the bay to have dinner and see the downtown Christmas lights. It has become a tradition for the past three years. I couldn't have chosen a better place to have dinner, not only was parking easily found but everything we ordered was appeasingly displayed and oh so delicious. Hands down the best-fried oysters I have ever eaten. The tempura had a wonderful choice of vegetables not often found elsewhere and the nigiri and sushi rolls were delicious. The wait staff was attentive and we lacked for nothing. I highly recommend Okane and look forward to going back.
Okane is good because there are not that many sushi restaurants in this part of San Francisco. And also the food is good. We ordered several specialty rolls, edamame, salmon tartare and chicken skewers - all delicious but the rolls were the best. Beware that it's a small place. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table. There is no waiting area and there were other people waiting for tables so it was very uncomfortable. It almost ruined the evening for me. The restaurant didn't seem to think this was bad enough to offer us some free sake while we waited which makes me feel a little unappreciated. Our server was friendly enough and knew a little bit about the food but we had to wait a long time for one of the drinks. I think they were quite busy and she had several other tables to look after. Overall, it was okay but for good service and better ambiance I would probably try elsewhere.
SF has far too many very expensive omakase only places (including Okane's sister restaurant!) or else just cheap bad sushi. Okane is that rare place, where the fish quality is great, but I don't have to spend $200 a head to eat it in a precious atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to try Omakase, but we need regular sushi options! It's our neighborhood go-to so they know us too, making us feel welcome.
The fish was fresh and the rolls were good, but the strangest thing happened. We had a 5:30 reservation and we finished our meal and paid our bill around 6:30, but still had a little bit of sake to finish - a $70 bottle of sake. Seconds after we finished our sake, around 6:40, the hostess approached us and said she was sorry, but the next reservation for our table had arrived and we would have to leave. The restaurant was half full with plenty of open tables, but for some reason the people who just arrived had to sit at our table. Beware - reservations here have a time limit. There are plenty of good sushi places in the City, so needless to say, we won’t be going back.
The daikon and cucumber salad is a must.
Overall good food and services.
We enjoyed our meal very much as the quality of the food was very good. I usually don't like California rolls as many places use artificial crab but Okane actually uses real crab meat, which was why I did enjoy a piece of the California roll that my friend had ordered. The decor of the restaurant was very cozy so it was a great place for friends who haven't seen each other for some time like we were to catch up with one another over a delicious lunch.
Waygu beef roll is tasty. I had teriyaki chicken bento box for lunch and the chicken was a bit on the hard side and not as tender as other places I had. The teriyaki sauce is good but not as tasty as other Japanese restaurant. Bento box portion is on the smaller side.
Easy parking on a Sunday afternoon, seated immediately, the food was delicious, the restaurant was clean.
We did ask if they could customize a dish for us (by not adding 2 of the ingredients) but this seemed to be a challenge so we settled on a different dish which took a nick off the overall experience.
That special oyster dish has become my new favorite food in SF. It’s really the best deal with all the unit you get!
High quality Japanese food at a ridiculously reasonable price. The menu is broad enough to accommodate friends who are iffy about raw fish, but seasoned sushi lovers will still be awed by the selection of nigiri available.
Overpriced mediocre food. Service was just ok, not great.
Food amount is a lot.
Waitress was hush and always was ready to talk back for the questions we had. Very unpleasant and will not return.
My 2 sisters and I decided to have Japanese food on our last of 4 nights in San Francisco. I saw that it was named a "bib gourmand" restaurant by Michelin so we decided to try it. Right choice! Dinner was delicious and we loved some of the unusual dishes we tried! Definitely will go back on my next trip!
Very tasty sushi
Loved it. Thank you. I’ll definitely be back again.
Took forever to get our food. Like over 30 min to get the first item after we ordered. They did bring us complimentary lotus chips due to the delay. Food is really good though!
Service was excellent! Food was great but a little expensive.
Loved the fresh sushi and the waitress was so knowledgeable!
Very good Japanese food. Japanese restaurant owner and chef Japanese ( not Chinese).
Excellent udon and dashi.
Great spot. Great service!!!
We just love Okane. Always great everything- service, freshness of food and creativity of the chefs.
Exceptional quality sushi. Not busy on a Monday night. Servers will make suggestions if desired. Street parking can be difficult.
The sushi is the real deal- I think the sushi chef was properly trained and knows how to cut the fish and present it well. Melt in mouth deliciousness.
Had various sashimi to start- of note, hirame was particularly good, salmon was just meh. The hand roll with salmon skin, uni & ikura was stellar. Could have eaten another 4-6 of those alone!!
The salmon & ikura ochazuke as the last item (“shime”) was perfect. We ordered two but the waitress placed only one order by mistake. Ultimately it was fine for the two us to split it but this item also, i would’ve totally enjoyed had I been given a full serving.
Our go-to for excellent sushi
