Excellent dining experience, delicious food. Crispy mango sushi rolls were amazing.
I was really looking forward to dine at this venue, because my husband dined there the night before we were supposed to go there. I understand that the night of my booking was on March 13th (the snow day), but I reserved for this restaurant and I got confirmation as well. We were party of 4, and we arrived on time. The restaurant was closed and they didn’t even bother to inform us about the closure.
We had to go back to Four seasons hotel and the concierge also tried calling the venue to no avail. We ended up eating at another venue.
The restaurant should have called and informed us, as our reservation was confirmed.
Amazing dining experience all around. The food was delicious!!!
Our best romantic destination in boston. The place you can enjoy culinary heights and sensitive and non intrusive service while being at home with your dinner partner.
Poorly executed sushi and maki. The balance between the fish and rice is out of proportion and it seems to me that they fuss around too much. For example, their O toro nigiri sushi was topped off with a scallion garnish which got in your teeth while trying to chew it and it was inedible. We went on a Sunday and there was only one server waiting about 5 tables at once so everything was extremely slow.
Most dishes are excellent and very well balanced. Service is nice and accommodating.
Since I moved out of Boston's South End in 2013, Oishii Boston went downhill in every respect except food. The food is still out of this world, just as I remember. The service was atrocious: from having to work hard to attract the attention of our waitress, who condescended to take our order but was acting as though she was really much, much too busy to go over the menu with us; to the maitre d' whose completely unwelcoming demeanor makes one wonder why you would want to employ this unpleasant young man in this capacity. We also had to ask for basic things like water; needless to say, our water glasses were never refilled. The super loud music was extremely annoying (thankfully, the staff turned it down, although we had to ask several times). I don't see myself coming back, even though I loved the food.
Best sushi ever. My husband and I are both sushi lovers and we always have an amazing meal. Love this place!
Always a good time at Oishii
Fresh fish, great service
The food was too salty and the waiter never fills the water until you ask him to. Expected better service and food for the price. I would not recommend this place or would go back. I had better food at a buffet.
Went for my girlfriend's birthday before we went to catch a show. The place was nice and the staff friendly. Got their sashimi sampler, uni pasta, and seafood paella. The paella was a little disappointing, since the seafood was slightly overcooked and overall rather bland. sashimi sampler was a lot bigger than I expected. Uni pasta definitely tasted like sea urchin, though it was hard to find actual pieces of sea urchin, perhaps it was the dim light? or maybe just mixed too much?
Luscious food! Last two times I've visted, the owner came and greeted the table personally. We had a great time, and the great meal I promised my friends did not disappoint at all!
Great fresh sushi and food. Extensive sake menu
I love this place. The food is amazing, service is great and it’s a cool spot. Definitely get the Tokyo mule.
Superb food. The lunch menu is a great way to try small bites if a wide variety of things.
Excellent food and dining experience . Strong recommendation.
Oh Em Gee!!! Do NOT miss the tasting menu.
It was a friend get together occasion. The food was really good beyond my expectation. I really love the Uni sashimi and salmon on fire. For sushi options, I love the foie gras with truffle on top. One of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. The only missing point is our seating is at the corner even though I made reservations ahead. The lighting wasn’t so good. But overall I would rate this dining experience five stars
the food is always amazing
Food and service was amazing. Rated value a 4 just because it was super expensive. Rated ambiance a 4 because it was fine but we were in a small boring room but the downstairs of this restaurant is great and I was disappointed it to be there.
We’ve been searching for great sushi in Boston and we’ve finally found it at Oishii. Great hot and cold appetizers (pork belly buns are a must) and cool cocktail menu. The maki was a mix of traditional and creative. Attentive service. Next time we will sit at the sushi bar to watch the chefs at work. Prices are steep but worth it for the quality. Careful not to over order.
Overall very good+options for foodies as well as non-experts.
The main dining room is best with view on sushi bar.
Down side: AC blasting in wintertime + background music for milleniums getting bored and having nothing to tell eachother.
Pick back room for quiet dining experience.
Pricey although Tasty.
Awesome! I loved it. So glad a friend recommended Oishii.
The kobe taco was AMAZING... that should get 5 stars, but unfortunately the fish was not. My daughter ate the ramen and that was below par as well. The bill was astronomical. I get better much better quality seafood in Manhattan.
It is Japanese cuisine restaurant operated by Chinese, you know what I mean. I am a Japanese.
Our waiter was so helpful in figuring out what kind of sushi would be best for us to try. He made ordering fun and was so thorough in his explanations of what we were ordering so there were no surprises! He was knowledgeable on sushi and walked us through the sake flight that they offer!
Outstanding dishes and a nice visit from the chef
Great sushi and Japanese cuisine. A bit pricey.
Dinner was amazing, but the desserts fell flat; the chocolate lava cake was soupy and the green tea layered cake (mille feuille) was chewy (like it had been in the fridge for a couple days) and lacked flavor.
As the restaurant filled up, our service became much slower.
Although several of the dishes were superb, we felt they were overpriced compared to similar offerings at restaurants in Boston, NYC, and other major culinary cities around the world.
Pretty good lunch place for fresh and delicious sushi. Wish lunch menu is more extensive. Good job!
Fabulous food and service as always.
Wonderfully creative sushi. A wide selection with something for everyone. Service was excellent but not obtrusive.
Exceptionally prepared, wonderful Japanese food. Original, unique.
Wonderful setting, friendly and helpful wait staff
Horrifically overpriced sushi and sashimi. The sushi rice was bone-dry and the "chef choice" sashimi was akin to something you'd get at a supermarket for lunch. The worst was the $25"explosive shrimp" maki- it looked like something you'd get at a TGIF. It's completely unacceptable that something of that low quality was offered on the menu.
(I should have known what I was walking into when I saw that the menu also offered steaks and other prime cuts. Unless you're Nobu, that's a gigantic red flag for a sushi place)
I expected better from a high-end sushi place but it appears that the paucity of high-quality sushi in Boston has allowed this restaurant to get away with serving mediocre quality food at exorbitant prices to unsuspecting Boston residents. Save your money and go to Long John Silver's if you want comparable quality seafood.
I celebrated my birthday here and it was perfect I loved it!
Awesome place for sushi lunch, a hidden jewel in the south end neighborhood. Love this lunch menu variety, fresh, make to order, delish, and cant wait to come again! TY Oishii ! 🤗🍱
A little less attention to presentation and a bit more to food would be great
