An Ofrenda, in Spanish, is an offering, a gift. At their cozy West Village space, owner Jorge Guzman and chef Mario Hernandez offer their unique interpretation of classic Mexican cuisine with an innovative cocktail menu of tequila-based drinks. Named by NYLuxury as “one of the top ten restaurants in New York serving Latin food” and as “Top Tequila Bar in the US” by the editors of USA Today, this intimate and stylish cocina offers its guests a blend of passions. Jorge’s desire is to create a sexy and fun space to enjoy creative cocktails with the best of Latin cuisine. This spot was wild on a Friday night. We arrived early and they got us seated just at our reservation time, maybe a minute early, which we appreciated. The service was pretty good and the elote was amazing!
Waited 45 to be seated
The food and margaritas were fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding! We will be back.
Hostess was insanely rude and passive aggressive. Told us our 1.5 hr was up by declaring to us and the restaurant, remember I told you girls you had to leave in 1.5 hr and it’s already been 2 hours! And started picking everything up off of our table without asking. We ordered lots of drinks, apps and food. When we asked for the check, it took 15 mts to get to us so not sure how that reaction was warranted. Will not ever go back there.
Thanks for the feedback Mars . we are very sorry that this is your interpretation of how we treat people at Ofrenda .as you can read other reviews , we are very well like for the past 12 years . Fridays and Saturdays went people finish their drinks and food we respectfully and kindly ask people to move to the bar or finish their use of the table, because of the amount of other people waiting to be seated . at no moment our staff is disrespectful to our clients .Hope you give us another chance.
Good cocktails! Just okay food. And terrible service. Host was extremely rude from arrival until we left. He asked us if we would leave our table after 1 hour of dining and finish our drinks at the bar so he could reseat table. There is a 1.5 hour time limit for each reservation due to COVID, but after being there only an hour, with just a few sips of our cocktails left, the request was outrageous. Try treating your paying guests with a bit more respect! Throughout COVID (even when no dining was allowed), I would meet here for to-go drinks and support the business. It’s been a favorite of mine for years, but will likely never come back.
Thanks for the fed back Hannah , we at Ofrenda take everyones opinions seriously , we are very sorry that this is your interpretation of the situation . we kindly ask you to move to the bar because your table had finished all drinks and food . Again this was done respectfully and in a good manner . hope you you give us another try in the near future .
The happy hour was great!! Service was awesome and the drinks and food were very tasty and a great value. Loved their cucumber marg!
AMAZING FOOD, DRINKS, & ATMOSPHERE! EVEN GOT TO ENJOY THE HAPPY HOUR WITH OUR TODDLER AND SOMEONE WAS EVEN KIND ENOUGH TO BUY US A ROUND SO THANKS AGAIN TO THE LADY IN THE CORNER :)
Food and service excellent. Best Mexican in NYC
The food was great, very flavorful and fresh. The margaritas were really excellent too.
No air conditioning inside the dining room. Maybe there was and it was being sucked outside. Windows open. Not comfortable.
Also the hostess was pushy. We were informed that we had a 90 minute time limit, which is odd given the restaurant was half full.
In any event, our reservation was at 6:15. At 7:39, after we already paid, wiring for our friend in the bathroom, the hostess asked us to leave. We did not overstay our time limit and there were plenty of other empty tables.
It was incredibly rude.
So eat here and you get the privilege of forking over $200 and then get kicked out before your time is up. And there were empty tables! Why do this? I’ve never heard of something so dumb.
Hot! No AC - food was excellent though
👍🏼Good time celebrating PRIDE with dinner here! Would come back
Food and drinks were great, but the hostess and waiter were both rude to us. We also waited for over 20 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. This seems like very poor planning on the restaurant's part considering there is a time limit on seating.
Service was incredible slow.
Great time, especially for a Taco Tuesday. Spectacular food, fast and attentive service. Decently priced, and delicious margaritas.
While the menu had nice options, the food was just okay.
Excellent food, always good! A bit noisy though so I do not recommend this plac
My favorite margarita and dinner spot in the West Village. Great for everything
Literally had reservations for indoor dining and the space is so tiny and so dang loud on a Saturday night. I only recommend going here during the week and maybe trying to skip the dinner rush. It was terrible. Drunk people yelling and took me 20 mins to get my first margarita. My date was on the way and ended up making a reservation at a more quaint spot due to the EXTREME noise level. They packed so many people in there. It had to be against fire code. Haha. It was ridiculous. I personally do not like restaurants that are terrible at even taking a drink order and are so loud you can’t have a conversation unless you are also yelling.
But if that’s your thing. Go for it.
Food was excellent! A bit noisy but fun!
My party felt very rushed. We were reminded of the 90 minute limit while seated but the waiter took a while to take our orders. At the end of our second course we were given the check without asking for it and our waters were taken away while we were waiting for each other to use the restroom. Very passive aggressive and not hospitable at all. The place wasn’t even crowded which made their behavior even more unnecessary. Definitely won’t return nor recommend.
We went for happy hour and the margaritas were great, the service was outstanding and the guacamole was perfectly fresh! Love this place and will make this a summer regular.
I love this place -- one of my all time favorites. Great food with style and happy hour prices aere terrific!
No idea why the infatuation said this was a great place
Host was nice to ask if wanted to wait for an outside table. The noise level was too loud in my opinion. The pork belly tacos were outstanding. Would say the other tacos we had were okay.
Great spot for HH!
Cesar is the best! But all staff amazing :)
This was our maiden voyage back to NYC dining since last March and Ofreda did not disappoint. The Happy Hour menu is still wonderful and the margaritas are terrific. The wait staff were apologetically understaffed but responsive, friendly, and helpful.
Amazing happy hour menu
Had a wonderful dinner and drinks. The food was great and the drinks and appetizers during a happy hour were very affordable. A wonderful atmosphere
Food was excellent, highly recommend the tacos.
One of the best happy hours in the city. Everything was delicious food and drink wise. Service was stellar. Definitely coming back!
Super attentive servers, fun environment and great food! This was a great experience for me and my family! Jesus was a blast!
Private, yet public. Wonderful date night, awesome service, the pork belly tacos— wow! Also chips were freaking warm, guacamole was outstanding. Great night in New York!
Never gets old! My favorite bar for food and drinks
Service was very slow and they forgot to order our appetizers. Otherwise food and drinks were great.
I bite into a piece of glass that was in my taco. They claimed to have taken items off the bill and then overcharged me for the amount I signed for
Always warm and friendly staff-guacamole is always amazing- mains are hit or miss..... drinks always good.
The food at Ofrenda is outstanding, each plate is unique and tasty, and we couldn't get enough of the different flavors. While our waiter was friendly, it was hard to get his attention and he forgot to bring some things we ordered.
The noise is REALLY loud - the music is a terrific choice but it's up too high and people have to shout to speak.
Would definitely go back but probably order take out instead.
Even though we had reserved the waitress said it was first come first serve which I didn’t understand. So it took about 15 mins to get a table. The service left a lot to be desired for. They took a while to get our first order in for drinks and appetizers. After that no one bothered to check in for the mains. Our waiter just walked guessing his shift was over and we were just sat there for quite a bit. Finally we had to ask a server walking by to take our order. After our mains nobody bothered to check about desserts we were just so put off we decided to give it a miss. The food was decent though a tad overpriced... not super flavorful. Have had better. Ok for a one time Mexican craving. Won’t be going back.
