Oishii Boston Ratings and Reviews
Oishii Boston is one of the best Japanese restaurants in my opinion. The foods are tasty and the experience is surely unforgettable! The only thing I'm quite unsatisfied about is the prices of foods are quite expensive. After all, I highly recommend the coconut sphere for dessert.
Oishii lived up to its reputation. I came here for Restaurant Week and ordered one of their set lunches. Beautifully presented and delicious; every mouthful a delight. And, I couldn't help but envy what diners on either side of me had ordered from the regular menu. Definitely worth saving up for a return visit.
This just might be the best Japanese food you have ever had. I know it was ours. You owe it to yourself to eat at Oishii. We got lucky and were able to order off the menu - The owner was there and we asked if we could get their best stuff. It just kept coming until we told them to stop - And then the best desert I have ever had was served. This meal was unreal! I'm sorry I cannot go into detail about what the food actually was. I think it would be a better surprise if you discovered it yourself. Of course they have all the standard fare, and the quality of the fish is top notch. They even have Japanese Wagyu A5 that is served many different ways. Just go! It will be one of the best days of your life.
I have been to the original Oiishi for the past 16 years and have always been happy when leaving there. This new branch is much nicer and much more upscale but no where as good as the original hole in the wall branch. Even when other paid for my meal, it was just not worth the price hype. Hot food isn't as hot and cold food isn't as cold as should be. Food presentation is much nicer but quality wise is simply blehh. I've been to this place 5 times and is sure this is the last. Not recommended.
We got together with relatives who live good food and the restaurant did not disappoint us. Great food, attentive service, and it was quiet enough so we could really enjoy our conversations. One of the most memorable dining experiences I have had. Every dish was well presented, creative and just really tasty. I recommend this place to anyone who loves to eat. Not cheap, but worth every penny. :-)
Omakase was a constant flow of surprising & delicious selections, highly recommend trying it and putting your fate in very capable hands! Anna was our guide through it all and the highlight of our visit. (Her and the morel mushrooms... yum.)
Thanks Oishii for a wonderful evening.
Took forever for the waitress to address us. Food is really disgusting. Understand that they try to be fancy and fusion but it is not working at all. No taste, fake Wagyu beef, rice is totally wrong, sushi is the worst ever, just simply close the restaurant would be better for any new victims like me. I now feel so stupid to go there. Shame on you Oishi!
Having beeb there an never disappoints! Best sushi experience in Boston food, quality and service! Beautiful place as well. I have been there many times, and ant time someone comes to visit me at Boston I take them there and they are as satisfied as me.
Most: truffle edamame, salmon on fire & toro sushi. The desert of coconut is also an experience! Only thing not recommended is the green tea cake (not from Lady M) and is pretty bad compared to the fresh ons from Lady M.
Food was amazing as expected. The Salmon on Fire is a show stopper and delicious. Creative menu with freshest sushi. A La Carte standard sushi and rolls available. Don't skip the hot/cold apps, where the chef's creativity shines. Took our 9-yr old this time - she loved the Rock Shrimp Tempura and Tuna Nigiri. Chocolate Molten Cake was a highlight for her. If you love sushi, highly recommend.
Poor experience on a Saturday night left feeling disappointed. They seem to only have 1 room for seating parties of 2 along a bench adjacent to the sushi bar area and you're seated so close to other couples that you're on top of them. Two international students were seated next to me and were yelling on their cell phones and arguing with the waitress about not having a proper form of ID to consume alcohol. This was unacceptable behavior and obviously no managerial presence to protect the waitress or ask the disruptive pair to leave. It really just ruined the environment and mood- not what you want when you're paying about $100/pp for dinner. I told the host to get me out of there and they weren't able to give me another table (at nearly 10PM) and shuffled us over to bar seating, where we were not able to keep our original server and received poor attention for the remainder of the evening. Nothing special about this restaurant and definitely over-hyped. Would not return.
