Odys and Penelope Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance was nice, trendy but not pretentious. We came here with a small group and got the kale and walnut salad, spaghetti squash, branzino, salmon, and pinot noir. Everything was delicious and the service was great. I would highly recommend this for small groups or a date.
Great spot with excellent options. We had the French toast as a starter and it was amazing. Definitely not your typical french toast but thick and fluffy and perfect. I had the chorizo hash and it was so powerful and could not get any better. Overall a great meal and would definitely recommend.
Very overrated. Food is ok. Service is poor. Having been there 4 or five times, the waiters all have an arrogant attitude as though they are doing you a favor to serve you. The 18% service fee is particularly outrageous and offensive given this.
It is also too loud and the tables are too close together. Ugh.
Excellent food, charming ambiance, attentive wait staff. Dining was a pleasure. While the food has never been a disappointment--cuisine is both experimental and comforting--sometimes service left a bit to be desired. This was a treat. Will definitely continue to recommend to friends.
Food is gourmet and rustic. The small plates are quite small, but the main plates has good portions. The proteins are the focus. The setting had high open ceiling and open kitchen. Service was busy but did not feel too rushed.
Tiny portions for the price. Flavors were ok, nothing that stands out compared to other top restaurants in the city. Very slow service for the 2nd visit in a row (probably because gratuity is included and subconsciously the waiters don’t feel obligated to do their best).
I have been to O&P a number of times and always enjoy it. The service on this day was not especially great. I'm not sure if the restaurant was understaffed or not, but the hostess seemed overwhelmed. It took awhile for us to be seated and waited on.
I will return though, because I do like the restaurant and food.
Enjoyed the meal thoroughly. Was especially impressed with the lamb appetizer and the ribs. We shared 4 dishes and were completely satisfied. We were seated immediately and the service was quite good. Our waiter made a couple of suggestions that turned out nicely. Will definitely return.
We absolutely love Odys and Penelope - definitely one of our top 5 favorite restaurants in LA! I don't want to give away our big secret, but we ALWAYS ask them to put aside some of their pork ribs when we get there because they always sell out! They are TO DIE FOR! Everything is delicious - their cocktails are seasonal and constantly changing and they are so unique and delicious. Their crab toast is UNREAL; their brussel sprout fried rice is to die for; their tri-tip is delicious - I really could go on and on. We even went here for Valentine's day because they were one of the only places that didn't have one of those stupid prix fix menus! Also great that you can smell them a block away from that massive wood burning stove. MMM MM!
Enjoyed the salmon, frisée and fried egg salad. It was the second time I ordered the French toast appetizer and loved it. We usually eat at O & P for dinner, but brunch is casual and fun. Noise level is pretty loud. Our entree came halfway thru our appetizer and our check was dropped off halfway thru our entree which made it feel like I was at Denny’s or a coffee shop. Still left 20% bc the food made up for it.
It was a late brunch and there were very few people there so it was quiet. However, I am not sure this is a safe measure of noise lever.
The food was delicious, extraordinarily delicious. They have some really refreshing drinks and the help was pleasant.
I will definitely go again and will tell people about it. The few time I went, it was crowded, it was earlier in the day.
This was our first time to Odys and Penelope. We met some friends who were regulars and enjoyed a delicious dinner and dessert. The broccolini appetizer was delicious and the salmon perfect. Tasted my husbands branzino, which was also perfectly prepared. For dessert we had the chocolate rye pie which was mouthwateringly good. The service was excellent, too. We will definitely be back again soon.
The food was excellent! Service was superb! We dined at the restaurant before going to the theater and our server was amazing in ensuring we would be able to make it to the theater on time. All of the staff were attentive and very friendly. We felt valued and look forward to dining here again.
