We chose O’Donoghue’s for our thanksgiving meal while visiting New York. We loved the comforting atmosphere and ambiance. The food was fresh and delicious. We will visit again. Overall it was excellent.
We made reservations at 5:30, so we could make it to a 7:00 show. It took 30 min to even get water. By 6:15, there was no sign of out food. We asked and were told 5 more minutes. Our food arrived at 6:21 giving us 9 minutes to scarf down our food before we had to leave. The restaurant is so loud, we could not even have a conversation. The service was horrible! The women who greeted us was not welcoming and even though we had a reservation, she acted like we didn’t and have us a hard time until she found it. The food was ok, but it was hard to enjoy it since we had to eat so fast.
We ate here on a busy Saturday night. Service was somewhat slow: we received our meals 40 minutes after being seated. The menu choices are ample and varied.
Food and service were good. Provided the comfort food we wanted at a good price.
A little slow on the service but overall this place met expectations.
The chicken pot pie was very good but the zucchini sticks app was like a forgotten red headed step child.
It was a great spot for what we needed. A place for a quick bite before a 7pm curtain on for our Broadway show(Jagged little pill, which started at 7pm, odd for a musical)
The food was excellent, the servers were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant. If you enjoy pub food and find yourself in the Times Square area, this restaurant is for you!
Very good, solid food at a reasonable price. I had fish and chips, perfectly cooked. I like going there before going to the theater.
The man who greeted us was so nice, our waitress was fun and efficient, always checking to make sure we were okay and if we needed anything and the food was OUTSTANDING! I had a very good time! Will be back!
This place is a gem, great food and lovely staff.
Menu is 99% American. Beers 90% Domestic.
Crab Cakes were fantastic. Brownie sundae was good too.
The bangers and mash however was gross! Shriveled up overcooked Sausages with a bland gravy and mashed potatoes. As a British person this was incredibly disappointing.
There is nothing Irish about this place aside from the in your face decor.
This is a great place for single diners to eat! I was on a business trip and wanted a quiet place to eat before attending a broadway show. The entire staff made me feel welcomed and attended to my every request. I had the best mango martini and shepherds pie I’ve ever eaten. The ambience was warm and friendly and I’ll definitely go back again!
Food was delicious. Spicy calamari was cooked and seasoned so well. Boneless buffalo wings had the right kind of crunchy outside and saucy zing. Service was lacking in engagement. We weren’t asked if we had a reservation when we arrived bc they had tables open. Maybe it was bc they thought we were walk in’s but the waiter seemed bored with us before we even got to order. Did not ask if we wanted a second drink or how everything was. Had to ask for the check multiple times. If it was busy I’d understand but it wasn’t a packed house. The most important part - the food and cost - are on point though.
Very good food and service. Very loud during certain sporting events, but otherwise very nice. Staff was very good. Barstools/high tables stools were not the most comfortable.
Cute vibe, the Irish description is absolutely accurate. This was right across from the out hotel, it made a for a quick and easy bite to eat.
Nice meal limited menu with reopening but great staff
Food was very good, generous portions and we were happy with our server. Our reservation was at 11:30 so it wasn’t crowded at the time. The man who seated us didn’t cross our name off the reservation list even though I asked him to. And so I got an email from Opentable saying O’Donoughs reported that we did not honor our reservation. Did not like that!
Nice place and right across the street from our hotel. Will visit again if possible.
Loved the Irish Breakfast! Bread pudding was great and so were the Poppers we had for an appetizer. Drinks were great! Service was great! Will go back and will recommend!
Loved the turkey burgers and steak fries. Ambiance was good. Service was excellent. Great place to drop into or go before a show. Wish more drinks were available on the happy hour list. Would definitely dine there again.
I had their Irish Stew and it was delicious. My husband had the Fish and Chips. His fish was cooked very well and the French fries were also tasty. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We were not rushed and enjoyed our lunch. Definitely will return.
Very good food. We had reservations and got in right away. This is a very busy place with lots of people hanging out at the bar. Very noisey so no intimate conversation. My daughter had the shepherd's pie and I had bangers and mash. Both were excellent. The service was friendly and quick. We would go again.
Our table was awaiting our arrival. We were greeted very quickly by our waitress. She took our drink order, and then did not rush us into ordering. Food arrived in a timely manner. My Cobb salad was delicious, especially the chunks of bacon and cheese. The three of us left very satisfied. We shall return.
Server thought when we ordered a soup appetizer that was all we were eating and took the silverware away. We had to catch her later on to tell her we were ordering dinner. She disappeared after that. The food itself was overpriced even for New York and not tasty. The drinks were good however and the Buffalo wings another table had ordered looked great! Wished we had ordered a bunch of appetizers instead.
Christmas gift from our children. Staff, service were excellent!
Excellent pre-theater restaurant for a 7pm or 8pm curtain!
Bar and drinks can be slow during busy times. We got the experience we were looking for.
It was Christmas Day and we were visiting New York for several days. Did not want a fancy restaurant and like the atmosphere of an Irish pub. I don’t think they needed to have a special holiday menu because the food was very average. No choices on the cook of the beef—it was well done and somewhat tasteless. The sides were plain and bland. I would have preferred their regular menu! The waitress was pleasant and efficient, place was crowded and noisy but that was expected!
Extremely busy... far too many people in a small space. We booked in July for December because we wanted somewhere to eat when we arrived in New York, no mention of a set menu... disappointed that the food was ok but lukewarm.... all seemed rushed... wouldn’t recommend
Paid over 150 dollars on Christmas day recieved one potatoe tiny bit of veg requested more veg didn’t come out as they had forgot poor service and tiny dinner for the price. Too much meat on plate not enough veg.
We booked through open table but they didn't receive our reservation. Thankful they had room for six. We plan on going back in the future. The beet salad was awesome.
Fantastic food, accommodations, service. We booked for 7 people including a 2 yr old and everyone was fantastic. Thank you.
I chose this restaurant because it was close to the location of where our show would be for the night. I wasn’t expecting much but the food was really good and everyone was friendly. It worked out well for me taking a chance on this place.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Friendly staff and great service.
Got there fairly early and lots of tables available. Seemed to be only one waitress that also helped at the bar. So...service variable as meal went on and tables filled. Food just okay.
The food was fine, but the service wasn't great - very slow and inattentive.
We had a very nice meal here would recommend for friends and family. Busy and vibrant place
While the food was good, we received poor service. The waitress didn't come to check on our table after we received our order and we requested a busing person to ask her to return to refill our drinks. When we arrived for our reservation, there seemed to be some confusion regarding whether we had a reservation, which we booked through Open Table. The staff wasn't friendly or talkative.
Food was excellent. Party of 4 had beef stew and chicken pot pie. Table was reserved for us so no wait. Restaurant was a little tight seating which is typical in NYC. We would definitely go back and spend more time there before hurrying off to see a show.
