OGGI - Ballantyne Ratings and Reviews
Great service, always. We’ve been here twice and the food is always very good. We get wine, appetizers, entrees, and dessert and it’s not too expensive at all. The ambiance can seems bit noisy but it’s not a large place. We have not tried the outdoor area yet, but it looks nice. Definitely a great place in a great area
I was very disappointed that the restaurant did not advertise that Valentines Day would be a Prix Fix menu. The main course offering included steak, fish and the only pasta was a seafood dish in which I have an allergy. I have dined at Oggi many times and have recommended to friends.
I brought my mom & daughter expecting to order from their standard dining menu. The Prix Fix menu did not have the price per person printed anywhere nor was that shared by the server. Dinner with a moderate priced bottle of wine as the first bottle I selected was not available was over a $100 per person. This was not what I was expecting for dinner with my teenage daughter and mother.
Our reservation was for 8:00 pm so I was surprised when we got there and there were about 5 parties ahead of us. We were seated at 8:25 pm. It is very noisy here which is one thing I don't like but the food is fantastic so I can overlook the noise and the wait. Always love to go here but just need to go during the week as they seem to overbook.
Had a great time, met friends we hadn’t seen in awhile. We enjoyed the atmosphere, and did not feel rushed at all. Our food was really good, except my pasta was a little bland. Everyone else’s was on point. Also, enjoyed some fun cocktails from the bar. Service was exceptional! Will definitely be back soon.
I’m not sure that I can identify one or two things in particular that affected my 3-Star rating. It was a series of small things that were hard to overlook. I asked for black coffee and Pam delivered an Americano. ($4.00@) My Caprese sandwich, $14, contained little of value, bland, bland, bland! The tomato was awful and their choice for buffalo mozzarella needs review. Additionally, my shoestring fries were cold, ugh. I switched to Diet Coke and was brought Coke’s small bottle.($2.34@) My bride enjoyed her Eggplant entree. My Pasta e fagioli was great. I’m hoping a return visit for dinner brings me better luck than lunch...
The food was exceptional. My wife had the Ravioli special and I had the Pasta Carbonara. Both dishes had fresh, homemade pasta, and a nice delicate sauce. We each cleaned our plates. Our waiter got lost a few times. The one issue a had with the service, was the bus boy brought out our pasta dishes. We asked him for fresh parmigana cheese, crushed red pepper, and black pepper. He just walked away. It was about 5 minutes before our waiter came to check on us, and we had to request the cheese and pepper again, while our plates just sat there. This would have been an overall 5 star review, with more attentive service.
We love Oggi. It is a favorite of ours for date night. The food is authentic and executed perfectly. Their staff is well trained and attentive, often pairing wine for me with whatever I am eating. We love the Zuppe di pesce or frutti de mare. The atmosphere is dark, giving a more intimate vibe.
The best Italian experience in South Charlotte, Oggi’s rarely disappoints on any level. Highly recommended choice for a romantic evening or special occasion. My girlfriend and I began with the bruschetta special which featured a thin slice of filet and topped with arugula. A different take but we very much enjoyed.
My girlfriend tried a seafood dish that wasn’t what she hoped for. We kindly explained this to our waiter who brought the manager over quickly to talk to us. The manager didn’t hesitate to replace her entree with her second choice, salmon. Top notch, professional customer service!
My Joyce chicken dish was cooked exactly right using a bone-in cut for added flavor. Most pastas are home made, as was my linguini with a simple garlic and olive oil sauce. Cooked to al dente perfection.
It’s the small things that make for a memorable dining experience and create loyal customers. Oggi’s delivers in that way every time. Keep it up!
Our dining experience was exceptional ! From the moment you enter the front door , you are greeted with a warm welcome . Our waitress was very attentive and patient with our questions regarding the menu and answered them kindly .
We thoroughly enjoyed our appetizer , entrees and dessert . The entire evening was outstanding !
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The staff was friendly and attentive. The bartender is very good and crafts some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. For dinner we shared the calamari which was delicious. I ordered the crab ravioli which was out of this world! I have never had such light ravioli and the filling was amazing. My boyfriend had the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly and the risotto was truly Italian. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some updated/modern authentic Italian food.
Although my wife and I have been to Oggi many times, our last visit was disappointing. While we found the quality of our meal above average, we felt that Oggi's prices on this visit was exceedingly high. My wife and I each had a salad( $11 each ) which were good but not exceptional. For entrees, my wife ordered the Veal Chop ( $45 ) and I ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo ($35 ). Each were specials that night. Although we felt both dishes were fine, we definitely feel both were overpriced. The listing of specials did not show the prices, nor did our server when describing each. We know that specials are usually priced higher than items on their regular menu, but by comparison, these prices were much higher.
We visit many upscale restaurants in Charlotte and have had Lobster Fra Diavolo and Veal Chops at some of those restaurants and never were charged those prices. Two of the very best restaurants in Charlotte are Luce and Stagioni. Both offer the same or similar dishes at a much lower price. And their food, ambiance and noise level is much superior to Oggi.
I regret having to write this review, but my wife and I feel Oggi do a disservice to their loyal customers when charging prices that are exorbitant.
Loved it, but I would recommend getting rid of all the flatscreen TVs. If you’re wanting to sell really good food would you do in an atmosphere where foodies want to eat then you need to get rid of the TVs. Plus I think people need to learn to eat together and talk together without screens around.
We had a date night planned and was fortunate that we got a reservation on the day we decided to go to OGGI.. and my girlfriend and I were both very impressed with the service and professionalism. But what had us ecstatic was the FOOD.. it was beyond DELICIOUS and we can't wait to go again!
