Horrifically overpriced sushi and sashimi. The sushi rice was bone-dry and the "chef choice" sashimi was akin to something you'd get at a supermarket for lunch. The worst was the $25"explosive shrimp" maki- it looked like something you'd get at a TGIF. It's completely unacceptable that something of that low quality was offered on the menu.

(I should have known what I was walking into when I saw that the menu also offered steaks and other prime cuts. Unless you're Nobu, that's a gigantic red flag for a sushi place)

I expected better from a high-end sushi place but it appears that the paucity of high-quality sushi in Boston has allowed this restaurant to get away with serving mediocre quality food at exorbitant prices to unsuspecting Boston residents. Save your money and go to Long John Silver's if you want comparable quality seafood.

Was expecting better after reading through all of the positive reviews. The presentation of the food was the best part of the meal. Other than that, I thought both the Wagyu tartare and Toro Tartare were excessively salty.

Haven't been here in about a year, but this place was as good if not better than I remember. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. Best sushi in Boston hands down. Very inventive combinations and perfectly prepared and cooked. Can't wait to go back soon.

This place has alright food. The sushi is not too phenomenal, particularly not for the price. I'd recommend heading here just for the coconut sphere for dessert with a friend or two.

Top of the top, well above expectations, Salmon on Fire, scargots tempura and foie gras are really incredible, after having dinner with my family we returned the next day for lunch with my daughter, not cheap but worth every dollar.

If you are visiting Boston, never miss a chance to visit Oiishi.

Great food but not very attentive staff. Food came out way to quick. We were done our meal in less than an hour. No one ever asked If we’d like more drinks. I expect more from a restaurant with that peicetag.

Great food- quite pricey but this is still a place that one must try. Some unique foods for sure such as the wagyu beef tartare was a uniquely made dish! The sushi rolls were great. I would try to improve by having a birthday plate or some kind of celebration if there was a birthday guest. Our waitress totally tried to make the birthday guest special but it was a plate of 6 fruits with a candle- which I totally appreciated but perhaps even a scoop of ice cream would've been nice or a sushi? But overall the food was excellent

Wanted so much to love this place based on the reviews. We ordered the Omakase tasting. While it was very good, it didn't live up to others you can get for similar price. Service was not very good, we often went 15-20 min between courses and had to ask for refills on water 3-4 times during the night.

Took my husband for his bday and we ordered the omakase. It was amazing! So creative and so much food. We loved it. On par with o ya's omakase, way better than the cafe sushi omakase.

I went here with a few friends for my birthday, and everything was amazing! When we were first seated, we got a table that was in a separate room from the main dining room, and I really wanted to be in the main area to get the real experience. The host staff was very accommodating and made sure to find us seats at the bar while we waited for a new table. Once we were seated, our server was fun and helpful, and the manager came over several times to chat and make sure we were having a good time. At the end of the meal, I got a special treat on the house for my birthday. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it. Can't wait to go back!

Everything was excellent from start to finish. Our server was the highlight of the evening - very detail-oriented, helpful, and humorous. All of the food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and well-portioned. One of our best meals in a while.

No question that the food is good. The problem is everything else you have to put up with. We were running a few minutes late because of Boston Friday evening traffic, one of us called to give the host a heads-up and was told that if we weren't there within 15 minutes of our reserved time, our table would be given away. When we arrive, only 10 minutes late, our party of five was stuck at a table for four in the back room near the kitchen and the rest rooms. Shortly after that, an incredibly loud large party of eight was seated right next to us, making it impossible to chat at a conversational level. As it turns out, the restaurant was not packed and we could easily have been seated someplace else. The aloof humorless server disappeared for 15-20 minutes after we told her that we just needed a minute to decide what to order. Several times the bus people tried to remove plates that we were not done with. We ordered a small (300 ml) bottle of sake, which two of us wanted; without asking, they brought glasses for everyone in our party of five and served it to four of us, including two minors who they didn't card. Later they came back, emptied what was left of the sake into the minors' glasses, then asked the two of us who had wanted the sake whether we wanted to order another bottle (no thank you!). I had to go talk to the hosts at the front door just to get the check, and even then the server took forever to bring it and was unapologetic when she finally brought it. The exact opposite of what one expects in service at a Japanese restaurant. Overall, a very unpleasant environment; we won't be back.

The food is amazing, the fish super fresh. Oishii has a creative menu that combines successfully different cuisines without losing it's Japanese pring. The service is great. Having said that it is EXPENSIVE! well worth it for special occasions, from a business meal to a birthday, or a special night out with friends.

Oishii Boston is one of the best Japanese restaurants in my opinion. The foods are tasty and the experience is surely unforgettable! The only thing I'm quite unsatisfied about is the prices of foods are quite expensive. After all, I highly recommend the coconut sphere for dessert.

Oishii lived up to its reputation. I came here for Restaurant Week and ordered one of their set lunches. Beautifully presented and delicious; every mouthful a delight. And, I couldn't help but envy what diners on either side of me had ordered from the regular menu. Definitely worth saving up for a return visit.

This just might be the best Japanese food you have ever had. I know it was ours. You owe it to yourself to eat at Oishii. We got lucky and were able to order off the menu - The owner was there and we asked if we could get their best stuff. It just kept coming until we told them to stop - And then the best desert I have ever had was served. This meal was unreal! I'm sorry I cannot go into detail about what the food actually was. I think it would be a better surprise if you discovered it yourself. Of course they have all the standard fare, and the quality of the fish is top notch. They even have Japanese Wagyu A5 that is served many different ways. Just go! It will be one of the best days of your life.

I have been to the original Oiishi for the past 16 years and have always been happy when leaving there. This new branch is much nicer and much more upscale but no where as good as the original hole in the wall branch. Even when other paid for my meal, it was just not worth the price hype. Hot food isn't as hot and cold food isn't as cold as should be. Food presentation is much nicer but quality wise is simply blehh. I've been to this place 5 times and is sure this is the last. Not recommended.

We got together with relatives who live good food and the restaurant did not disappoint us. Great food, attentive service, and it was quiet enough so we could really enjoy our conversations. One of the most memorable dining experiences I have had. Every dish was well presented, creative and just really tasty. I recommend this place to anyone who loves to eat. Not cheap, but worth every penny. :-)
