Amazing food, great service, ambience, and overall such an amazing experience at this Michelin star restaurant. We will come back, and would definitely recommend this place to everyone we know.
Food was good but wasn't special. I expected more from a michelin star restaurant. The service was very rush on ordering food to bringing out dishes when we weren't even finish eating the previous dish. The restaurant also didn't serve cocktails which was a disappointment. I would not be returning to this place.
Drove past the restaurant and saw the gorgeous kitchen from the car window. I was immediately intrigued. Got to the Majestic Hotel and found the name on Untapped App. The menu looked great so we booked and throughly enjoyed the whole experience. Our server Eric was very knowledgeable, kind, easy going and professional. He made great recommendations for wines and was prompt greeting us and remained attentive. We’ll be back again for sure. Keep up the mighty fine work y’all.
Loved the tasting menu!
I never tire of lettting everyone know HOW MUCH WE LOVE OCTAVIA!!!!!! It remains my favorite restaurant in SF and we feel a part of the family there, a true dining delight and it is the people that create Octavia and the energy they have that keeps us coming back!!!
XO Kim and Clarence Barker
Octavia is an excellent venue for excellent food and wine, appropriately attentive service and a busy, lively, noisy (but not too noisy!) ambiance. We had a mixture of the sharing plates (difficult to share because we all wanted to have the entire portion!) and the main dishes. All the dishes were nicely presented, and were each full of flavour. We were not surprised that it was Micheline starred....
We LOVE our dinners and evenings at Octavia....it is part of our weekly routine and we are so very fortunate to be able to visit often, the food the people the wine....it just always feels right!!! Thank you everyone at Octavia!!!
I think Octavia is a good restaurant, but not as great as it use to be. They press the tasting menu every time, but I never enjoy the random items they select. I asked for tartar instead of the preselected app and they said no. I totally understand that they can't accommodate every request, but when someone is spending 300 dollars on a meal for two, you can atleast check with the kitchen. Hopefully it was just a couple bad nights because this place use to be an all time favorite of mine.
WE love our Happy Place...which is Octavia!!!! WE continue to go back each week and always feel at home and content there....
Disappointing. Service was haphazard although the staff was well-intentioned. The bread and amuse bouche for the tasting menu were thrown on the table as an afterthought when our first course arrived. The wine list said our Gigondas was a 2015 but it was a 2017. We had to ask for our dessert and check after we had been sitting for two hours. The waiter apologized twice for the delays. Food was delish but overall not worth a Michelin Star
Octavia is by far one of our favorite places to dine. For some reason our last experience was a bit off. We’ll be back for sure
Excellent service and food
The best food we have experienced so far in our 3 week visit to San Francisco.
Once again, every week, we go for dinner and Octavia always is delightful...the PEOPLE, the FOOD, the WINE.....we love sharing the restaurant with our family and this time we were with one of our adult daughters....such fun to share 3 amazing desserts YUM!!!! Love our evenings with all the lovelies at Octavia, thank you for always treating us with TLC....you are all the very best....xo kim and clarence
Excellent food, lovely service.
Amazing Chef’s tasting experience for my birthday! Great service with delicious food! Octavia always delivers!
Expensive, but good food and nice ambience. It’s all about sharing small dishes, devil egg and duck liver mousse highly recommended!
This place was fantastic! The service was excellent & the foo superb.
This was our eighth trip to Octavia, but the first time we were (both) disappointed. The food was not inspiring and certainly not the value of the cost. The risoto was way too salty -- the server brought us a second dish -- much better. The filet was OK -- not tasty -- the broccolini was scraggly and lacked any flavor. We had the cake -- also average at best. I spent $190 for two people -- and very disappointed. We will return -- we have good memories of Kim and David as servers; and great food before. But this time was a big dud.
Great experience. The food was terrific and the service was friendly and efficient. The wine list is a little pricey and the selection is somewhat limited, so you may have a tough price/quality decision to make.
Food was excellent and interesting. Great flavor combinations layeted into deceptively simple dishes. Service for 3 took a lot longer than I had expected. About 3hr
We celebrated our anniversary with Octavia. Such a delight! The deviled eggs stole the show (soft boiled perfectly with a palate pleasing array or spices) we always love the bread and butter too. Both went really well flavor wise with the pickles (the romanesco and radish were my personal fav)! The beet salad was phenom (such yummy fresh beets that paired so well with the citrus and goat cheese) as well as the tagliatelle and the risotto with added truffles. The blonde ale went really well with all the flavors! We finished with the angel cake seared in brown butter- delicious! Service is always wonderful and the ambiance is cozy, warm-lit and festive (great music).
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary at Octavia and it was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was great
Our main waitress could not have been more bored-seeming and really not warm, but the gentlemen that served us otherwise were super nice and made up for it.
We love our dinner at Octavia-our very favorite place to be!!!
Horrible, inattentive service - will never return or recommend.
Octavia is my go-to place whenever I come to SF. If you are into an 'all you can eat' restaurant, don't come. If you are looking for quality at the tip of every fork, then yea.
We really really LOVE each and every time we dine at Octavia....which is weekly :) xo The Barkers
The food was outstanding! It was innovative and delicious. Our only issue was the noise which made it a bit difficult to hear.
OVERPRICED AND UNDERWHELMING . . . My wife and I happened to walk past Octavia late one afternoon. They were just getting set for dinner. There were romantic candles on all the tables and it looked charming. We read the menu - which looked interesting, so we made a reservation for that evening. Our server, Kim, was wonderful. Beyond that there isn't much positive I can say. I don't mind spending $250 for dinner for two for a special occasion. But the food had better be memorable. It wasn't. It will be remembered for it's pretentiousness and excessive "innovation" - with a lot of loopy uncommon flavors that don't belong together and didn't enhance the dishes. The noise level borders on deafening, and the lighting - though "romantic" - is not sufficient to allow diners to read the incredibly tiny print on the menus. The restaurant would have been much more reasonable if it was half the price. But we still wouldn't return.
Our table was ready early and our experience was excellent food staff and wine all great and served with an enthusiasm that you want to have when dining out. Overall a great experience from start to finish. Just wish they had a full liquor license. For now the Negronis will do.
Had the prix fixed menu. We were presented with about 10 or more dishes served family style. Deviled eggs are not what you might expected. It was not a stuffed deviled egg, but a soft boiled egg with a spicy sauce. This was our least favorite dish. The pasta was excellent as was the super fresh salad. The entree of beef tenderloin was seasoned and cooked perfectly as was the salmon. The desserts were light and refreshing. It’s a small restaurant and tables are very close together. Service was definitely 5 star!
We love our Sunday evenings at Octavia, everything about our experience there is over the moon enjoyable....we love you all at Octavia just like family...xo the barkers
The food from the tasting menu was god-like. This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Bay Area. Price is a little bit on the expensive side but it is definitely worth the try.
The service and food was outstanding. I will definitely go back.
Had a friend visiting from New York and she was blown away!
Great service, wonderful food. Will definitely come back!! The pork was amazing and the cheesecake was delicious
