Oficina Latina calls itself a pan-American bistro, and features cuisines from a number of South and Central American countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica and Panama. Best of all, the restaurant organizes its menu by country, so you can pick your dish by destination.
Want a taste of Peru? Try the Ceviche de Calamari y Vieras. Craving Venezuelan? Order the Arepas Mixtas. Cuban food on the brain? Get the Cubano, of course! Oficina Latina has all of these cuisines – and more – and prepares them all well.
The restaurant offers a daily fresh cocktail selection as well, featuring an interesting wine list from the major Latin American regions, and a few beers from Central and South America.
Do not go for their food. Great margaritas but the dinner menu was limited, portions were small, prices were expensive and to boot not very good.
It was a very disappointing experience compared to when I went 6 months ago.
Better bar scene.
Wonderful staff, very accommodating, and made a Birthday very fun. Great vibe, not too crowded, and the party of 11 had an excellent time.
A great restaurant, good food, wonderful staff. Start with happy hour at the bar and move to a table outside for dinner. I was there on a Friday night and there was no rushing us thru our meal. I've gotta go back here soon.
Got there, told the front man we have reservation for two. He didn't acknowledge what I said and was about to put us at the bar and tell us to wait. Told him again we have reservations. Then he checks twice, tells us we have a table. Sit down, no water or ask us anything. I had to get up, walk over to the bar and ask the bartender to help serve us. Took another 20 mins for the waiter to address if we want anything. Again I had to walk over to the bar, ask the bartender for order ready. Got our drinks. Didn't give us napkins for our Appetizers, was cold. Just waited for food. Asked for sauce on the side & didn't get it. Overall horrible service, was expecting to have good service since a good friend recommended it. Would I go again? Probably not. Only for drinks. The bar was faster than the sinning sitting area. Also, people smoking right where we all were eating. And was very rude they should have at least smoked somewhere else around the corner. Other customer beside us told them to smoke somewhere else and I told the lady sitting in front of me to smoke it elsewhere politely.
Our last night in New York
So so so bad.... guac wasn't even mashed, just large chunks of unseasoned avocado and SO small, very spicy shrimp Arejas but the menu did not indicate spice, "sweet" plantains were the basic fried ones with no flavor. Prices are higher the OpenTable menu.
Cinco de Mayo- enough said! Place was rock'n and we were lucky to snag a table in the front entrance so we could see the city pass us by. Service was quick on this very busy night. Food was great - anything you order will be fine and then wash it down with a spicy margarita. You will not be disappointed.
The motorcycle adorned interior really plucks a nerve. Sitting out on the street on a warm spring day was pretty perfect. Our server was the perfect level of involved. The food was wonderful, highly recommend the beef steak over all the things it's over.
Only criticality is a lot of their digestifs were not available though looking so interesting, and the speakers to our table seemed to make talking take a little more effort--could have been the street noise too though, we were on the sidewalk.
The menu has a lot of great small plates that are flavorful and great for sharing to get through a few different dishes. The drinks were pretty good - maybe a little on the sweet side but still strong and tasty. It's loud, casual, and delicious.
The food was amazing especially the chicken tostadas. Wow
The service was a little slow
Nice food excellent service
Good food, drinks and service.....Enjoyed our girls meet up!
Scattered-brain service detracted from the meal and ambiance. Disappointing, as my friends
and I were very much looking forward to dining here.
Thank you for accommodating my requests for a cozy birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the bday boy wasn't feeling too well and we had to skip dessert. The food was great and we had a private, cozy corner to just sit and chill for a bit. We have a do - over pending for another day...great staff!
Drinks were warm and over priced. The place is really cool and the cocktails were good. But the drinks were too expensive especially for the tequila they used for the classic margarita.
We loved everything about this place. The place had a great ambiance and we were sat right away on a Saturday for brunch at 12:30. The waitress was very helpful and made lots of good recommendations. My husband loved the breakfast burrito and my friend had the scrambled eggs with black beans, plantains and avocado which she enjoyed. I had the poached eggs/grilled pineapple endive salad which I wouldn't get again. Overall we had a great experience and will def be back!! We had an issue with our bill and the manager came right over and made the necessary adjustments!!
Loved this place! The décor is really cool. I went for brunch with a friend on a sunday and it was really chilled but it would be the ideal place for a date and I expect it gets busier there in the evenings. The service was great, nice friendly waiter. Great ambience. My only complaint is that my poached eggs were hard boiled... but overall this is a small thing because the food was really tasty. :)
The place is beautiful, the waiters very nice and the food truly Mexican. Good cocktails, great laid back atmosphere.
I have been to this place many times with groups of friends and had always been pleased with it. I was surprised to see many available time slots on OpenTable for a last-minute Friday night reservation for four people. Indeed, the place was pretty empty when we got there, and we quickly discovered why. While the food was pretty good, the main courses were tiny. Four small shrimps for $18?! Some of the appetizers were actually more filling than this dish that two of us ordered. Same prices as before, but half the food. Which explains the sudden drop in popularity. We won't be back.
Delicious meal - friendly, capable service, great cocktails, fun Friday night vibe, an all around gem. Great for happy hour too.
One of the worst service experiences we have had for graceless service. We dine out 4-5 times per week and over the last 10 years have walked out before dinner maybe 3 times. This was one. We were the only diners in the restaurant relatively early. After 45 minutes, the quacamole we ordered upon sitting hadn't arrived and our dinner orders hadn't been taken. The waitress didn't respond to our reminder for the guacamole and when we finally asked for the bill for our beers from the busboy she had it sent over without a word.
Food was good, service was better, and the ambiance was the best part. Portions not so great for a full meal - just be aware - we were warned by our server, who was great.
Well after searching hours to find a restaurant that was open late on sunday for the guy I'm dating i chose oficina latina. I was so excited to go here and bring in his birthday at a restaurant we both been to. The food looked great and had good recommendations. About 1 and a half hours to two hours before my reservation as I'm getting ready i receive a phonecall from Jorge someone working at oficina latina, stating that there must have been some type of error and they close at 12 on Sundays. If i try to come in before then it would be a good idea was the suggestion. So i said ok. To my dismay its pouring so driving there definitely slowed up my time getting there early i get there around 11:15 only to be told that the kitchen is closed . It would have saved a lot of time if i was told what time the kitchen would be closed. The dissapointment and waste of time was written on my face. Not to mention my date is on his way from work. Thank god i am quick on my feet and found a better restaurant to cater to my needs and celebrate his birthday. Needless to say that lack in customer service was enough for me to know that I won't be paying this place a visit. Thank but no thanks.
We really enjoyed our Sunday brunch here. Very tasty guacamole, quinoa salad, and grilled pineapple salad. A bottle of water with fresh mint inside was a nice touch. Friendly waitstaff. We'll be back!
needed a place to go to near the Bowery Ballroom, and this place had great yelp reviews. The service was extremely attentive and when our food order was misplaced by the kitchen, they brought free golden rum shots for the 3 of us.The food was a bit mediocre, but with the sidewalk table, the service, the great militia, it was closer to 4 than 3.
Loved the chill vibes here, the rolling seats were comfy and cute. Decorated with motorcycle helmets and other vintage stuff added creative flavor. The food was good. Drinks were on the lighter side, so it was a nice refresher after work.
Cute. Funky. Friendly.
Great food, AMAZING drinks. However, they accused me of stealing a statue of Jesus from their shelves, which is:
1. A bizarre accusation
2. NOT a sign of welcoming service
3. Absolutely untrue as a Jesus statue does not match my home decor taste
The service was terrible! There was only one server working, and it took us an hour and a half to get our food.
Yum! Will be coming back!
Adorable decor and staff, great food. Perfect for lunch, not at all crowded.
Great drinks! Blackberry caipirinha is the best, try the carne arepas
The ambiance is so fun and festive. The food was really great, and the service was stellar.
They have an AWESOME happy hour menu!
Get the salad with mango & broccoli! :)
I ordered the shrimp, which had only 3 shimp with the heads I and 2 tostones.
We were a small group of people, about 10-15. I made a reservation for a table of 6, asking if we could be close to the counter as more people would show up later. They were super accommodating. we had a great spot, by the entrance (this was summer and they opened the front part to allow for a little outdoor space).
It was a Saturday night, so as crowded as a bar can be on a Saturday night in Soho. Service was normally slow, as I said, it was packed! Very polite and friendly staff, always checking on us and making sure we had what we needed.
Food is great, especially the suckling pig tacos.
Cocktails were a bit light in alcohol (but not in flavor) for my taste. But I came here in the past, drinks were as tasty but stronger.
The only downside to me is the overall price. Average cocktail price is $12-14. Now it seems to be a standard price for a Manhattan cocktail bar, but it adds up very quickly if you spend a few hours there. But hey, you check the price before ordering, so it's your (my) problem at the end!
In conclusion, everybody had a great time (despite the sad wallet)! It was my second event there, I celebrated my birthday there 6 months ago. I will continue to recommend this place to my friend, and I'll keep going there myself.
I've walked past Oficina Latina pretty much everyday on my way home from work, looking longingly at the guac and chips people were sharing. The mood in the restaurant always looked so cosy to me so I chose this place for my birthday dinner. And I wasn't disappointed! It turns out that besides the excellent guac, the cocktails and food are excellent. The ambience quirky and laid back and the service personal and attentive. I love that the noise level is conversation appropriate. It's absolutely not my last time here, me and my guests had a really nice night.
I can't think of a single thing that I did not like at Oficina Latina. Chips & guac were great. I had the pollo a la plancha as my main course and it was so juicy and tender! Fantastic service as well.
I came for a business dinner with a client and he definitely appreciated that we weren't in some stuffy, snobby restaurant and that I thought outside the box on this one. I would recommend Oficina Latina for any occasion!
Fun for big groups.
Our waiter basically never came to our table unless we flagged him down. It was impossible to get drinks, food, the check, etc.in a timely fashion since he was just walking around with his head down and was super difficult to get to come to our table. Food was decent and drinks were good.
Celebrated my birthday here with a group of 14! There was a little misunderstanding about the reservation as I had asked for the private room in the basement, however The seating they made for the group was also Great! Our server was Amazing!!! Overall we had A blast and enjoyed the Night! Thank you OL!
