O'Donoghue's Bar & Restaurant
Food was very good, generous portions and we were happy with our server. Our reservation was at 11:30 so it wasn’t crowded at the time. The man who seated us didn’t cross our name off the reservation list even though I asked him to. And so I got an email from Opentable saying O’Donoughs reported that we did not honor our reservation. Did not like that!
Nice place and right across the street from our hotel. Will visit again if possible.
Loved the Irish Breakfast! Bread pudding was great and so were the Poppers we had for an appetizer. Drinks were great! Service was great! Will go back and will recommend!
Loved the turkey burgers and steak fries. Ambiance was good. Service was excellent. Great place to drop into or go before a show. Wish more drinks were available on the happy hour list. Would definitely dine there again.
I had their Irish Stew and it was delicious. My husband had the Fish and Chips. His fish was cooked very well and the French fries were also tasty. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We were not rushed and enjoyed our lunch. Definitely will return.
Very good food. We had reservations and got in right away. This is a very busy place with lots of people hanging out at the bar. Very noisey so no intimate conversation. My daughter had the shepherd's pie and I had bangers and mash. Both were excellent. The service was friendly and quick. We would go again.
Our table was awaiting our arrival. We were greeted very quickly by our waitress. She took our drink order, and then did not rush us into ordering. Food arrived in a timely manner. My Cobb salad was delicious, especially the chunks of bacon and cheese. The three of us left very satisfied. We shall return.
Server thought when we ordered a soup appetizer that was all we were eating and took the silverware away. We had to catch her later on to tell her we were ordering dinner. She disappeared after that. The food itself was overpriced even for New York and not tasty. The drinks were good however and the Buffalo wings another table had ordered looked great! Wished we had ordered a bunch of appetizers instead.
Christmas gift from our children. Staff, service were excellent!
Excellent pre-theater restaurant for a 7pm or 8pm curtain!
Bar and drinks can be slow during busy times. We got the experience we were looking for.
It was Christmas Day and we were visiting New York for several days. Did not want a fancy restaurant and like the atmosphere of an Irish pub. I don’t think they needed to have a special holiday menu because the food was very average. No choices on the cook of the beef—it was well done and somewhat tasteless. The sides were plain and bland. I would have preferred their regular menu! The waitress was pleasant and efficient, place was crowded and noisy but that was expected!
Extremely busy... far too many people in a small space. We booked in July for December because we wanted somewhere to eat when we arrived in New York, no mention of a set menu... disappointed that the food was ok but lukewarm.... all seemed rushed... wouldn’t recommend
Paid over 150 dollars on Christmas day recieved one potatoe tiny bit of veg requested more veg didn’t come out as they had forgot poor service and tiny dinner for the price. Too much meat on plate not enough veg.
We booked through open table but they didn't receive our reservation. Thankful they had room for six. We plan on going back in the future. The beet salad was awesome.
Fantastic food, accommodations, service. We booked for 7 people including a 2 yr old and everyone was fantastic. Thank you.
I chose this restaurant because it was close to the location of where our show would be for the night. I wasn’t expecting much but the food was really good and everyone was friendly. It worked out well for me taking a chance on this place.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Friendly staff and great service.
Got there fairly early and lots of tables available. Seemed to be only one waitress that also helped at the bar. So...service variable as meal went on and tables filled. Food just okay.
The food was fine, but the service wasn't great - very slow and inattentive.
We had a very nice meal here would recommend for friends and family. Busy and vibrant place
While the food was good, we received poor service. The waitress didn't come to check on our table after we received our order and we requested a busing person to ask her to return to refill our drinks. When we arrived for our reservation, there seemed to be some confusion regarding whether we had a reservation, which we booked through Open Table. The staff wasn't friendly or talkative.
Food was excellent. Party of 4 had beef stew and chicken pot pie. Table was reserved for us so no wait. Restaurant was a little tight seating which is typical in NYC. We would definitely go back and spend more time there before hurrying off to see a show.
Food was excellent
Waitress was helpful
My wife ordered the Irish Beef Stew. Menu listed as $18.
It came out and had 3 pieces of meat, 4 carrots and a bowl of potatoes topped with mashed potatoes.
When bill came they charged $20.
Don’t order a martini either glasses so small for $14 you’ll finish it in two sips
Won’t go back
Food was fair, we had the hummus for an app, I had salad with grilled chicken, my daughter had a BLT which she liked. Our server was very good.
Perfect theater spot for quick meal happy hour cocktails
Love, love, love! We've been here on every trip to the city now for the past 4 years and love it every time! Friendly, competent staff even during busy times and food that reminds us of home in County Cork!
We had an early evening reservation on Sunday after a Broadway Play - Seven of us all enjoyed a different menu item and the great Irish Beer - Sarah was GREAT!! A busy bustling day in NY and Sarah was so very attentive to our every need.. Will absolutely go back!!
A nice little Irish Pub located in Times Square area. The food is really good. I had the Shepherd’s Pie, and it was perfect. A nice portion for one person, with plenty of beef, mixed with peas, carrots, and a savory gravy, topped with mashed potatoes browned under a broiler. Menu prices are very reasonable for the location. Service was nothing stellar, but good. Server who had my table also had a very rowdy, needy table of 10, all of whom were too busy ordering and drinking beers to worry about food options; but kept her running from table to bar with continual drink and beer orders. Overall a really good place to dine on something a bit different.
We brought our friends to O'Donoghue's so they could see and taste for themselves what we have found and they heartily agreed that the food is fabulous. They now want to make it our regular place for pre-theater dinner get togethers.
Great location close to theatres and Times Square. Quite a big place - service was ok, not particularly friendly but not bad. Usual pub food menu - our meals were a good size and tasty. Prices - not bad for New York.
Not too crowded pre-theatre. Super friendly, efficient service.
This was our first time at O'Donoghue's and we came away highly impressed. The food was exceptionally good and the dessert especially delicious which I washed down with a very fine specialty coffee. We started it all with a salad that was large and zesty. We hope to be present for a live music performance the next time we are there. In fact, we have already made another pre-theater reservation at O'Donoghue's and will be bringing along our friends. We thus highly recommend O'Donoghue's for its outstanding food.
atmosphere food and service was excellent
We were not rushed once we finished our meal and that was much appreciated as we don’t get together often
Location for the theater was good too
We stopped in after a show on Broadway. Excellent service and the food was typical of an Irish Pub. I had shepherds pie and it was delicious!!! The rest of of my group had burgers and they were all very good. A nice place for a quick bite in a casual setting
We were going to lunch before a broadway show. We did have reservations although the day were were there it did not seem necessary. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was attentive, the food came quickly and was well prepared. Got to our show in plenty of time. Good selection of draft beers was a plus. Would definitely go back
Poor food & watered down drinks. Much better pubs in the area.
Very typical Irish pub experience. I had a server who seemed to be constantly distracted but got around to me when I flagged her down. Not terrible but service could have been better. Food was what I expected.
